Chapter 152: Seal Broken
"When it's going, I'm actually starving," Lyra said. Nolan brought out the key and opened it. Celia and Linda rushed inside as the scent hit them — luxurious furniture, chandeliers, fine food.
"Wow. We are truly spoiled," Celia said. Linda nodded. Instantly the two of them put on aprons and went to the kitchen to start preparing a dish.
"It didn't come back with this word," Lyra muttered.
"Well, yeah. There would be no need for that. I don't even know why I wanted to take it in the first place," Nolan said. "But I'm sure a way for me to get stronger is through using a sword. That was the only reason. But no one in the tournament is strong enough to even make me stronger."
"Yes, no one," Lyra agreed. "But still… the life-consuming technique is a terrible one. Celia and Linda still want to face Cora and Sela. What do you think?"
"Well, the best option is that I prefer they don't fight those two," Nolan said. "Sela may also be capable of using life-consume, and I don't want to see anyone lose a leg. But if something happens where I see Celia or Linda in danger, even if it means kicking the fight to a halt or killing someone myself, I will step in to stop it with my fists."
"That would be the best way," Lyra said. "But still… if you do it aggressively you might be captured or arrested."
"Why are you worried about that?" Nolan snapped. "If something like that happens and I'm involved, I won't give in. That's why I said in case the world is after me or something I want to build a kingdom of monsters, where they all obey me and stay like my wyvern. I already tamed a Goblin General; I haven't even used him. Same with wyverns and other goblins. Before we leave Sindra this time, we'll need to tame a Minotaur. I want to have at least one thousand monsters under my command before we leave."
"Same," Lyra said. "And for some reason… I also want the Divine Dragon King…"
Nolan smiled as the two of them stepped inside.
Yeah, that is quite an ambition. And you know there are big differences in strength between humans and monsters. If you gather enough minotaurs or even orcs, a lone Rank C can barely take an orc; it takes a Rank C party to handle a king orc. So yes, you need numbers, that's a sensible plan. Still, if you wanted me to destroy the world without you doing anything, I could," Lyra said.
"I'm not saying I will, and I hope nothing like that ever happens," Nolan said. "I believe in Celia and Linda. They're getting stronger; I can feel it. While they're here they need to improve their stamina and their ability to fight for long periods."
"If they can do that, Cora won't stand a chance," Lyra said. "Yeah, but are you really sure you want to try to tame the Divine Dragon King? I'm not sure what I said earlier, I just felt it. The seal seems broken."
"If it turns truly divine, it will be a brutal fight," Lyra continued. "You might die for real this time."
Nolan shook his head. "I'm not saying don't try, but be cautious. The Divine Dragon King isn't something to toy with. If the seal is gone, even a little, things could get out of hand fast."
Yeah, he isn't. Like I told you, we usually spar. But if I go all out, and he goes all out, I won't win. I would lose instantly. I mean, the Divine Dragon King doesn't just have ordinary flames. The flames are as powerful as the hot as the hot plasma of the sun," Lyra said.
I haven't met him yet, but he's actually stronger than me. Stronger than you. I know it's going to be a tough match even if I go all out. I'll try to use everything I've got. Do you think time stops? If I stop time, will he be able to freeze?" Nolan said.
At the level you are now, probably not. He wouldn't But if you get stronger, I don't know how, and even if you could freeze time now, you still might not be able to. He could break through the space you create. The only thing that could help is if your level increases drastically, which I actually don't think is possible right now," Lyra said.
Well, it doesn't matter. For now we have to focus and find who's after me. Then we'll have more discussion about the Divine Dragon King, Nolan said.
Yes, Master, Lyra said, as she bent her head over Nolan and then turned and walked into the kitchen.
"What the hell does she mean the sun?" Nolan muttered. "The visible surface of the sun is only about 5,500°C, and the core's temperature is on the order of millions, closer to 15 million °C. How the hell would a dragon match that?" He squinted, replaying the words in his head. "If a divine dragon's flame really reached anything like the sun's core, it could actually wipe out nations. In my old life I studied science in high school, so I know this stuff. No wonder she said a divine dragon could destroy the world. If its fire is even remotely that hot, do I stand a chance? I hope she's exaggerating. When the time comes, I'll find out for myself."
"What are you guys preparing?" Lyra asked as she stepped into the kitchen.
"Well… we're making omelettes," Celia replied.
"Wow, it's been a while since I've tasted your cooking. Let me see… how good you really are," Lyra said with a teasing smile.
"Hey, no fair. You're a lady just like us. You should join in and cook," Linda said.
"Obviously not. I'm not meant for cooking—I'm meant for eating," Lyra replied with a grin.
"Hey, if you don't come help, you won't get to eat. Do something… even washing the dishes counts," Celia said.
