Super Soldier in Campus

Chapter 465: Afraid You Won't Have the Chance to Make a Move_1

Because it was a formal challenge match, Lin Feng and Ding Min started with a jump ball. The referee threw the ball into the air, and the two leaped to grab it. Whoever seized the ball first gained the privilege of attacking first; thereafter, they would take turns attacking based on who secured the ball.

"I thought you were too scared of losing to show up!" Ding Min said, standing opposite Lin Feng. He casually loosened his muscles and shot Lin Feng a smirk. Glancing at Lin Feng's attire, he added with a laugh, "But since you've shown up dressed like that, I guess you're prepared to lose! If I were you, I'd start drafting my resignation letter right now!"

Lin Feng glanced at Ding Min with amusement and chuckled. "Can't you keep your mouth shut for once? Are you one of those players who's all talk?"

"Hmph, let's see if *you're* just all talk!" Ding Min snorted, lifting his gaze, ready for the jump ball.

TWEEET... The referee blew his whistle and gently tossed the basketball into the air.

Ding Min sprang high into the air, decisively grabbing the ball the referee had tossed with both hands. A flash of joy went through his mind as he landed triumphantly. He fixed his gaze on Lin Feng, only to find that Lin Feng hadn't even jumped.

"Why didn't you go for the ball?" Ding Min asked Lin Feng, puzzled. "Even though you're a few centimeters taller than me, getting the ball wouldn't necessarily have been easy, but you shouldn't have given up that quickly!"

"I'm giving you the first shot. Otherwise, I'm afraid you won't get a chance to shoot at all," Lin Feng said with a chuckle.

"Keep dreaming. Let's see how you plan on stopping me from shooting!" Ding Min, not buying Lin Feng's bluff at all, started dribbling the ball, preparing to make his attack.

A one-on-one match could be understood as a contest of individual defense. Since they alternated possession, if both players' skills were nearly equal, the scores would usually be close.

But the bet between Lin Feng and Ding Min stipulated that Lin Feng had to win 10-0; otherwise, it would count as Lin Feng's loss. This was an exceedingly difficult condition to meet.

Ding Min controlled the ball. He executed a crossover, sidestepping past Lin Feng while shielding the ball with his body. As he prepared to turn and shoot, he suddenly realized his hand was empty. The ball... was gone?!

He looked back in shock. Sure enough, Lin Feng was holding the basketball, chuckling at him.

"What on earth? How did he manage that?"

"All I saw was Lin Feng bend down, and the ball was in his hands! That's the legendary steal from between the legs, isn't it?"

"Damn, what kind of awareness and technique is that? It's like he's using a cheat!"

Ding Min's expression turned extremely sour. Lin Feng hadn't touched him at all, so there was no foul. However, he had no idea how Lin Feng had stolen the ball. Hearing the crowd's comments, Lin Feng had stolen the ball from between his legs? Could he really be that skilled?!

"See, didn't I tell you? Once I make my move, you won't get a chance to shoot. Such a shame, wouldn't you agree?" Lin Feng said with a smile, nonchalantly teasing Ding Min.

Ding Min's face turned pale as he grumbled, "You just got lucky this time! I still have plenty of chances!"

You don't have any chances left! Lin Feng shook his head and smiled, though he didn't say it out loud.

Now it was Lin Feng's turn to attack.

As Lin Feng dribbled the ball, even before he began his attack, he caused a minor stir among the onlookers.

"Damn! Lin Feng's dribbling skill is terrible! He can't control his power; it's all over the place, high one moment and low the next. I'm afraid he's going to lose the ball!"

"And his posture! It's worse than the most amateur player. How can he challenge Ding Min with skills like these? I admire his courage!"

"I heard Lin Feng is a reserve player for the department team. A department reserve player with this level of skill? If that's the case, couldn't I make the university team?"

Ignoring the waves of skepticism and ridicule washing over him like a tide, Lin Feng focused on dribbling the ball, slowly approaching the three-point line.

Ding Min stood just inside the three-point line, leisurely watching Lin Feng with a disdainful expression. However, he managed to refrain from taunting Lin Feng, merely crooking his finger, beckoning him closer.

"Tch! You want to steal my ball? Not giving you the chance!" Lin Feng muttered. He stopped his dribble about seven meters out, planted his feet, and casually launched a three-pointer.

Lin Feng was positioned a full step behind the three-point line. Ding Min hadn't put much effort into defending him at that distance, never expecting Lin Feng to shoot from there.

With that shooting form, I'd be shocked if it went in, Ding Min thought, not feeling at all threatened by Lin Feng's three-point attempt.

SWOOSH! Lin Feng's set shot from beyond the three-point line sailed smoothly through the net.

"Wow!"

"It went in! It actually went in! To score with a form like that... it's unbelievable!"

"Damn, what a fluke!"

However, the crowd's reaction clearly indicated that Ding Min's assessment was completely wrong.

Lin Feng had scored from a step behind the three-point line without even jumping! And he *still* made the shot!

Only then did Ding Min recall Liu Yunfeng's warning: "Lin Feng is extremely good at long shots; you absolutely cannot give him an open look." His expression was a bit awkward; Lin Feng scoring a three-pointer on the first possession was a serious blow to his pride.

Meanwhile, Wang Zikai, Zhong Jialiang, and Yang Ming appeared unfazed. Having already witnessed Lin Feng's long-range shooting prowess, they weren't surprised at all.

Finally, it was Ding Min's turn to attack again.

Lin Feng, grinning, looked at Ding Min and said, "Should I let you get a shot off this time?"

Lin Feng's words sent a slight chill down Ding Min's spine. He wanted Lin Feng to go easy on him, but he couldn't bring himself to ask for it.

Shaking his head stubbornly, Ding Min said, "If you're so good, steal the ball again!"

Ding Min resolved to face Lin Feng head-on and drive straight at him; he absolutely would not give Lin Feng another chance to steal the ball!

However, before Ding Min could even decide on his offensive move, he felt his hand go light—Lin Feng had snatched the ball away again.

"You…" Ding Min was dumbfounded. Seeing Lin Feng holding the basketball, he could hardly believe his eyes.

When did that happen? Lin Feng stole the ball right from under my nose, and I didn't even notice?

"See, I stole your ball again," Lin Feng said earnestly, as if stating a simple fact. "If I don't go easy on you, you have no chance of getting past my defense!"

"Impossible! You definitely fouled me! I was dribbling so low; how could you possibly take the ball without touching me?" Ding Min refused to believe Lin Feng had stolen the ball while he was dribbling. He was convinced Lin Feng had cheated!

"Just because you can't do something, don't assume others can't either. You're projecting your own limitations. I'm not you, after all," Lin Feng said, shaking his head. He slowly backed up past the three-point line, almost to the half-court line. Then, quite casually, he threw the ball with both hands.

Ding Min watched in disbelief as Lin Feng shot from near the half-court line. His gaze was locked on the trajectory of the ball as it flew through the air.

The perfect parabola descended, its destination: the hoop.

SWOOSH! The ball went in!
