Chapter 556: Catching Loaches
"Director Chi, what's the matter that has you so flustered?" Lin Shen asked with puzzlement as he looked at the dried-up, skinny old man before him.
This old Celestial named Chi Xinhuo had feathers on his wings that were nearly all greyed out, some places even balding, he was of such an advanced age that he looked as if he were about to be buried.
Yet he was the head of the security department of the Celestial Master Institute, responsible for guarding and ensuring the safety of the institute.
Lin Shen doubted whether Chi Xinhuo could still fight, even as a Nirvana Being, considering how aged he'd become, it was likely that not much strength was left in him.
"Who knows whose pet wandered into our institute and devoured all the vegetables in the backyard, if we don't capture it soon, we won't even have vegetables to eat in the future," Chi Xinhuo said as he dragged Lin Shen towards the backyard.
Ouyang Yudu also followed them to the backyard, where they saw a creature that looked like a cat munching on a large cabbage.
Lin Shen was taken aback for a moment—the creature was clearly silicon-based, how could it eat cabbage? And even if it were a real cat, they are carnivores, they wouldn't resort to eating cabbage no matter how hungry.
"Dean, we must act quickly to capture it, or we'll lose all our vegetables, it would be best to capture it alive so we can demand compensation from its owners when they come looking," Chi Xinhuo said.
"Isn't capturing a cat part of your job as the head of security? If you can't handle a cat, how are you the head?" That's what Lin Shen initially wanted to say, but considering Chi Xinhuo's balding wings and the fact that they didn't really have any other staff in the security department, he couldn't really blame him.
"Fine, I'll do it," Lin Shen said, and with a flick of his finger, a silent Finger Sand flew toward the little cat's acupoints.
He had assumed that his Acupoint-Striking from Afar would be easy, instantly securing the little cat.
Yet, to his surprise, after he unleashed his Finger Sand, the little cat seemingly casually let out a laugh, unexpectedly dodging it, and the Finger Sand silently burrowed into the soil.
"This little thing sure is lucky," Lin Shen didn't take it too seriously and flicked another Finger Sand, but the cat just happened to roll on the ground and dodged it again.

At that point, Lin Shen realized things weren't so simple, he frowned slightly, and then charged forward, using the Thousand Men's Pointer skill, attempting to hit the little cat.
The little cat was very fast, obviously an Ascension Level creature, it maneuvered through the air, again and again, dodging Lin Shen's Finger Skill attacks.
Lin Shen exerted all his strength but couldn't touch the little cat at all.
What was more infuriating was that the little cat didn't even run away, instead, it seemed to be taunting him, standing opposite Lin Shen and tilting its head whenever he paused, a look of disdain humanely crossing its face.
"Where did this little rascal come from, it's so rude," Lin Shen angrily donned his Carapace, ready to activate his skill and enhance his speed, determined to capture the little cat.
"Dean, don't worry so much, we still don't know whose pet this is, if it turns out to be owned by one of our own and it gets injured, that wouldn't be good, let this old man give it a try," Chi Xinhuo hurriedly stopped Lin Shen.
Lin Shen thought to himself: "If you could handle it, why did you come looking for me? Didn't you call for me because you couldn't deal with it?"
Just as he was pondering, he suddenly saw Chi Xinhuo make a move. His speed was not very fast, but with a simple reach, he caught the little cat in his hand.
Lin Shen saw clearly that the cat, like before, tried to escape, but somehow it couldn't manage to get away and was easily captured.
"Director Chi, that's quite a skillful catch," Lin Shen said, squinting at Chi Xinhuo, silently cursing in his heart, "This security director clearly has such skill, yet purposely called me over to make a fool of myself, truly harboring ill-intentions."
"Just a little trick, if the dean is interested, he might want to look at this. If anything is unclear, you can come and ask me later," Chi Xinhuo said as he pulled out a book from inside his coat and stuffed it into Lin Shen's hands, then walked away with the cat.
Lin Shen was slightly startled, as he could naturally sense that something was amiss.
"It seems that the Security Director intentionally wanted to give you this," Ouyang Yudu walked over and said.
Lin Shen looked at the cover of the book, which was sloppily inscribed with three characters: "Mudfish Catching."
"It looks like it should be, probably because he sees that I'm not very capable as a dean and wants to help me out," Lin Shen said with a smile as he flipped through the contents.
The content was a grappling technique, likewise written in the same sloppy handwriting.
Although the writing was ugly, the more Lin Shen read, the more shocked he became.
This grappling skill called "Mudfish Catching" was surprisingly strange. Not only were the moves bizarre, but if one could master it completely, a suction force could be generated in the palm. Using that suction force in conjunction with the grappling technique made it even more unpredictable.
"Who would have thought that this security director, who usually just likes to play cards and drink, neglecting any serious business, actually has such a unique skill," Lin Shen was amazed. Although the skill was not considered very powerful, it was distinct and unexpected.
The security director returned to his office and sat down in front of the mahjong table, telling the others, "I've given him 'Mudfish Catching.' Whether he can master it or not is up to his own ability. If he can't, he can't blame me."
"Just do our best. Our dean's strength and talent are still decent. After all, not many in the Celestial Race can defeat an Ascender like Kristin," the logistics director said while shuffling the tiles.
"I doubt he can master it. After all, our Huo's 'Mudfish Catching Skill' was even praised by the Heavenly Emperor back in the day. The former dean also wanted Huo to spread this skill, but even after teaching for so long, there weren't many who could learn it," Vice Dean An said.
"What do you mean, not many could learn it. Not a single person learned it, to be precise. If it was easy to learn, how could it be considered a unique secret technique?" Chi Xinhuo bragged confidently.
"Huo, you weren't holding back, were you? You can't be holding back with our dean, we're still counting on him to make us money. He must learn it. His skill set is too limited; he needs more techniques to handle various situations," Vice Dean An said.
"Nonsense, am I that kind of person? I never withhold when I teach," Chi Xinhuo retorted, but then added, "However, 'Mudfish Catching' is something I comprehended from my family's secret techniques, which are not to be divulged. Therefore, parts involving the family's secret techniques, I've taken out before."
"Don't worry, what I gave our dean is the complete version handwritten by me personally. If he can't master it, he can't blame me," Chi Xinhuo explained quickly, seeing the disapproving looks from the others.
