Xin Xiaoqi opened the door only to see Lin Chen in a pair of shorts, his upper body clad in a tank top, his firm muscles faintly visible.

"What's up?" Xin Xiaoqi asked warily.

Lin Chen gave a wicked smile, "What do you think I'm here for at this late hour?"

"You scoundrel, who wants to do that sort of thing with you?" Xin Xiaoqi fumed and was about to shut the door.

Lin Chen hastily blocked the door, "What are you thinking? I meant I wanted to discuss the details of case X with you."

"Ah!" Xin Xiaoqi's face immediately turned red.

Lin Chen shook his head, "You're too unpure."

"Who told you to be so mysterious instead of speaking directly? Come in!" with that, Xin Xiaoqi ignored Lin Chen and went inside.

Xin Xiaoqi in her lace nightgown was particularly enchanting, especially with those faintly visible curves, making Lin Chen gulp with desire.

"Do you like it?" Xin Xiaoqi asked, her eyes brimming with allure as she glanced at Lin Chen.

"Yes, I do!" Lin Chen exclaimed, swallowing hard.

"Do you want to touch it too?" Xin Xiaoqi inquired.

"Of course, that would be even better!" Lin Chen responded without hesitation.

"If you dare touch, I'll chop your hands off! Now tell me what's going on." Xin Xiaoqi snorted coldly.

Moving on to the main subject, Lin Chen's lecherous look vanished, replaced by a sharp glint in his eyes.

"Is Wu Xiong in charge of receiving Xiao Hua and the others this time?" Lin Chen asked.

Xin Xiaoqi nodded, "Yes, Wu Xiong was surprisingly cooperative this time, and I heard he almost lost his life!"

"Wu Xiong was involved in this mission too?" Lin Chen questioned.

"Yes, the elite Dragon Team from our western city was dispatched. However, we were responsible for the perimeter while Captain Xiao Hua led the assault team inside."

Lin Chen already knew what happened next. After entering, Xiao Hua and the others were ambushed, none survived, and there was even an explosion that destroyed the entire warehouse. Xiao Hua only left behind a bloodied garment.

Officially, it is claimed that Xiao Hua likely died in the explosion, turned to ashes, yet how could this bloodied garment exist!

If someone was blown into pieces, their clothing shouldn't remain.

So there can only be one possibility: the explosion site was forged by someone.

"Xiao Qi, I need to visit the crime scene." Lin Chen suddenly stood up and said.

"Okay, but it's late. Maybe tomorrow?" Xin Xiaoqi suggested awkwardly.

"I can't wait till tomorrow. Let's go now." With these words, Lin Chen pulled Xin Xiaoqi and dashed outside.

"I haven't put on clothes yet, you!" Xin Xiaoqi yelled.

However, Lin Chen didn't relent, pulling her along as they ran out.

No sooner had they left than Jin Bingbing and Xiao Yushan emerged from their room.

Looking at Xin Xiaoqi's empty bedroom, Jin Bingbing stomped her foot angrily.

"That lousy brother must have taken Sister Xiao Qi to a room, not even dressed, how shameful."

Xiao Yushan, watching their departing car, frowned, "Those two must be secretly investigating the case without me."

Lin Chen was driving the car, speeding towards the scene.

Upon reaching the gate, Lin Chen noticed the guardhouse's lights were on.

"This place has been sealed off, Dragon Team guards here daily," Xin Xiaoqi said solemnly.

With that, Xin Xiaoqi was about to head towards the guardhouse, but Lin Chen stopped her.

"Let's sneak in."

With these words, Lin Chen and Xin Xiaoqi climbed over the wall, entering the warehouse.

Inside the warehouse, it was pitch dark.

"I can't see anything!" Xin Xiaoqi frowned.

Lin Chen said, "Just keep watch at the door for me. I'll investigate inside myself."

Saying that, Lin Chen ventured deeper into the warehouse.

In such darkness, others might see nothing.

However, Lin Chen could clearly discern everything inside.

In the center of the warehouse lay a massive crater, the surrounding area charred black, evidently caused by the explosion.

Lin Chen looked toward the walls of the warehouse, all pitch black.

Staring at the wall, Lin Chen's gaze intensified.

Some sections of the wall had been blackened by the explosion, while others appeared to be deliberately painted over.

Lin Chen lightly ran his hand along the wall, distinctly feeling traces of repair.

Clearly, someone was trying to cover up something.

Lin Chen scrutinized the cracks on the wall, certain a fierce fight had occurred here. Yet why did Xin Xiaoqi claim the people went in quietly and then caused a drastic explosion?

Xiao Hua's abilities were well-known to her; this battle must have been intense.

The painted portions on the wall could very well be marks left from that fight.

But calling such a battle peaceful, as Xin Xiaoqi described, made no sense!

Moreover, according to Xiao Qi, they arrived immediately after the explosion.

So how did the opponent have time to mend these walls?

Suddenly, Lin Chen recalled something and rushed toward the entrance.

Xin Xiaoqi stood by the door, arms crossed over her chest, shivering slightly.

Suddenly she felt a wave of warmth wash over her.

"So warm." Xin Xiaoqi turned her head and was taken aback.

"Lin Chen, are you a ghost? How did you appear out of nowhere?" Xin Xiaoqi patted her chest, calming herself down.

"It's done; let's go." Lin Chen grinned.

The two slipped away from the warehouse quietly, and as soon as they left, a shadowy figure emerged from the darkness.

Amidst the pitch-blackness, the person's face was unseen, but their sinister grin revealed gleaming white teeth.

Inside the car, Lin Chen asked, "Did you communicate with the special operations team during your mission?"

"No, they got out of their car and immediately entered the site," Xin Xiaoqi replied.

Hearing Xin Xiaoqi's words, Lin Chen narrowed his eyes.

"Was Wu Xiong the overall commander for that operation?" Lin Chen continued.

"Yes, he was assigned just in time for this mission but screwed up. Yet, despite the mess he caused, he only received a minor reprimand. If my master were here, this would never have happened," Xin Xiaoqi grumbled.

Lin Chen gave a cold grunt, "This mission was doomed to fail from the start; it's all a conspiracy, and there's something wrong with Wu Xiong."

"Are you saying Wu Xiong sold out Sister Xiao Hua and the others?" Xin Xiaoqi was taken aback.

He not only betrayed them but also orchestrated the entire event. Xiao Hua's team acted a day earlier, while you arrived the next day, meaning you were all part of a charade for the higher-ups.

After hearing Lin Chen's analysis, Xin Xiaoqi's face changed.

No wonder something felt off about the whole ordeal; it was Wu Xiong's doing all along.

"What should we do now?" Xin Xiaoqi asked.

"You knowing this is enough, I've got a plan," Lin Chen said sternly.

"Tomorrow I'll attend the recruitment event, first to find clues at the Qiao family's place," Lin Chen thought for a moment and said.

Lin Chen and Xin Xiaoqi returned to their room, and suddenly the lights came on.

"Spill it, where did you two go?" Jin Bingbing and Xiao Yushan asked, their pretty faces icy.
