Chapter 1174: Conference
"After securing their secrets as well as the favor of the royal family, I never thought you'd manage to get the biggest link to our targets… Is there even a need to form four teams?" Vivian let out a long sigh.
"Well, my name is not out there yet, but I've gotten a grasp on how I should proceed as a mercenary. If you need my help, I will head there immediately." Revon sounded calm, as though he had expected everything.
"From what I can see, the people here are going to sniff out the device in just two weeks. In fact, they have been suspicious about the phenomenon in the imperial palace. That must be from the test," reported Neyeid.
"So, the conference is indeed possible. We can hear all of you." Evelyn crossed her arms. "The communication ring only allows one-on-one talk. However, Team Academy has three communication rings. Each ring is used to contact one group and put the rings near each other so that we can hear each other's voices."
"Yeah." Nathan nodded.
"That's indeed innovative." Neyeid nodded. "We don't have to meet with teleportation anymore or let Bella repeat the same thing at least three times."
"Vivian stopped looking so proud." Melissa's voice suddenly echoed.
"You two, stop fighting." Bella sounded like she had a hard time taking care of Melissa and Vivian.
"So, what are we supposed to do now? I don't think you arranged this conference just because you want to test it, right?" Revon asked.
Nathan paused for a moment. "Yes. For now, I'm planning to visit this grand duke to find all the information related to the Death Society.
"Revon, you and Neyeid might have to work together soon. Due to the scale of this operation, there's a chance that the country can collapse in this economy.
"Hence, I want to prevent it from happening."
"Indeed. If they collapse, we will be in trouble next. More enemies on our continent." Neyeid agreed.
"Hence, when they figure out about the cloud-repelling device, I want you to enter their circle by offering this. Imply that you have a connection with me."
"I don't mind, but will it be fine for you? After all, you're making a deal with the dynasty."
"The emperor talked big about helping their rivals so that they could continue growing, so he couldn't really say I'm breaking any rules, not that there are any to begin with."
Neyeid thought for a moment. "I understand. So, I will become the main distributor for this device in the empire, yes?"
"Yes. Your connection with nobles will be on a whole different level after this. I can't imagine what will happen next, so you should proceed with caution. Because I have sped up everything on my part, the connection I establish with the noble here is not firm."
"I see. A firm connection is good for creating a foothold. The emperor might have done it so that you can't take root here. He must have found out that you will return to your continent after all this is over, so he doesn't want the dynasty to get hurt because of that connection."
"Yes. However, it will be different if you are a merchant."
"Fair enough. A merchant is just a person who seeks wealth, so losing one won't be a big deal. Do you want me to erase all traces of you?"
"If possible. Also, try to manufacture the device on your own. First, gather the craftsmen and the materials. Also, secure one trusted craftsman if possible. I would like to make something later."
"Got it."
"Because of this, Team Merchant will be targeted due to the monopoly. Hence, Team Mercenary will work together with you."
Revon finally understood his role. "All right. It's normal for a mercenary to protect a merchant."
"Yes. As for the blueprints… I have made some adjustments, so I guess it's better to follow my blueprints." Nathan paused for a moment. "Let's see… Gather all the craftsmen and materials first. We will come to you to give the blueprints after getting the information from the grand duke."
"Understood," Revon and Neyeid answered at the same time.
"For Team Academics, you have to find a way to get the manuals. Better manuals are good, but it's fine for basic manuals as well. This way, people have the foundation they can follow to improve it once we bring it back to Gratzel."
"I don't mind, but my dear Nathan, doesn't this mean we don't get any important part in taking down our enemies?" Melissa coquettishly asked. Her voice was sweet, as if she were asking from her lover.
"Stop seducing my disciple!"
"Stop being jealous, nerd!"
"You…"
Nathan understood how hard it was for Bella from the conversation alone. Despite their arguments, they were considered rivals who could actually trust each other's backs.
After contemplating, Nathan replied, "You are looking into their power. If you can figure out their power, it means we can figure out how to deal with them. Right now, they are monsters who have integrated the power of two continents.
"We can do the same, but compared to them, who have done it for years, the level is not the same. So, we will need knowledge about their power to figure them out.
"It might impact the plan I might come up with, so please research the power intensively."
"Fine. I will do my best to research their power. I'll definitely do much better than your teacher, so why don't I become your teacher? You know there are certain privileges if you become my student. You can—mmmhhh!"
"You bitch. I'm truly going to kill you!" Vivian snapped.
Everyone could hear their arguments from the ring. Bella smiled wryly when looking at them before awkwardly saying, "If there's nothing else, we should stop here. I'm going to stop them."
"It must be hard on you, Bella."
"Hahaha. Don't mind it. Don't you know that the more you fight, the closer you are? Look at them. If they were the opposite gender, I'm sure they would have multiple children already." Bella chuckled. "Bye-bye."
"See you later." Revon stopped pouring his energy into the communication ring, cutting the connection off.
"Good luck." Neyeid followed suit.
"Goodbye." Nathan nodded.
Evelyn looked at Nathan turning off the communication ring. "So, it's time to meet the grand duke?"
Nathan smiled. "Yeah. Let's begin the second phase of our plan."
