Suddenly Reincarnated Into R-19 Novel

Chapter 14: Chapter 14

Henny's Point of ViewAs I entered the room, the head maid approached me and handed me something.

"Please take this to the Duke's office." She gave me a book before leaving. Suddenly, I felt a wave of anxiety in my chest, but I knew I had to go.

I walked toward his office and found him at his desk, writing.

"Duke, your book is here," I said, not looking at him, keeping my head bowed.

"Just place it over there," he instructed, pointing to another table. I went over and set it down, but in my nervousness, I accidentally knocked over a large vase next to the table.

I heard the loud crash and instinctively closed my eyes, bracing myself for his anger. But to my surprise, he lifted me and sat me down on his sofa.

"You're hurt," he said, standing up to retrieve his first aid kit from a small cabinet. I was puzzled—wasn't he going to scold me?

"Do you know how much that vase cost?" I blurted out, fearing the reprimand was finally coming.

"I'm sorry, Duke. I deserve to be punished for my carelessness."

"No, it's okay. Just be careful next time," he replied as he finished treating my wound.

But then something he said stopped me in my tracks. "Be careful?" Is it possible for a master to care for his servant? I pulled out the small knife from my uniform pocket and pointed it at him.

"Are you suspicious?" He raised both hands in surrender.

"What are you talking about? Do you know what you're doing?" My hands trembled as I held the knife toward him.

"You're trembling—" He didn't get to finish as I interrupted him.

"Don't come near me!" I shouted, causing him to step back.

"Okay... But can you put down the knife?" I took a deep breath and returned the knife to my pocket. I shot him a glare but saw no reaction from him. There was only one thing left to do to ensure the Duke didn't know anything about me—he seemed too aware.

I approached him again and leaned closer. Just a little more distance and I could kiss him. But his expression remained unchanged.

"What do you think you're doing?" he asked, prompting me to quickly step back and bow my head.

"I'm sorry, Your Grace; it was my fault. From now on, I'll be more careful."

"You may go now," he said, and I left. Maybe I was wrong about him after all.

Duke Felix's Point of ViewI pressed my hand against my chest; my heart was racing. I leaned against the door and sat down, feeling the intensity of my heartbeat.

"What are you doing, Henny? I'm grateful that I've managed to keep myself in check around her." I rubbed my face in frustration; it was a relief that I maintained my composure with her.

"Maybe I'll tell you at the right time." My face flushed as I recalled how close she had gotten to me.

"Do you know how lovely you are, Henny?" I smiled because I couldn't hide the joy swelling within me.

Duke Felix's Point of View (Continued)All the guests from various empires had arrived for my wedding with Peneloppe. I stood there waiting for her arrival.

I noticed her smiling at me while I remained focused on her. As she approached the altar with my assistance, I caught sight of Henny standing off to the side. My gaze shifted back to Peneloppe as she smiled at me.

I couldn't hear what the priest was saying; all I could do was stare at Henny.

"You may now kiss your bride." Hesitation washed over me until Peneloppe suddenly kissed me.

"You're so handsome, Felix," she said as she embraced me. My eyes darted back toward Henny, but she was gone. It took us several hours to return to the mansion after our wedding ceremony with Peneloppe.

Now it was time for our first night together, and I was sure Peneloppe was waiting for me there. After changing clothes, I asked some maids where Henny was.

"Henny? I've heard she's sick and is locked in her room right now—" Without hesitation, I rushed toward her room. When I opened the door, she was lying on her bed. I approached her and felt her forehead; she was burning up with fever.

"Henny, you have a fever?" She opened her eyes slightly.

"It will go away by tomorrow," she murmured weakly.

"This isn't an ordinary fever; we need to do something about it," I insisted.

"Get a basin of water and a cloth; put it on my forehead," she said softly, clearly feeling weak. I hurriedly fetched a cloth and basin filled with water.

I placed the cloth on her forehead and sat beside her.

"Just tell me what you need," I offered gently.

"Aren't you supposed to be working? You should go back before they scold you because of me."

"Don't worry; I've already informed them." I took the cloth from her forehead and soaked it again to absorb some of her heat.

"I'm feeling cold," she said quietly.

"I have a way to help you warm up. I'll hug you so we can share body heat." My cheeks flushed with embarrassment as I said this.

"Okay." Her short reply made my heart leap with joy. She shifted closer, and I lay down beside her, wrapping my arms around Henny.

"I will take care of you, Henny," I whispered softly.

"What did you say?" she asked sleepily.

"You're so warm." Holding her close filled me with love and warmth. Please don't hear how loudly my heart is beating right now, Henny.
