Chapter 200: Enjoy It While It Last
Not long after, the sound from the kitchen hastily stopped. Gray lazily turned his head just in time to see Mara and Selina walking toward him, each carrying something in their hands.
Mara had a steaming plate of pasta in one hand and a small basket of garlic bread in the other. Selina was holding a tray with slices of cookies. They were still warm from the oven.
On the other hand, Lily was carrying a small pitcher of iced tea.
"We're done! Lunch is served," Mara announced enthusiastically as she placed the plate right on the dining table.
Gray stood up and raised his brow. When Mara saw it, she adjusted the placement of the plate so that the pasta would face him perfectly.
Selina followed right after, setting down the dessert on the table.
"Be careful, it's still warm," she said, smiling.
"And this juice is what I made, brother!" Lily proudly exclaimed as she showed off the pitcher in her hand. She was showing it off as if it were the hardest thing to make among the other dishes.
"Thanks, Lily." Gray chuckled. However, when he faced the two women, he blinked at them, his mouth twitching into a playful smile.
"And you two, what's this? You also offer table service now?"
"Shut up and eat, stupid," Mara muttered, but there was no bite in her voice. She just sat down at the table and casually broke off a piece of garlic bread for herself.
On the other hand, Selina, instead of taking a seat, poured him a glass of iced tea.
"Do you want more?"
Gray just raised an eyebrow. "I'm getting free service too."
She just chuckled and smiled.
"Just answer the question."
"Sure."
Gray leaned back slightly, letting them fuss over him. He barely had to move. Mara was already pushing the bread basket closer to him, and Selina was making sure his drink was within easy reach.
When he finally picked up his fork, Mara gave him a look as if she was silently asking if the food was good.
He took one bite, and his eyes widened a little. He was genuinely surprised when the flavors exploded in his mouth.
"Damn… This is actually good."
"Actually?" Mara's eyebrow shot up.
"Yeah, this is really good," Gray muttered quickly, holding up his hand to show a thumbs-up.
"Five stars. Would recommend."
Selina laughed at it as she slid the cookie plate a little closer to him, "Save room for dessert."
"At this point, I feel like a king." Gray chuckled, shaking his head
"Oh? A king, huh? Then I guess the king shouldn't have to feed himself." Mara smirked.
Before Gray could even react, she twirled some pasta with her fork and leaned forward. "Say 'ah'."
Gray stared at her like she had just suggested the dumbest thing in the world.
"You're joking."
Mara narrowed her eyes.
"Do I look like I'm joking?"
From the side, Selina was grinning like she'd been waiting for this moment her whole life.
"Come on, Gray. Don't make the lady wait."
Gray groaned, leaning his head back.
"I can feed myself, you know."
"We know," Mara said simply, "but we're not letting you."
And just like that, she held the fork closer until it was practically against his lips. With a defeated sigh, Gray opened his mouth and let her feed him.
"Good boy," Mara teased, smirking as she pulled the fork away.
Selina, clearly not wanting to be left out, grabbed a piece of garlic bread and held it up for him next.
"Here. Eat this too/"
Gray looked between the two of them, then laughed under his breath.
"You two are unbelievable."
"Unbelievably nice, you mean," Selina said, grinning.
The absurdity of the whole thing started sinking in. Not only was he being cooked for, but now he was being hand-fed like some spoiled prince.
And honestly… he wasn't hating it.
"Careful," Gray jokingly said to them as he chewed his food slowly. "If you keep this up, I might actually expect this treatment every day."
Mara rolled her eyes. "Dream on." But even as she said it, she was already twirling up another bite of pasta for him.
Selina poured him more iced tea without him even asking, the cold glass placed right in his hand. "Drink," she instructed, like he had no choice in the matter.
Gray smirked.
"What is this, you two get along with each other now?"
"Of course," Selina replied with a wink.
Gray could only shake his head again.
Everything felt normal. Mara fed him pasta, and Selina alternated between feeding him bread and making him iced tea. On the other hand, Lily was just laughing, not finding anything wrong with it.
In Lily's mind, it was like they were just playing. She even asked Mara or Selina to feed her, too, from time to time.
At one point, Mara moved to give him another bite, but Selina quickly slid the cookie plate forward.
"Hold on. Dessert break."
"It's too early for dessert," Mara argued.
"Not when the cookie's this fresh," Selina shot back, cutting a forkful and holding it out toward Gray before Mara could protest further.
"Here. Taste it."
Gray obediently took the bite, and the rich, warm sweetness hit his tongue. His eyebrows shot up in surprise.
"Wow… That's—"
"Good, right?" Selina interrupted, looking way too smug.
Mara sighed dramatically.
"Fine. I'll admit. It's good. But he's not done with lunch yet."
Gray laughed, holding up his hands.
"Ladies, ladies. There's enough of me to go around."
They both gave him matching flat looks, then turned back to the food as if silently agreeing that it was time for them to eat too.
"Finally…" Gray could finally eat on his own.
That was when he realized he was already halfway through the pasta.
The more he thought about it, the funnier it became.
"You know," he said, leaning back with a smirk, "if anyone walked in right now, they'd think I was some kind of royalty."
"Only for today," Mara muttered.
"Consider it a limited-time offer." Selina nodded in agreement.
"Mm," Gray hummed, glancing at the cookie, the pasta, the bread, the iced tea… and the two of them.
"Well… if this is a one-day thing, I'd better enjoy it while it lasts."
