Chapter 16: Chapter 16
Henny's Point of View
The Duke embraced me, and we fell into the depths of the water. Suddenly, memories flooded back of the time he ruthlessly violated my body. Damn you, Felix! I will kill you!
We surfaced and quickly made our way into the dark forest. Felix held my hand, but I pulled away. I noticed the arrow lodged deeper in his shoulder, blood streaming from it.
"Don't touch me!" I snapped angrily.
"Okay," he replied, standing in front of me.
"Go back! I don't need you here!" I took a step away, but he followed.
"What is it?" I shouted in frustration.
"I will go with you, Henny. I must protect you from danger. This is your last chance to live—" I cut him off. How did he know this was my last chance?
"How do you know that?"
"It's because I've also come back to the past.
When you were in danger, I sacrificed my life for you, Henny. If you die, I'll die too." His words made me furrow my brow.
"I'm here to protect you. I will never force you again, Henny, but please let me stay by your side." My vision darkened with anger at this man.
"Stay? Do you have any idea how disgusting you are to me? Do you even realize what you're saying? Don't you feel guilty for what you've done? You ruined my personality and my life! The person I used to be is gone!" I paused, fighting back tears because I didn't want to cry in front of him.
"I'm completely broken! You shattered me into pieces, Duke Felix. Now tell me—do you deserve to stay by my side? How dare you have the courage to say that? Aren't you ashamed?"
"I accept that you'll never forgive me, Henny, but please just give me one more chance. Let me show you that I've completely changed. Just give me one month before you kill me. I'm begging you, even if you don't forgive me. It's okay; just let me stay with you..." He knelt before me, and I was shocked to hear him sobbing.
"Just give me one month, Henny. Then after that, you can kill me." I took his hand and walked deeper into the forest.
"Don't expect me to go easy on you. This is your choice," I warned him.
"Thank you, Henny!" But then I was startled when the Duke suddenly collapsed in front of me. Tsk! I had no choice but to drape his arm over my shoulder for support.
Peneloppe's Point of View
"Did you catch them?" I asked when the knights returned.
"No, Duchess; they jumped off a cliff. Unfortunately, that forest is full of monsters." It hurt to see Felix so desperate to chase after Henny while I'm supposed to be his beloved woman.
"Let's go back. Report to the Emperor that the maid abducted the Duke from his room. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Duchess!" We returned to the mansion where I unleashed all my anger.
"FELIX! WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THAT WOMAN OVER ME? I'M YOUR LOVER AFTER ALL! WHAT MADE YOU CHANGE LIKE THIS? DID SHE BEWITCH YOU?" I fell to my knees on the floor, weakened by the rage coursing through me.
"I told you before, Peneloppe... Felix is scum." I was startled to see Lukas in my chamber.
"What are you doing here?" He ignored my question and suddenly kissed me passionately as I closed my eyes.
"Let me give you pleasure, Peneloppe. I will make you forget him tonight, my beloved Peneloppe." With my eyes closed, I responded to his kisses.

Henny's Point of View
Tsk! F*ck this life! I leaned the Duke against a large tree because my body could no longer handle the exhaustion. Thankfully, the moonlight provided some illumination. I sat down in front of him and decided to take a moment to rest while tending to his wounds.
I tore a strip from my long sleeve and carefully removed the arrow lodged near his shoulder before taking off his shirt.
"I want you to die right now; however, since you've asked for a month's grace, I'll grant it—but don't think for a second that it means I've changed my mind about killing you. I swear you'll lose your life at my hands," I said as I pressed down on his wound to stop the bleeding.
He seemed unconscious now; this was my chance to treat his injury. Luckily, I had brought a needle with me and took some fabric from my skirt to stitch up his wound.
"Just endure the pain," I began stitching his injury and tied it with fabric from my skirt since it was long enough.
I finished bandaging him just as I heard noises approaching us. Quickly, I grabbed the sword that belonged to a knight and prepared myself as five wolves emerged from the grass in front of us.
I positioned myself in front of the Duke; we couldn't become dinner for these wolves. One wolf lunged at me but I managed to stab it in its throat with the sword. However, another wolf bit into my leg as another one latched onto my shoulder and knocked me down.
The weight of the sword felt heavy in my hands as exhaustion set in; still, I summoned all my strength to pull out the sword and stab another wolf that bit into my shoulder before quickly turning around and stabbing yet another that had bitten into my leg.
I couldn't stand because two more wolves were waiting for their chance at me. Crawling on the ground, I leaned against the tree for support while keeping the sword pointed at both wolves.
"F*CK YOU ALL! COME HERE YOU BEASTS!" I yelled out curses as a way to bolster my courage. One wolf charged at me again but before it could reach me, I quickly plunged the sword into its neck. My body went numb from desperation as pain coursed through every inch of me.
The agony radiated through my leg and shoulder; all I wanted was to scream. One wolf sat down and lay down while staring at me without attacking again. An hour passed without any further attacks from them.
I endured all the pain coursing through me while glancing at Felix who remained unconscious. Tsk! It made me look like a bodyguard for this madman!
I leaned against the tree and slowly treated myself as best as possible while closing my eyes against each wave of pain that hit me. I couldn't die now—Henny must survive! You can do this!
Tears streamed down my face as those words echoed in my mind.
"You must live; there's no one else who can rely on but yourself. Don't trust anyone else."
What Henny didn't know was that Duke Felix could hear her when he regained consciousness. All he could do was blame himself for everything that had happened.
