Chapter 279 - 279 Razor Fang Island
Chapter 279: Chapter 279 Razor Fang Island
Tian Xun piloted the flying vehicle and dropped Lin Shen back at Ocean Heaven Island. Lin Shen wandered around the island for half a day, hunting a few Base Variant Creatures, before finally mounting the Evil Dragon and leaving for the nearby Razor Fang Island.
Cosimo had been keeping an eye on Lin Shen’s movements and hesitated about whether to make a move when he learned that Lin Shen had left Ocean Heaven Island.
When he found out that Tian Xun was heading back inside Giant Ring Star to meet with people from the An and Chi families, Cosimo could no longer restrain his murderous intent.
Tian Xun wanted to deal with him quickly, and Cosimo faced the same issue. With the Nirvana Being from the Metichi Family arriving soon, he would have to leave Giant Ring Star shortly. If he did not act now, he would lose the chance.
No longer hesitating, Cosimo directly boarded his flying vehicle and rushed toward Lin Shen’s location.
Lin Shen arrived on Razor Fang Island, riding the Evil Dragon. The Evil Dragon flew over the island without being subject to any no-fly restrictions.
Lin Shen had already learned from Tian Xun that the no-fly restrictions on Razor Fang Island did not apply to physical flying but specifically targeted those who relied on pure ability to fly.
For instance, creatures with wings and flying vehicles were unaffected on Razor Fang Island.
However, the flying abilities of Ascenders and those with Life Base were indeed restricted on the island. Even Nirvana Beings couldn’t fly there unless they were a species with wings like Tian Xun.
As the Evil Dragon flew in the sky, Lin Shen spotted numerous Razor Fang Beasts, bearing a resemblance to porcupines.
They had fanged mouths and bodies covered in spines, resembling hedgehogs, and their size compared to elephants.
Lin Shen had the Evil Dragon land on the island and used his right hand to kill several Razor Fang Beasts.
On his right hand, he wore a pair of fingerless gauntlets made of black crystal. These were extremely close in color to Lin Shen’s carapace. The gauntlets were very thin, clinging tightly to the skin once put on, but it did not hinder the flexibility of his palms.
On the black gauntlets, there was a special pattern made of white crystal inlays. It was unclear what the pattern was, looking quite strange, as though it was some kind of symbol, but its meaning was unknown.
Tian Xun said these gauntlets were named “Stubborn Lone Will,” and Lin Shen wasn’t sure if that was their real name or if Tian Xun was subtly hinting at him not to act alone.
Lin Shen had also asked Tian Xun whether others knowing he wore these gauntlets to kill Cosimo would have any impact on him.
But Tian Xun told Lin Shen to use them boldly without worrying about that issue.
Lin Shen himself was quite confident. He had his advantages, and with so much information provided by Tian Xun, it was like playing a card game where Cosimo, the landlord, had to play openly against him.
With all the preparations, even though Lin Shen’s cards were slightly weaker, he still had a chance.
The only frustration was that in the past two or three days, the Sacrificial Halo hadn’t accumulated many offerings, and the Attribute stored within it had only reached a little over 140 points, not yet 150.
Considering the numbers, Lin Shen figured that with his own Attribute, the boost from the Surfing Fist, the Stubborn Lone Will Gauntlets, and the potion provided by Tian Xun, his chances were quite significant. It mainly depended on how he played his cards.
Played well, he could win; played poorly, the chance of losing was also significant.
While Lin Shen was on Razor Fang Island killing Razor Fang Beasts, the Pioneer Corps was exploring Giant God Mountain.
Giant God Mountain was immensely vast, making the famous mountains on the Human Mother Planet look like mere dirt mounds in comparison.
The shape of this mountain is truly unique, with the massif resembling a lotus flower—peak upon peak rising higher and higher, yet the main peak is somewhat lower than the surrounding ones.
For the past few days, the Pioneer Corps has been exploring the periphery, advancing at a snail’s pace; they haven’t reached the area of the main peak yet.
“This damn place, why is it so strange? The weather is cold one moment and hot the next; it’s practically killing me,” complained a Mutator with a pig’s head, grumbling as he scouted ahead.
“I’ve heard there are Nirvana Level creatures within the mountain, which is why the environment here is so affected,” another Mutator with a wolf’s face commented.
“Nirvana Creatures!” The pig-headed Mutator was shocked, “Aren’t we just marching to our deaths then?”
“You’re overestimating yourself. Nirvana Creatures normally wouldn’t bother with small fries like us. As long as we don’t bungle into them, Nirvana Creatures won’t go out of their way to kill us,” whispered the wolf-faced Mutator, “Places with Nirvana Creatures tend to have a higher chance of encountering lower-level mutant creatures. I’ve heard that some of the other teams have already hunted some mutants. If we’re lucky and kill a few mutant creatures, we might get enough points to request a transfer out of the Pioneer Corps.”
“Let’s hope we’re that lucky,” the pig-headed Mutator’s eyes lit up at the prospect of encountering many mutant creatures.
As Lin Shen was hunting Razor Fang Beasts, he noticed that the offerings had increased rapidly today; in just a short while, the Sacrificial Halo had gained two more Attribute points.
Suddenly, a flying craft appeared in the sky, heading straight for Lin Shen and landed nearby.
“They’ve come so quickly; it seems Cosimo is indeed eager to kill me,” Lin Shen thought Cosimo wouldn’t have arrived so soon.
In fact, Cosimo had shown up not long after Lin Shen had arrived at Razor Fang Island.
Lin Shen immediately utilized his Base Mutation power, enveloping his entire body in a protective Carapace.
Cosimo was much stronger than he was, and there was no room for carelessness. Anything that could be prepared in advance had to be prepared.
The door of the flying craft opened, and the person who emerged was indeed Cosimo, with no surprise or unexpected twist.
“Lin Shen, we meet again.” Cosimo gave a smile that didn’t reach his eyes, creating a somewhat uncomfortable atmosphere.
“If possible, I’d rather not meet you,” Lin Shen sighed.
“That’s not up to you,” said Cosimo icily, “What did Tian Xun do with you these last few days?”
Cosimo didn’t kill Lin Shen outright because he wanted to know what Lin Shen had been doing in the palace of Tian Xun—to find out if Tian Xun had taken him under her wing and if she had cuckolded him.
In his heart, Cosimo already considered Tian Xun his own, though in reality, she had never given him an opportunity.
“What else could I be doing? It’s always the same things. The Star Lord is quite clingy; my back and waist are still aching,” Lin Shen said while rubbing his lower back, with a smug look and a sideways glance at Cosimo, “Cosimo, we’re from the same place; show me some respect in the future. In consideration of our hometown bond, I might put in a good word for you with the Star Lord.”
Lin Shen purposefully taunted Cosimo, hoping he would lose his rationality and directly resort to Celestial Descent.
Cosimo was indeed enraged by Lin Shen, with a glint of cold fury in his eyes.
Regrettably for Lin Shen, the provoked Cosimo didn’t lose his sanity; his resolve to kill Lin Shen only grew firmer.
“A fellow townsman, you say? I’ll send you back to your hometown right now,” Cosimo reached out and a multitude of golden particles sprayed from his hand, coalescing into a golden scepter that shone with a radiant light ripple, instantly making Lin Shen feel as if his body had become heavier.
