Chapter 38: Date with Emma
Dave soon arrived back at his home, parting ways with Diana, who returned to the company while he prepared for the evening ahead. Standing in front of the mirror, he inspected his appearance, thinking aloud, "Hmm, I wonder what her preferences are."
Trish, lounging nearby, noticed Dave's curious expression. "What are you doing?" she asked, eyeing him playfully.
"I've got a date with a beauty tonight," Dave replied with a smirk. Trish raised an eyebrow, already sensing the tease coming.
"Let me guess, she's blonde and hot?" Trish grinned, teasing him as Dave chuckled and nodded.
"You know me too well," Dave admitted with a light laugh.
"Well, enjoy your night alone with her," Trish said with a mischievous smile as she blew a playful breath of air in Dave's ear.
Dave glanced at the clock, noting that he still had plenty of time. "You shouldn't have provoked me," he grinned back, scooping her up effortlessly before heading toward the bedroom.
Trish gasped, laughing as Dave carried her off. "You're impossible," she giggled, but the playful spark between them was undeniable. Tonight, Dave would meet Emma Frost, but for now, his attention was fully on Trish.
Dave carried Trish to the bedroom, the laughter between them filling the room as he gently placed her down on the bed. She gazed up at him, still smirking, but there was a soft warmth in her eyes. "You always know how to change the mood," she teased, playfully tugging at his shirt.
"Well, I can't help it when you make things so tempting," Dave replied with a grin, leaning down as their lips met for a brief, tender kiss. The teasing and playful atmosphere melted into something more intimate for a few moments.
As they lay together, Trish's voice softened, "You really like this girl, huh? Emma Frost."
Dave chuckled lightly. "I don't know yet. It's more of a... business date for now," he said, running his hand through her hair. "But she's interesting, and I think she could be a good ally for what's to come."
Trish nodded, understanding the layers of Dave's plans. She knew he was always thinking ahead, strategizing every move, but she appreciated these moments where he could just be present with her. "Just don't get too distracted," she teased again, "or I might have to come and steal you back."
Dave laughed and sat up, gently patting her leg. "No one could steal me from you," he said, planting a quick kiss on her forehead before rising to get dressed for his dinner with Emma. As he moved about the room, Trish watched him, her eyes lingering with both affection and curiosity. She knew Dave was someone who could handle himself in any situation, but there was always a spark of unpredictability in him that made every encounter exciting.
Once Dave was dressed, looking sharp and ready for the evening, Trish whistled, "You clean up nice. Better make sure that Frost lady doesn't get too mesmerized by you."
"Right," Dave grinned, adjusting his collar as he glanced at the mirror one last time. "Wish me luck."
"Good luck," Trish said with a wink. "But remember, you owe me a night after this."
"You've got a deal," Dave said with a smile, giving her one last look before heading out.
As he left his home and got into his car, the thought of Emma Frost lingered in his mind. She was more than just a beautiful face—there was something mysterious about her, something that made Dave attracted to her, her Powers that lay dormant in her. He knew tonight would be an important step, not just for potential romance, but for whatever power she could bring to his growing influence.
As the city lights flickered by on his drive, Dave remained calm and collected, mentally preparing for the evening ahead. Whatever happened tonight with Emma, he knew it would lead to bigger things. And he was ready for it.
Meanwhile, across the city at her lavish penthouse, Emma Frost stood before an ornate full-length mirror, frowning as she tried on yet another dress. Her usually calm and composed demeanor had given way to an unusual wave of indecision. One dress after another lay strewn across her bed and floor, a rare sight for someone as impeccably organized as Emma.
"This one's too... formal," she muttered, slipping out of a sleek black gown and tossing it aside, walking back to her wardrobe.
Emma Frost, the CEO of Frost International, was used to commanding attention without effort. Her beauty and confidence alone usually ensured that people bent to her will. Yet, for some reason, the thought of her dinner with Dave Garcia had her second-guessing everything. She had felt something different when she met him earlier—his calm demeanor, the way he effortlessly saw through her charm, and the sheer power he exuded intrigued her more than she cared to admit.
Slipping into a flowing silver dress, Emma examined herself in the mirror, her expression thoughtful. "Too flashy," she said, shaking her head. She sighed, pulling the dress off, leaving it on the back of a chair before moving on to the next option.
She paused for a moment, glancing at her reflection, her hand resting on her chin. "Why am I even trying this hard?" she whispered to herself. "He's just another man... no different from the others." But deep down, Emma knew Dave wasn't just another man. He was unpredictable, and that intrigued her. Normally, men were easy to manipulate, but with him, there was something... elusive. And Emma hated not being in control.
Finally, after what felt like hours, she pulled out a dress she hadn't worn in a long time—a sleek, form-fitting white dress that subtly hinted at her signature style as the White Queen, but with a modern twist. It was elegant, but not overpowering, and it allowed her to maintain the air of sophistication she always exuded while appearing approachable.
As she slipped into the dress, Emma smiled at her reflection. "This will do," she decided, her blue eyes gleaming with confidence once more.
