Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 1083: Commanding Behind Enemy Lines

On the densely wooded mountainside, the coalition forces had a dispersed formation, with a ten-meter gap between individuals in all directions. This allowed for ample maneuvering space, so even if a grenade was accurately thrown, it could at most kill one person without hurting others. The scattered formation meant occupying a large space, combined with strong individual capabilities, they engaged in an orderly manner, with fifty or sixty men evenly matched against nearly a thousand on the hilltop.

Luo Zheng observed for a while and got a sense of the situation. In this stance, apart from continuing to hold out and consume the enemy, the coalition forces had no better way to extract themselves or attack. When the gunfire on the hilltop ceased, the coalition forces lost their target and could only hide behind the trees to recover their strength, not daring to retreat and expose themselves easily.

"Deploy an elite team to maneuver from the back mountain to the rear of the coalition forces, and be quick," Luo Zheng said calmly.

"Understood," Lan Xue immediately replied, conveying the situation to Hook, who excitedly expressed his willingness to personally lead. Lan Xue thought for a moment and said, "Prepare the team, I'll accompany you for easier communication."

Knowing Lan Xue wore earpieces allowing constant contact with Luo Zheng, Hook didn't refuse and instead looked around with difficulty, whispering, "What about here?"

"Leave it to me," Luo Zheng's voice echoed in the earpiece.

Lan Xue relayed Luo Zheng's intentions to Hook. Once Hook heard Luo Zheng would personally command, he felt at ease and quietly crawled backward, with Lan Xue close behind. The two headed straight to the hilltop, to the cave, where they took the well-prepared reserve team. Before leaving, Lan Xue glanced at her five injured comrades, and then at the activation device. The five nodded understandingly, allowing Lan Xue to breathe a sigh of relief before turning to catch up.

"Everyone, don't shoot, be patient," Luo Zheng said in a low voice, his cold gaze fixed on the ambushed coalition forces ahead, dispelling any thoughts of shooting. He concealed himself behind the coalition forces, observing them. As long as the coalition forces didn't move, Luo Zheng was also willing to stay put, allowing his people some rest while providing more time for Lan Xue and others to flank and encircle. Should the coalition forces make a move, their position would be clear, allowing him to act accordingly.

After about three minutes, Luo Zheng still didn't order anyone to shoot. A suppressive atmosphere loomed over the battlefield, the coalition forces were struggling to endure. On the battlefield, gunfire and bullets meant little to veterans, but with the enemy side silent, uncertainty prevailed. This invisible pressure made their imaginations run wild, even generating various negative emotions, shaking their morale.

Five minutes later, the coalition forces began a counterattack. A few people deliberately advanced ten meters, hiding behind trees, and fired at suspicious positions. Yet, the opposition's position remained silent. Without Luo Zheng's orders, Zhou Gang and others controlled their teams, preventing anyone from shooting, each hidden quietly behind cover.

Upon seeing this, the coalition forces didn't get excited; instead, they grew more cautious. More people advanced another dozen meters, yet the position on the mountainside remained motionless. Watching the coalition forces entering the trap zone, Luo Zheng privately smirked, signaling Mountain Eagle and Ghost Hand behind him to remain calm, still not issuing an attack command.

After a while, more people advanced several dozen meters, just one hundred and fifty meters from the first line of defense. The team hid within the defense line, unaware of the situation below and without anyone peering to observe. Everyone was intimidated by the coalition forces' precise shooting.

Luo Zheng calmly watched the cautious advance of the coalition forces, occasionally avoiding the traps underfoot. Occasionally, someone would squat down to dismantle the traps, but most opted to ignore them. Luo Zheng still didn't issue an attack command, instead lowering his voice to ask, "Xue Er, how long will it take for you to arrive?"

"Expected within half an hour," Lan Xue promptly replied.

Maneuvering from the back mountain to the front mountain took a while. Half an hour was considered quick. Luo Zheng had no better solution, his cold gaze continued locking onto the cautiously advancing coalition forces. Already at the hundred-meter line, traps abounded further on. The distance was dangerously close, yet Luo Zheng felt no fear.

The coalition forces indeed possessed strong single soldier combat power, but their small numbers made maintaining distance the best choice. Such close combat might not end well, so he wasn't panicked and continued waiting, noticing them stalling at the hundred-meter line.

With the coalition forces immobile, Luo Zheng was even less inclined to act, lowering his voice to say, "The coalition has advanced to within a hundred meters of the first defense line. Everyone continue to conceal themselves; it's unwise to act rashly. I want to see what they're planning. Listen to my command before firing, pacify the team, and prepare for battle."

"Yes," Zhou Gang and others' voices sounded in the earpiece.

Luo Zheng continued calmly observing the enemy situation, patiently waiting. After a few minutes, Luo Zheng noticed someone quietly advancing further, rather than launching a total attack, his expression darkened, and he spoke in a low voice, "One o'clock direction, five enemies, eighty meters away, who's closest?"

"Me," Wu Yuan replied softly.

"Organize fifty men for a firepower cover, maintain direction, sixty meters distance, shoot and then hide instantly, kill!" Luo Zheng coldly commanded, unleashing an invisible killing intent. Fortunately, the distance to the coalition forces was considerable, avoiding detection.

"Rat-tat-tat!" Suddenly, within a section of the first line of defense, fifty individuals emerged from cover, fiercely shooting at the target. Not aiming precisely, the dense firepower adjusted angles while showering the five exposed targets. Having practiced volley fire before, everyone shot a magazine then promptly hid.

The coalition forces were not amateurs; spotting the emergence, they immediately fired, managing casualties among those slow to hide. Ultimately lacking professional training, executing orders alone was commendable. Luo Zheng observed his men promptly hiding after firing with minimal sacrifices. On the ground lay five bodies, and he coldly smirked.

Under the dense fire of fifty, the unexpected assault left the coalition forces attempting infiltration no room to retaliate, knocking them down. Someone triggered a button bomb on the ground, toppling two agile individuals evading bullets, struck by stray bullets.

"Well done," Luo Zheng whispered, "Brothers, inform everyone of the tactical essentials, ensure precise fire coverage, lethal firing, quick hiding, and accurate direction is imperative. Earlier, several were unaware of the shooting direction. Continue fighting like this, follow my command closely."

"Yes," Zhou Gang and others replied enthusiastically, morale high, and went to explain tactics to their nearby officers.

Despite language barriers, everyone drew illustrations, teaching direction determination based on the clock, using gestures. No one was foolish, nodding in comprehension, trusting Zhou Gang and the others implicitly.
