Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 1040: Mysterious Team

With a command, everyone immediately dove into action, finding places to hide and conducting weapon checks before the fight. Silent as predators waiting for the right moment, they exuded a faint aura of murder. The sound of bullets being loaded echoed in the dark woods, especially eerie in the silent night sky.

Quickly, news came from the front: the identities of the approaching people were unclear, but they appeared tall, strong, and robust. Unlike the diverse Bloodsucker personnel, these figures might be a special forces unit from a country or mercenaries, but definitely not assassins, as assassins don't possess that soldier-like, iron-blooded aura.

Luo Zheng's expression turned solemn upon hearing Mountain Eagle's report. He and Hong Meihua had previously discussed the possibility of other countries joining the battle, not expecting to encounter such a situation so soon. Should they engage or not? Luo Zheng hesitated and looked towards Lan Xue. After a moment of thought, Lan Xue suggested, "Let's see first and send them to clash with Bloodsucker instead."

"Makes sense. Even top-world special forces like Hook's team got thoroughly beaten, so this team probably won't fare much better. Might as well let them take the lead." Luo Zheng thought it over and agreed. He instructed Mountain Eagle to keep watch from a distance without getting too close to avoid exposure.

Mountain Eagle complied. Luo Zheng, his expression serious, eyed Cheng He. If it weren't for him, so much wouldn't have happened, though there's little point blaming him now. Ghost Hand came up quietly, asking, "Hook sent me to ask what happened and if we need anything from them?"

"Tell him the truth; just be prepared for battle for now." Luo Zheng whispered.

Ghost Hand agreed and left. At this moment, Mountain Eagle sent a message, stating the other side was advancing toward Bloodsucker's position. Luo Zheng, upon hearing this, quickly exchanged a knowing glance with Lan Xue, who nodded in understanding. Together, they hurried toward Mountain Eagle's location.

Shortly, they reunited with Mountain Eagle, and following his guidance, they raised their sniper scopes. Indeed, a group was seen passing through the thick woods, moving stealthily like Soul Hooker in the night. Unfortunately, at a distance of five hundred meters, the sniper scope's night vision wasn't capable of clearly seeing that far, showing only a rough outline.

Everyone held their breath patiently, waiting for the group to leave. After they vanished, Luo Zheng, with a solemn expression, whispered, "This group is not ordinary; they emit a self-assured and powerful aura, one that is fierce yet cold, oddly familiar as if I've seen it before."

Different individuals emit different kinds of aura, especially the strong ones. Assassins have a sinister, ruthless aura, while soldiers possess a iron-blooded, rigid aura. Different military units also have varying auras due to their combat styles. Everyone pondered, feeling a sense of familiarity but unable to pinpoint where they'd encountered it.

"Nevermind this for now, what's next?" Lan Xue whispered.

"Let's follow them and wait for the right moment," whispered Luo Zheng, casting a glance at Mountain Eagle, who understood and nodded, leading Zhou Gang and Meng Zhu to quickly pursue the group.

Ghost Hand returned to the base and gathered everyone to follow, occasionally coordinating with Mountain Eagle to confirm the route. At crucial crossroads, Mountain Eagle left Zhou Gang or Meng Zhu to guide the way. After an hour's journey, the mysterious team showed no sign of stopping, and everyone continued trailing them.

Three hours later, as dawn approached, Mountain Eagle reported the mysterious team had stopped to rest ahead. Everyone halted too, and shortly afterward, the sun rose over the horizon, illuminating the land. Luo Zheng signaled for Ghost Hand to stay with the team, while he and Lan Xue hurriedly moved forward.

Soon, the two reunited with Mountain Eagle, lying on a hillside and observing ahead. The team had concealed themselves midway up the mountain. Luo Zheng was curious about this position choice; generally, people rest atop ridges for a better view and easier handling of issues, or hide in valleys where discovery is harder. Valleys offer flat terrain for easier travel — why choose midway up a mountain?

Normally, people traverse ridges or valleys; the midway section is often overlooked since unintended encounters there are rare. Perhaps they don't want to be found? Luo Zheng thought, and his gaze towards the front grew heavier. Considering the keen instincts of these people, he dared not stare directly for long, only fleetingly glancing with partially closed eyes, not daring to linger.

Daytime differs from nighttime with much higher visibility; quick sweeps revealed a peculiar phenomenon: the weapons used were all SUV series, produced by Arctic Bear Country. Widely available on the international market, the SUV favorite among many mercenaries and assassins. Yet, it's rare for an entire team to be equipped with them; could it be sent by Arctic Bear Country?

Upon realizing this, Luo Zheng suddenly recalled the familiar feeling — the aura of these individuals resembled that of Snow Bear Special Forces encountered before, fierce and savage, like bears. Could it be that the Snow Bear Special Forces from Arctic Bear Country had arrived? Luo Zheng's expression drastically changed — encountering Hook before, now facing Snow Bear, the situation grew complex.

Luo Zheng shared a complex look with Lan Xue and Mountain Eagle, both signaling their understanding with nods. Quietly, everyone retreated and quickly regrouped with the main team. Luo Zheng immediately called Ghost Hand aside, where no one else was, to hold a field meeting.

"Did you find anything?" Lan Xue asked, suspicion in her voice.

"I think they might be Snow Bear Special Forces." Luo Zheng replied gravely.

"Snow Bear?" Lan Xue, Ghost Hand, and Mountain Eagle's faces changed drastically. Snow Bear Special Forces are the strongest force of Arctic Bear; during the last World Special Forces Competition, it took a joint effort to eliminate just one member. Despite everyone's improved abilities, Snow Bear's arrival means more than just one member, and this fight won't be easy.

"Snow Bear and Hook have equal strength; let them clash with Bloodsucker first." Lan Xue proposed.

"Alright, we'll watch the situation unfold before taking action." Luo Zheng agreed, quickly opening his earpiece and saying, "Lan Xing, are you there? Secret communication channel."

"Understood." Lan Xing's voice came through the earpiece: "Ready now."

"A strange group encountered, potentially Snow Bear Special Forces," Luo Zheng whispered.

"What?" Hong Meihua's voice reacted in surprise through the earpiece: "Couldn't believe it after discussing last night, and now they've appeared. What do you need from us?"

"Keep an eye on their every move for me," urged Luo Zheng.

"No worries, will alert you of any developments immediately." Lan Xing assured.

"Good." Luo Zheng acknowledged, getting up and saying, "Gather the team; let's see how strong this Snow Bear Special Forces group is, whether they can compare with Hook. Let's follow them — Mountain Eagle, lead the way."

"Yes." Everyone responded, their fighting spirit ablaze.
