Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 1065: Attack on the Back Mountain

Just when everyone was cheering, the Alliance Army launched an attack.

Luo Zheng coldly watched the fully armed, well-equipped team approaching from the foot of the mountain. The distance was considerable, the trees were dense, and their running speed was too fast to clearly see their true appearance. Hook hurried over with a few people, looked grimly at the foot of the mountain, and asked eagerly, "How do we fight?"

"Don't rush. This is a probing attack by the enemy. Let's decide after we determine their exact numbers," Luo Zheng said calmly.

Perhaps Hook was influenced by Luo Zheng's calmness. He took a deep breath, said something to the people behind him, and everyone settled down. Luo Zheng continued to observe the attacking enemy at the foot, noticing only about ten of them, spread very widely. This small force intends to attack the hilltop? Luo Zheng was startled and instinctively glanced around but found nothing unusual. His face turned serious as he quickly spoke through the earpiece, "Zhou Gang, Liu Xun, Zhang Bin, Wu Yuan, Meng Zhu, stay alert. The enemy might be encircling us. Report any findings immediately."

"Understood." Everyone called out quickly responded.

Luo Zheng saw Ghost Hand and Mountain Eagle running up and gestured for them not to hurry. His sharp eyes continued to lock onto the foot of the mountain and discovered the enemy's speed seemed artificially controlled. It looked fast, but the actual advancement wasn't far. Luo Zheng sensed something and sneered. This trick should be exposed. He indicated to everyone not to rush and said to Ghost Hand and Mountain Eagle, "The enemy's frontal attack is a feint, and it's possible the sides are also feints. The real attack is from behind. You two go to the rear hill and take charge, I'll stay here."

"Yes." The two agreed unanimously.

"What is that?" Hook suddenly looked up at the sky and said.

Luo Zheng was startled and looked up to see a bird flying in the sky, suspiciously looking at Hook. Hook quickly said, "Since our arrival, all the birds here have flown away. As long as we're here, they can't come back. My eyesight is better than ordinary people, and that bird doesn't look like a bird."

"Doesn't look like a bird?" Luo Zheng was surprised, quickly raised the sniper scope to observe, and found it indeed wasn't a bird but a man-made device resembling a bird. He sneered, saying, "It's a flying monitor, a device called a Hummingbird, capable of observing our defenses from above, similar to a satellite."

"Then doesn't that mean they can grasp all our situations?" Hook said worriedly.

"Not necessarily. Our troops are partly resting in the caves, partly preparing, and some are ambushing in the surrounding woods. The dense foliage here makes it hard to see the ground situation even from high above. As long as our ambush is good, they can't figure out our specific deployment. However, it seems they know your tribe's situation, which suggests your secrecy work wasn't thorough." Luo Zheng laughed.

"Those damn special agents are all-pervasive; absolute secrecy is impossible," Hook said helplessly.

"Exactly, even my country can't achieve absolute secrecy. You're like a local lord dominating this primeval forest. They certainly want to ascertain your real strength and political inclinations, even trying to win you over." Luo Zheng laughed, aiming at the flying Hummingbird but couldn't target it due to its fast flight.

"Just tell me how to fight this battle," Hook said worriedly.

"See the Hummingbird above?" Luo Zheng pointed to the Hummingbird in the sky, "The enemy has dispatched a small force to test us and sent the Hummingbird to inspect our response methods. As long as we stay steady and don't easily deploy our troops, they'll be unclear of our deployment, and their probing attack will soon be retracted. We'll talk again tonight. There might be a fierce battle tonight."

"Tonight? Then let it come. We're least afraid of night combat," Hook said nonchalantly.

"But they have Night Vision Devices, and you don't," Luo Zheng said, suddenly remembering the exceptional night vision of Hook Tribe members, who could see in dim light. He wondered if the enemy knew about their enhanced night vision and thought it might be an advantage.

"Just tell us how to fight, and we'll follow you," Hook replied firmly.

At that moment, intensive gunfire suddenly came from the rear hill. Luo Zheng was shocked and was about to inquire when Ghost Hand's voice came through the earpiece, "About fifty people are attacking from the rear hill, determined to settle the fight in one go. We're having trouble holding them back."

"Don't panic! Hold the line. Xue Er, send in the reserves." Luo Zheng decisively ordered. The enemy sent out fifty attackers on the rear hill. While it looked like a quarter of the enemy's total force, Luo Zheng assumed the rear hill was their main attack front, requiring a dominant force advantage to suppress the enemy.

Lan Xue responded and led the reserves forward.

"Isn't it too early to use the reserves?" Hook said worriedly.

"It's not too early," Luo Zheng said calmly, eyes gleaming. Seeing Hook's lack of understanding, he explained, "They are temporarily allied, lacking trust. If we concentrate our force to counterattack, those attackers will surely call for help. If the others don't assist, what will those ambushers think?"

"They will retreat to preserve their strength," Hook replied without hesitation.

"Yes, I want to divide and conquer. If the Allies don't support, we'll eliminate these fifty men. If the Allies attack from the other three directions simultaneously, with their strength, deploying fifty men per direction is feasible. They could breach our lines. If they dare, we'll concentrate all our forces to break through the rear hill, swallowing the ambushing party with our combined strength." Luo Zheng said murderously, eyes flashing.

"Makes sense, as long as we take down the rear hill unit, we'll break out, and internal conflicts will unravel their alliance," Hook realized, admiring Luo Zheng's ability to grasp enemy situations and identify flaws in their tactics.

Several minutes later, the rear hill battle intensified. Luo Zheng knew through the earpiece everyone was staying the enemy's advance. Though there were casualties, the enemy didn't gain much advantage, and the battle entered a stalemate. Now it was a test of endurance.

Luo Zheng didn't redeploy troops to support but watched coldly below, noticing the earlier attacking squad retreating swiftly, sparking his vigilance. What was the Alliance's plan? Withdrawing now meant they couldn't deter our manpower effectively.
