Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 1053: Fierce Battle in the Cave

Close-range gunfights test a person's resolve the most. Luo Zheng and his team were fighting for the mission, for survival, putting everything on the line, while the Bloodsucker members outside hadn't figured out what was happening. They only received orders through radios to block the exits due to an ambush, without mentally preparing for a tough fight. But being the world's fourth-ranked mercenary Bloodsucker, they were enraged seeing Luo Zheng and his companions charging out so fiercely.

"Whoosh!" A grenade was thrown in from outside, tracing a sinister arc of death through the air.

Luo Zheng just happened to see the spherical object and immediately realized something. At the critical moment, he kicked off the ground hard, his body shooting out like a cannonball at an incredible speed. He used one hand to smack the grenade back out like a basketball and shouted, "Get down."

"Boom!" The moment he spoke, the grenade exploded with a deafening roar. Ghost Hand, at the front, felt someone tackle him to the ground, but the explosion's shockwave was so fierce, he didn't dare raise his head, pressing himself tightly against the ground. After the explosion, Ghost Hand rolled over to see it was Cheng He, his back a bloody mess, clothes singed, with two shrapnel pieces embedded in his back, bleeding profusely.

"Cheng He?!" Ghost Hand gasped in shock, roaring.

"Charge out, kill!" Luo Zheng also saw this, but there was no time to hesitate. He kicked off hard, charging forward. The people ahead, blown askew by the grenade, were either dead or heavily injured, and Luo Zheng rushed up to finish them off. Mountain Eagle led his men forward as well.

In a narrow path, the brave win. Time equates to life; everyone charged and fought fiercely, ignoring the bullets flying their way. Being surrounded meant certain doom. To survive, they had to gamble.

Running, Luo Zheng swapped the magazine in his pistol, charging and firing wildly. He reached outside in one breath, saw someone aiming a gun to shoot, and dove at him. Midair, his pistol rang out, executing a headshot on the enemy. Upon landing, Luo Zheng continued pinpoint shooting at visible targets. He felt bullets hitting his body, paining him sharply, but he gritted his teeth and persisted, emptying the magazine.

By then, Mountain Eagle and the others had also rushed out, clearing the enemies outside the cave entrance. Luo Zheng, enduring the pain, got up and saw many people ascending the mountainside. His expression turned grave as he shouted, "Heavy machine gun, mow those bastards down hard. Zhou Gang, get some help, bring in a heavy machine gun to support and seal the retreat."

"Roger." They all shouted, morale soaring. The battle had reached a point where there was no time for thinking, nor was it needed. They just followed orders.

The heavy machine gun soon roared to life, sweeping down the mountainside like rain. Zhou Gang summoned a brother to help, lifted the heavy machine gun, and ran, joined by someone carrying the gun belt. Luo Zheng saw Ghost Hand coming, carrying the unconscious Cheng He. With a grim face, he asked, "How is he?"

"Barely breathing, I must save him." Ghost Hand replied seriously, his face stern.

"Alright, you have five minutes for first aid. We'll break through in five minutes." Luo Zheng nodded decisively. Cheng He got injured saving Ghost Hand, something Luo Zheng hadn't anticipated. But staying at the entrance was too dangerous; they needed to break through quickly. Five minutes was the limit.

Ghost Hand understood this too, quickly laying Cheng He down and taking out a first aid kit for basic treatment. Luo Zheng, with a cold gaze, looked into the cave. Lan Xue was retreating while fighting with her team, the situation critically urgent. Fortunately, the heavy machine gun's sudden fire eased their pressure.

Only three heavy machine guns were at the entrance. Two fiercely swept over the mountainside, roaring like angry tigers with everyone's killing intent. The other covered the rear inside the cave, looking fierce but with limited ammo. Luo Zheng wasn't sure how long it could hold out, anxiously watching Ghost Hand.

Lan Xue rushed up, relieved that the heavy machine guns temporarily stalled the enemy's advance. The enemy was dangerously close to the entrance, a minute later and they'd be trapped. Thankfully, Luo Zheng was decisive, ordering everyone to charge out regardless of cost. Slight hesitation, and they'd be deadlocked in the cave.

Seeing this, Lan Xue breathed a sigh of relief, her brow furrowed, looking at Ghost Hand. She said to Luo Zheng, "Luckily, we got out. Hook lost three, two wounded. What's next?"

"Hold for five minutes." Luo Zheng looked at Ghost Hand, his face heavy as iron, and shouted coldly to Mountain Eagle, "Mountain Eagle, take some people inside to help, hold them off for five minutes."

"Yes." Mountain Eagle called three people and dashed inside. The fight in the cave's difficult terrain was tough; the Bloodsucker members outside seemed many but couldn't press ahead quickly.

Lan Xue didn't know how Cheng He got injured, but seeing Ghost Hand's complex expression, she knew it wasn't simple, rushing up to help. Luo Zheng, face cold, loaded incendiary bombs and fired, targeting the mountainside. Both sides weren't far apart. With the sniper scope's night vision, Luo Zheng easily spotted targets. Even if they hid behind trees, unseen, he fired anyway.

The incendiary bombs exploded on impact, dousing targets with flammable agent, turning them into human torches. The glow exposed more enemies to gunfire, guiding the heavy machine guns' aim. Even hitting trees, they'd explode, illuminating the area.

Other snipers followed suit, launching incendiary bombs at suspicious spots, guiding sweeps from the heavy machine guns, creating a formidable offense that kept Bloodsucker at bay, forcing them to retreat. Inside the cave, the Bloodsucker members counterattacked fiercely. If not for the heavy machine gun's suppressive fire, and Hook's men fighting madly, they'd have breached the lines.

Gunfire erupted from the mountaintop — evidently, Bloodsuckers stationed there were joining the fight, escalating the situation. Luo Zheng glanced at Ghost Hand, saw the shrapnel removed, bleeding halted and bandaged, and sighed in relief, roaring, "Heavy machine guns in front, everyone follow me, we'll break through head-on!"

"Kill." Everyone, eyes red with fury, filled with battle lust, roared earth-shatteringly, charging down the mountainside. With Bloodsuckers on both sides, flanking meant ambush from above and below. But the enemies on the mountainside were diminished by the assaults, making a frontal charge the best option.

Ghost Hand carried Cheng He down too. Luo Zheng grabbed Lan Xue, saying, "Cheng He got hurt saving Ghost Hand. You lead the charge, protect them. I'll cover the rear."

"Be careful." Lan Xue agreed, chasing after them.
