Chapter 1350: Hua Hu
Lin Chen couldn't help but secretly admire Tang Chao's shrewdness.
If the sentries were outside, moving around, it would easily attract attention.
But hidden in residential houses is different; it's difficult to be discovered.
Lin Chen observed a few surrounding rooms, and there was faint light coming from each. No need to ask; they were all hiding the enemy's sentries.
Just the perimeter alone, Tang Chao had arranged over fifty people.
Lin Chen moved swiftly and silently through the surrounding bushes.
Each sentry post had someone observing the outside situation, but Lin Chen's abilities were too formidable. In the night, he was almost like a ghost, making it impossible for those sentries to discover him.
Using rocks and trees for cover, Lin Chen quickly entered the village.
He silently crept to the bottom of a civilian house wall.
Soon, the voices of several armed men conversing reached him from inside.
"Damn annoying, I just arranged to meet with Widow Li at the head of the village, but suddenly got called to the sentry tonight. What's going on?" one person inside cursed.
"I heard something happened in China; five or six of our brothers were captured. Seems like they want to talk about some sort of cooperation," another person, evidently knowing a bit of the inside story, said.
"Damn it, talking cooperation after capturing our guys, that's just too arrogant," the man angrily said.
"I heard it was our guys who made the first move, but they were prepared. These guys have strong backing. The boss and the military advisor are taking it seriously. We need to stay sharp these days, make sure nothing goes wrong," the man whispered.
"What could go wrong? Our defenses are so tight. We've been taking turns watching that little girl 24/7, it's really ridiculous. A single little girl needing a dozen men to watch her, isn't this just crazy?" the man complained with a yawn.
Upon hearing this, Lin Chen's heart tightened; the 'little girl' they mentioned was undoubtedly Zhao Xiaohua.
Lin Chen continued listening for a while, but all they talked about was trivial matter of sleeping with women, nothing of valuable clues. So, Lin Chen quietly left.
After reconnaissance, Lin Chen marked several of the houses with sentries and was about to leave when he suddenly saw a man and a woman dart into the jungle.
Their movements were incredibly quick, and if it weren't for Lin Chen's Tianyan Divine Eyes, they would be hard to spot in the dark night.
So late at night, these two entering the jungle certainly wasn't for anything good.
Lin Chen was actually planning to capture one of them alive to ask about the situation inside; this was an unexpected opportunity.
With a flash of his body, Lin Chen disappeared from the spot and entered the jungle.
Just as he entered the jungle, the intense sounds of a man and woman panting heavily could be heard.
Lin Chen looked down from the treetops, seeing a man and a woman engaged in that kind of activity among the grass.
In fact, Lin Chen wasn't planning to disturb them; such a wild 'battlefield' scene is rare enough.
However, time was tight, and Lin Chen didn't have the luxury of letting them finish their business.
When Lin Chen appeared before them, their souls were practically frightened away.
Especially the man, just in the throes of passion, immediately deflated in shock.
The two of them were engaged in such activities, so naturally they didn't dare make a sound. But Lin Chen didn't give them the chance and immediately knocked them unconscious and tied them up.
This unexpected event offered Lin Chen a surprising delight because the man he caught was none other than Tang Chao's military advisor, the guy with glasses.
Lin Chen knew who he was thanks to Black Bear.
This guy's nickname was Hua Hu, Tang Chao's right-hand strategist.
Black Bear had once negotiated a deal with him; the prominent black mole on his face was unmistakable, so Lin Chen recognized him at once.
Lin Chen tapped a few acupoints on Hua Hu, and the guy quickly woke up.
Upon seeing Lin Chen, his face drastically changed: "Who are you?"
Lin Chen smiled faintly: "I think you can guess."
"Lin Chen!" Hua Hu was smart and immediately guessed Lin Chen's identity.
"Correct answer. I suggest you cooperate, or else the consequences you should know," Lin Chen said, waving the dagger in front of Hua Hu's eyes.
If Hua Hu made any move, like trying to call for help, Lin Chen would end him in an instant.
Hua Hu fearfully eyed the dagger in Lin Chen's hand and said, "You've got some nerve to sneak into our base? You should know the consequences."
"Consequences? I never consider consequences in my actions. Oh, let me tell you a secret. I'm not one of Ba Ye's men; I'm from the Dragon Group," Lin Chen said with a cheerful smile.
Upon hearing Lin Chen's words, Hua Hu's face instantly turned extremely grim.
If Lin Chen was truly from Ba Ye, then he might have a chance, but falling into the hands of the Dragon Group, he knew he was definitely doomed this time.
The Dragon Group was considered China's most elite special agent organization; Hua Hu had some understanding of this, naturally aware of the Dragon Group's reputation.
"Are you really from the Dragon Group?" Hua Hu's voice trembled.
"Yes, so I advise you to abandon any clever tricks, or you should know the end result," Lin Chen's voice was cold, carrying a sense of undeniable authority.
Initially, Hua Hu believed Lin Chen was just someone from Ba Ye's crew trying to grab a piece of the action, never imagining that this time the Dragon Group had been attracted.
They, of all people, would least like to encounter the Dragon Group.
Hua Hu gritted his teeth and was about to put up a fight, but before he could act, Lin Chen's dagger was already pressed against his throat.
Lin Chen stretched out his other hand and pulled out the dagger hidden in Hua Hu's sleeve.
"Kid, playing tricks in front of me? You'll only die more horribly," Lin Chen said coldly.
Hua Hu felt his heart sink, knowing he'd truly met his match this time. His actions had been extremely discreet, yet still detected by Lin Chen, highlighting Lin Chen's formidable abilities.
That dagger was his only hope for escape, but now that it was confiscated, he was utterly hopeless.
Resistance was pointless, and escaping was equally impossible. A resolute glint flashed in Hua Hu's eyes, deciding on suicide.
He had heard of the Dragon Group before; nearly no one ever returned alive, even if you grit your teeth and endure, in the end, you had no choice but to confess.
Considering his numerous deeds, even getting executed ten times wouldn't be enough. Rather than walking into death, he might as well end it all.
However, as he attempted to dash into the nearby tree, he realized his body had gone numb, incapable of any movement; suicide had become an unattainable dream.
Only then did Hua Hu remember Lin Chen had pressed a few points on him.
Initially, he had dismissed it, but upon reflection, he realized he seemed to have been immobilized.
Lin Chen smiled faintly: "Dying isn't easy. If you don't want to suffer before death, be truthful. I'll ask, you answer. If there's a single lie, I'll make you understand the meaning of living hell."
