Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 1157: Power

"Amelia greets Father." Amelia bowed politely.

"Looks like you have been doing something behind my back, Amelia." The marquis squinted his eyes.

Amelia's heart skipped a beat and immediately fell to her knees. "My apologies. I have caused you another problem."

"I didn't say anything about it being a problem, though."

"Eh?" Amelia lifted up her face. There wasn't a trace of anger on his face.

"Take your seat." The marquis extended his hand to the empty seat in front of him.

Amelia hesitated for a moment but eventually sat down.

The marquis observed her for a moment before asking, "So, how were you able to secure such an opportunity?"

"If you are talking about Mr. Nathan… then I don't think I have done anything special to secure that opportunity." Amelia shook her head. "I just believe that Mr. Nathan is handing me that opportunity because he wants to hand it to someone. I just happen to be that someone."

The marquis tapped the table multiple times while contemplating. "I see. If you were me, what would you do next? Would you mobilize our entire force to steal their thing? We have gotten the blueprints, so we can simply seize them. I haven't heard anything about the Reckmoon family. They must be commoners. Even if his fiancee is stronger than me, I can simply call stronger people to help."

Amelia answered without hesitation. "That can't be done."

"Your reason?"

"Mr. Nathan has shown a Space Tool. This means his familiar must have a space element. If we harm him, he can easily escape. If he works with others, our family will become a laughingstock."

"Then how about you seduce him? Has he known anything about the rumor about your body?"

"I don't think so. However, I don't think such a plan will work. His fiancee is much more beautiful and stronger than me. Although I'm unable to see her full face, I'm sure that women who can be more beautiful than her are less than what we can count on our fingers.

"Instead of using any dirty tricks, we should approach him as both a businessman and a noble."

"Elaborate." The marquis' expression turned solemn.

"What I mean is that we should treat him with sincerity and trust, which are the foundation of a merchant, as well as integrity and support, which are the foundation of a noble.

"Sometimes, people have been playing all the dirty tricks all this time, fully aware that if they let their guard down just for a second, they will lose something precious… that we forget people are just humans."

"!!!" The marquis' voice became chilling. "Are you talking about your mother?"

"…" She didn't say anything, but that silence had given more than an answer.

"Looks like I have been wrong about you." The marquis closed his eyes. "I have always been grateful to you for not doing anything special, but that is because I have given up as both a noble and a father.

"Your mother doesn't hesitate to leave me and return to her family the moment she learns the severity of this disaster."

"You may have given up on me as a father, but I don't think you have given up on me as a noble. If you have, you won't give me any education or other important things that can make my life smooth, or even entrust Manager Crow, who in turn trusts my decision on this occasion."

The marquis sighed. "Is there anything you want?"

"Please take over the project and forgive me for using your gifts to prove my sincerity to Mr. Nathan."

The marquis was stupefied but soon shook his head. "I'm not talking about that. I'm merely asking you… If you have the power, what do you wish to achieve?"

"!!!" It was Amelia's turn to be surprised. "Father…"

"I will let you take care of this project. So, speak your mind."

"I wish…" Amelia looked down. She had met so many scornful gazes for things despite having never done anything wrong. Misfortune simply struck her when she was born.

It might influence her decision this time, but Amelia didn't think she would regret it.

"I wish to become a human. People have always seen me as something even more worthless than a human. My mother looked at me as if I were a mistake. Although the bond between us can't be called a normal family, you were the only one who had provided everything for me.

"I wish to become a human, a human called Amelia Lindwurm, your daughter."

The marquis felt as if his heart was being squeezed by an invisible hand. It was hurt and empty, but after that pain disappeared, the satisfying feeling that appeared next washed everything away.

"I will give you that chance. The Prophet has given us a divination that an opportunity will come, and you are one of the designated people to receive that opportunity.

"I will give you the chance to grab that opportunity. Now that you have it, what do you plan to do next?"

Amelia fell silent for a moment before saying, "I will present it to His Imperial Majesty. His Imperial Majesty would definitely love this device because it can reduce the food cost significantly and strengthen our borders.

"However, I wish to keep Mr. Nathan's wish as well. I just don't have the power to achieve it."

"Looks like my words are not direct enough." The marquis stopped her. "I'm telling you that you can access all my power to seize that opportunity."

Amelia's body trembled before nodding her head. She reworded her plans and told everything about what she was thinking.

This was probably the first time the marquis had listened to his daughter for this long. Although she had provided all kinds of education to his daughter, he had never realized that his daughter wasn't as useless as he originally thought.

While it wasn't perfect, he recognized that her ability was above average, despite not having any experience in this field.

After two hours, the marquis declared, "Do it well and you will become the next manager of this territory. No one will be able to look down on you anymore, including me."

"Understood. I thank you for this opportunity."
