Strongest Soldier King

Chapter 1037: Rescuing a Formidable Foe

"Whoosh!" The sniper bullet whistled away with deadly intent.

The sudden sound of the sniper rifle shot startled all the Bloodsucker members, who immediately dove to the ground, rolling to find cover. The three members of the Pot Lid Head Special Warfare Group were also taken aback. One of them saw the Bloodsucker he was fighting have his head blown apart by the sniper bullet, his body sent flying some distance away. He quickly regained his composure, swiftly slashing another stunned Bloodsucker member, then kicked another, sending him flying. He dragged two of his teammates down to the ground.

Luo Zheng was surprised by how quickly the opponents reacted when he saw them through the sniper scope. He realized they could become a major future threat to him. But since he had already acted, he had to commit to the rescue mission for the sake of the task. With a serious expression, he shouted through the earpiece, "Everyone charge forward, take them down, rescue our people."

"Yes." Everyone roared in unison and charged down the mountain like unleashed tigers, holding their sniper rifles at shoulder height. They fired at targets as they moved, not worrying about hitting the mark but rather intimidating the enemy and preventing them from firing back.

Luo Zheng stayed behind, positioned by a tree, calmly observing the canyon ahead. He soon spotted a target attempting to shoot at the three Pot Lid Heads. Luo Zheng swiftly aimed and decisively squeezed the trigger. The bullet made a shrill whistling sound as it burrowed into the target's waist, creating a large splash of blood.

The target's body exploded with a gaping wound, sending him flying backward, lifeless. His gun was flung away, landing near one of the Pot Lid Special Warfare Group members. This person quickly crawled forward with incredible agility, picked up the weapon, rolled to his feet, and knelt down to aim at the Bloodsucker ahead, coldly pulling the trigger like a merciless fighting machine, disregarding any tactical evasions.

Luo Zheng realized these three survivors had deemed themselves dead; their hearts filled with rage, yearning for revenge at any opportunity. Would someone who considered themselves dead care about living? In an instant, three Bloodsucker members were taken down.

When the Bloodsucker members noticed an attack from behind, they immediately turned their guns around. Before they could fire, Mountain Eagle and others charged down, fiercely attacking. They used their sniper rifles like assault rifles, especially Ghost Hand's Type 95 assault rifle, spraying bullets that forced the dozen or so survivors into evasive maneuvers, unable to retaliate.

The surviving dozen Bloodsucker members were dumbfounded by Luo Zheng and his team's assault. At this point, the other two Pot Lid Heads also found weapons to fight back. Surrounded and under fire, the Bloodsuckers could not defend themselves. Hook led his men in a charge, unleashing relentless gunfire that left the Bloodsuckers cowering, unable to counterattack. Mountain Eagle led his team in a charge, precisely eliminating Bloodsucker members, and the battle quickly came to an end.

Seeing the battle was over, Luo Zheng swiftly descended from the tree and ran toward the battlefield. Speaking into the earpiece, he said, "The fight is over; we've rescued three. Notify Sam Country. We've done our best; if they had spoken sooner, maybe we could have saved more."

"Haha, understood," Hong Meihua replied with a laugh.

On the battlefield, the three Pot Lid Special Warfare Group members warily watched Lan Xue and Ghost Hand as they approached. Mountain Eagle and his team were cleaning up the battlefield, picking up weapons from the ground and finishing off bodies to ensure no fakers remained. There was no hostility, no killing intent. The three Pot Lid Special Warfare Group members knew it was these people who had saved them. Exchanging glances, they lowered their guns as a gesture of goodwill.

"Which one of you is the leader?" Lan Xue asked as she approached.

"I'm Captain Jackson," a burly man stepped forward, astonished to see that such a formidable team was led by a woman.

"Contact your father; it was his request to rescue you," Lan Xue said calmly.

Captain Jackson's expression changed slightly. He took a military satellite phone from his backpack, stepped back a few steps, and dialed a number. Lan Xue paid no further attention to the three Pot Lid Special Warfare Group members and turned to instruct Hook to help clean up the battlefield. Ghost Hand stayed vigilant, watching the three just in case. The team had fought together for years and shared a mutual understanding of what needed to be done under certain circumstances.

Shortly after, Luo Zheng arrived hurriedly and joined Lan Xue. After a brief explanation of the situation, Luo Zheng was not eager to speak with Jackson. He signaled everyone to quickly clean up the battlefield and prepare to retreat. Just then, Jackson, having finished his call, approached without any weapons, solemnly saluted Lan Xue, and said, "Forgive my impertinence, are you Captain Lan Xue? Which one of you is Ghost?"

"You seem to have investigated us thoroughly," Lan Xue smiled, looking at Luo Zheng.

Luo Zheng took a step forward and replied calmly, "We are both soldiers; let's skip the sentimental words. Who knows, we might end up meeting on the battlefield one day."

"You're right; our positions differ. For our respective countries' interests, meeting on the battlefield is entirely possible. I would like to personally and on behalf of my two brothers thank you for saving us. If possible, please visit my home. I'll buy you drinks and assure your safety with the honor of a soldier," Jackson said sincerely.

"Alright," Luo Zheng agreed nonchalantly. The honor of a soldier is above life itself, making Luo Zheng believe in Jackson's genuine invitation. He continued, "Now go; if you delay any longer, it'll be too late. I certainly don't want to rescue you a second time; it's a hassle."

"I don't wish for a second rescue from you either," Jackson said, looking at the remains of his fallen comrades with a grim face, his eyes filled with fury. He continued, "We must stay with our brothers' remains and await support. Thank you for your assistance, but we don't need more help. We know what needs to be done." With that, he collected the scattered weapons and ammunition.

To die rather than abandon a comrade, even if just their remains, these soldiers were worthy of respect and also fearsome. Luo Zheng's expression was complex as he glanced at Jackson. If he were an ally, Luo Zheng would gladly befriend him, but unfortunately, he was from Sam Country and could become an enemy any moment. Such adversaries are daunting.

"Let's go," Lan Xue whispered, tugging on Luo Zheng's sleeve.

Luo Zheng nodded, noticing that the team had finished cleaning the battlefield. He glanced at Jackson once more, feeling that this formidable man might become a major adversary. If he could, Luo Zheng would eliminate him now. Unfortunately, the outside world knew they had saved Jackson. Killing him would mean openly breaking ties with Sam Country. With a complex expression, he issued the retreat order.

Before long, they vanished into the woods. Jackson, with an equally complex expression, watched Luo Zheng's departing figure with a thoughtful gaze, his eyes filled with a fighting spirit.
