Super Soldier in Campus

Chapter 644: Heaven Aids Li Zhi? _1

"It's getting late. Let's get our two classes to line up!" Li Zhi cheerfully instructed the boys from his Industrial Management class to step forward. After comparing their heights, he finally picked ten boys.

The teams for the inter-departmental tug-of-war competition were standardized: twenty people per team, ten male and ten female. For the School of Management, Li Zhi and the Finance class monitor had already agreed on a plan. Since the Industrial Management class had more boys, who also generally seemed larger, they would provide all ten male participants. The Finance class, in turn, would provide ten girls to complete the team.

Students from both the Finance and Industrial Management classes were generally quite satisfied with this arrangement. The Industrial Management class was short on girls, so opportunities to get close to the girls from the Finance class were rare. If we're lucky, maybe a romance or two could blossom from today! they thought. As for the girls from the Finance class who volunteered for the tug-of-war... they were all heavyweight contenders, so their level of attractiveness was, well, predictable.

Of course, there were exceptions. For instance, the most shocking development was that Su Zi, one of the two great campus beauties from the Finance class, was actually participating in the tug-of-war competition. Truly a rare sight!

Seeing Su Zi approach, the eyes of the Industrial Management boys preparing to compete practically glowed green with excitement. A top-tier beauty like her... normally, we'd never get a chance to even brush against her. But in a tug-of-war competition, a little hand-holding or something similar? That's practically a given, isn't it?

HEH, HEH... Just as the Industrial Management boys were smirking triumphantly to themselves, they saw Su Zi walk straight up to Lin Feng and pat his shoulder with a smile. Instantly, they all froze, their gazes, a mixture of envy, jealousy, and resentment, fixed on Lin Feng as they silently cursed him.

"Hey, dummy Lin Feng, you'd better take care of me later, okay?" Su Zi said to Lin Feng, her face alight with a playful and joyful expression.

"You're participating in the tug-of-war too?" Lin Feng asked in surprise, looking at Su Zi's rather slender frame. This girl might have a hot body, but tug-of-war isn't a beauty pageant. Will she actually be any use on the team?

"Why else would I be rushing you if I wasn't participating? Hmph! Stupid Lin Feng, I'm actually very strong. Don't you underestimate me!" Su Zi pouted, looking at Lin Feng with dissatisfaction.

Lin Feng wordlessly pursed his lips. It wasn't that he underestimated Su Zi; more accurately, he'd never even considered her strength to be a factor. In his eyes, Su Zi's physical prowess was probably on par with that of a Persian cat...

Nevertheless, the tug-of-war competition began smoothly. The ten men and ten women from the School of Management lined up in alternating positions. Yang Ming, the most powerfully built among them, was assigned to the very end as the anchor.

From Lin Feng's group of four roommates, besides Wang Zikai, whose unremarkable height led to him not being selected, both Yang Ming and Zhong Jialiang were chosen as participants in the tug-of-war.

Lin Feng was placed in the second-to-last position, right in front of Yang Ming. Ahead of him was Zhong Jialiang. This meant that the two people he was closest to were both positioned towards the back end of the rope.

"Brother Feng, go for it! And Little Ming, Liang Zai, we're counting on you!" Wang Zikai shouted from outside the crowd, a gloating smile on his face. To him, not having to participate in such strenuous activity was fantastic; not only did it save him effort, but he could also enjoy the spectacle and sneak glances at the pretty girls.

"Damn, Kai Zi is so smug... This is probably the only time he can show off how his short stature gives him special privileges," Yang Ming said, looking at Wang Zikai with a hint of envy, his tone laced with sourness.

"Exactly. How can he be so arrogant when he wasn't even picked? If it were me, I'd have died of shame by now," Zhong Jialiang chimed in, his tone full of contempt.

"AHEM... You two, watch what you're saying. He's our brother, after all. Don't hit him where it hurts; show some consideration," Lin Feng said earnestly, glancing at Su Zi who was standing opposite them.

"Pah! Lin Feng, stop trying to act all innocent in front of me. You're the one who loves to kick people when they're down!" Su Zi retorted, mercilessly exposing Lin Feng's true colors with a gloating expression.

"Oooh... So there *is* something fishy going on..." Hearing Su Zi's accusation, Yang Ming and Zhong Jialiang exchanged gossipy looks, grinning as they stared at Lin Feng, waiting to see how he would explain himself.

"I did no such thing..." Lin Feng denied, shaking his head.

"You know perfectly well whether you did or not," Su Zi retorted. She recalled that terrifying incident when Lin Feng had almost made her perform oral sex on him. Wasn't that a prime example of him finding her mistake and kicking her when she was down? But this was an example she couldn't possibly share in front of everyone else.

Meanwhile, Li Zhi was meticulously explaining the key points of tug-of-war—how to lower the rope, lean back, dig in one's heels, and so on—speaking with an air of great authority, as if he were an expert.

However, hardly any of the boys present were listening. When Li Zhi had been selecting the tug-of-war participants, apart from Lin Feng, Yang Ming, and Zhong Jialiang, the rest were all boys on good terms with him. They had already discussed their plan to deal with Lin Feng, so they didn't need to hear it all again.

The reason Li Zhi was going over these details again was to execute a Blind Technique, trying to deceive Lin Feng and the other students who had come to cheer.

"School of Management, you're up soon!" a student council member in charge of match scheduling ran over to inform them.

Li Zhi winked at his friends, made a gesture, and then waved to the group. "It's our turn. Let's go!"

Lin Feng, oh Lin Feng, you forced my hand! Since we've already dropped all pretenses, I won't show you any mercy! Just wait until you fall flat on your face in front of the whole school; let's see how humiliated you feel then! Li Zhi chuckled inwardly as he pictured Lin Feng collapsing.

As luck would have it, or perhaps as if the heavens themselves were aiding Li Zhi, the School of Management's first opponent was none other than the team from the School of Physical Education—a team Lin Feng considered a formidable enemy.

If Lin Feng wanted to lead the Industrial Management class to first place on the leaderboard for the university sports meet, he had to find a way to defeat the School of Physical Education. This friendly match against students from the School of Physical Education really does feel like a test from the heavens!

Every student from the School of Physical Education came from an athletic background. Both the men and women were incredibly well-built and brimming with explosive power. Compared to the rather puffy and out-of-shape students from the School of Management, the men and women from the School of Physical Education looked far healthier.

Without a doubt, an event like tug-of-war, which tested both individual strength and overall team quality, was a piece of cake for the School of Physical Education. They almost invariably won the annual tug-of-war competition, taking first place.

And while the School of Management was known as the largest department, with a total student population similar to that of the School of Physical Education, it had long suffered from an imbalance where the female students generally overshadowed the male students. The overall physical condition of its male students was not strong, and they often lost to the School of Physical Education, getting eliminated early in competitions.

The tug-of-war competition was a direct single-elimination tournament. More importantly, each elimination match was seeded based on the principle of pitting similarly ranked teams against each other. This meant that although the School of Management wasn't inherently weak, this seeding rule often led to them being knocked out in the first round, which was quite embarrassing!
