Chapter 2297: Another Victory
"Report! General, in the battle with the enemy, our army killed Marshal Beckett Cooper, slain 40,000 enemy troops, captured 60,000, with our army suffering over 11,000 deaths and 10,000 seriously injured."
A general quickly reported the entire situation to Peter Brown as the battlefield assessment had been completed.
Died 10,000?
Peter Brown looked at the tragic situation and thought that even the Gene Soldiers fought extremely fiercely.
Thinking about it, it's understandable. The dead or seriously injured were probably the 30,000 who first engaged the enemy. Without those 30,000 holding the frontline, this battle would have been uncertain.
For Gene Soldiers, being seriously injured isn't a major issue. They have the ability to heal quickly and will recover fully in no time.
In other words, in this battle against the Army of One Hundred Thousand, over 10,000 were killed.
Peter Brown was satisfied with this outcome; on the battlefield, loss of life is inevitable, and such attrition is bearable for him.
"What's the situation in the city?"
"During the battle in Ling Distant City, our army had over 5,000 dead, over 10,000 seriously injured, killed 30,000 of the enemy, captured 70,000, and rescued 40,000 of our POWs."
Peter Brown was startled and said, "Weren't there only about 30,000 POWs?"
"General, we gathered some POWs from other places, making it over 40,000 now, all rescued and concentrated in one place as per your instructions."
Peter Brown contemplated carefully.
Outside the city, 11,000 died, 10,000 seriously injured; inside the city, over 5,000 died, and over 10,000 seriously injured. In total, nearly 40,000 troops are unable to fight.
"Order, distribute weapons to the POWs of our army, let them and our 10,000 soldiers guard the city and watch over POWs. The rest will go out of the city immediately; we will engage the reinforcements from Devotion City!"
Peter Brown's fighting spirit soared.
A force of 130,000 has lost 40,000, and another 10,000 will stay behind. This leaves him with only 80,000 for battle.
However, Peter Brown's confidence was soaring; naturally, he was not worried about 80,000 taking on the 200,000 troops of the enemy.
Of course, Peter Brown understood that the enemy was unlikely to send out all 200,000 troops. At least tens of thousands would be left to guard the city, with around 100,000 heading their way.
No need for ambushes, just face them directly!
When Peter thought of this, the troops had already set off.
The greatest advantage of Gene Soldiers is their unquestioning obedience; as long as Peter Brown commands, they obey to the letter.
Eighty thousand troops marched grandly.
Upon receiving Beckett's plea for help, Marshal Arthur Murphy of Innovation City immediately gathered forces without delay.
However, after asking about the enemy's military situation in detail, he learned that the enemy had first sent out 30,000 and later an additional 50,000. This meant the enemy had 80,000 troops. In his opinion, although this force had an advantage, it was roughly on par with Beckett Cooper's Army of One Hundred Thousand. He believed dispatching 100,000 troops would be sufficient.
With this mindset, Marshal Arthur Murphy quickly led 100,000 troops on the march.
As they hastened, some defeated soldiers claimed they fought intensely but didn't know the specifics.
Knowing Ling Distant City was a critical stronghold, Arthur Murphy dared not retreat and kept advancing.
Upon reaching, he saw Peter Brown's 80,000 troops standing there in formation.
Finished?
Only now did Arthur Murphy consider that Beckett Cooper could have been defeated.
But, upon noticing they had only 80,000 troops, his fighting spirit rose. He thought the enemy, having just fought fiercely, might not have much combat power left. Now was the time to annihilate them.
"Kill!"
With this thought, he didn't hesitate to command his 100,000 troops to charge forth.
Good! Well-timed!
Peter Brown feared they might flee. Seeing them charge, he was delighted and ordered his troops to charge too.
The two forces quickly clashed.
This time, Peter Brown's army fought much more easily. Facing two opponents was an effortless task. Under their desperate onslaught, Arthur Murphy's soldiers were instantly bewildered. They had never faced such fighting methods; the entire army fought as if unafraid of death.
As for the enemy's recklessness, even when lethal maneuvers were employed and struck them, the threat was minimal, failing to kill them immediately.
However, the enemy wielded massive swords and, with their frenzied techniques, blood rained down.
In just one encounter, the enemy collapsed.
Arthur Murphy's army was even inferior to Beckett Cooper's, an utter mixed-bag force.
After Peter Brown led a single charge, many surrendered.
After Creed personally killed Arthur Murphy, the 100,000 troops lost all fighting spirit.
Few were killed, only over 10,000. The remaining 90,000 all surrendered.
Looking at his own side, Peter Brown was speechless. Only a little over 1,000 had died; this was a complete victory.
Standing there in a daze, Peter Brown didn't intend to attack Innovation City. He had many other things to handle.
"Return to Ling Distant City!"
Peter Brown ordered.
The troops returned quickly, and nothing occurred in Ling Distant City.
After entering the city, Peter Brown strode towards the City Lord's Mansion.
Peter Brown now had a large number of Foreign Tribe POWs and 50,000 rescued soldiers in hand.
In and around Ling Distant City, there were 130,000 Foreign Tribe POWs captured, and another 90,000 here, making 220,000 Foreign Tribe POWs!
Peter Brown was genuinely surprised by the number of POWs.
Considering his own army, he still had nearly 90,000 Gene Soldiers and another 50,000 rescued POWs.
Peter Brown decided to focus on the Foreign Tribe POWs. For him, no matter their race, with genetic modifications they could become his loyal subordinates.
Add 220,000 to his 140,000, forming a 360,000 strong army. Such a force would give him footing in the Northern Region.
With a smile on his face, Peter Brown quickly arranged for personnel to organize and check the medical supplies.
