"The fact that you went and involved my little boy in this bullshit revenge of yours! That is enough reason for me to end your life! Guards, take him!"

Betsha pointed her hand towards Zod, and all the guards in the room drew their swords and began to advance! Zod narrowed his eyes as he looked over all the guards and then glanced back at the warrior who was blocking the door behind him. It was obvious that there was no way for him to escape from here. And since that was the case, didn't it mean that this was his last stand? General Zod gripped his sword even tighter as the seriousness of the situation finally dawned on him. This was it. He had finally destroyed the last thread of friendship that connected him to Bethsha in any way. So doesn't that mean that there was no need to care about her anymore? Yes, there was no need for that. Bethsha was the one who threw him away first, so why should he care about her? And besides, Bethsha wasn't his real enemy. His real enemy was that bastard Richard Marc. The bastard that came here and took everything that had once belonged to Zod.

'If I can't have her, then I'll kill them all. I'll kill Betsha and Kai, and then I'll find that bastard Richard and kill him too. I'll kill them all!'

A bright light suddenly began to shine out from Zod's chest, and the guards in the room immediately dashed forward as they realised that Zod was about to do something, but they were already too late! An intricate rune that had been carved into Zod's chest suddenly glowed with a bright red light, and Zod drew his sword and turned around sharply to deflect an attack from Jaraht!

Clang!

Zod's sword slammed into Jaraht's gauntlet, and Jaraht narrowed his eyes at Zod as he shifted the weight of the attack to the left and left some space open for a second attack!

BOOM!

This time, the attack slammed into Zod's stomach and threw him back into the far wall, but everyone stopped in their tracks when they heard a mad laughter echoing through the room! The red light on Zod's chest only grew brighter with each second, and Zod ripped his armor and shirt off to reveal the burning red rune that glowed with pure mana! Once she saw it, Bethsha felt shocked! Bethsha knew what runes were since she had learned about them from Richard, but she had never seen such an intricate rune before! This had to be at least a third-grade rune, and she knew that there were no runemasters in this world who could produce such a rune! Where did Zod get something like that!?

"I should have known that she was right all along! You never cared about me! You never even saw me as your friend! I was just a tool to you! A convenient tool that you would throw away whenever you wanted!"

Zod's face had twisted into something furious as he shouted this angrily, and Betsha took a step back when she felt Zod's power suddenly skyrocket! A massive sonic boom echoed through the hall as power flowed out from Zod's body in waves, and Zod's mad laughter echoed through the hall! The rune on Zod's chest was something that he had received from a mysterious benefactor a few weeks ago. The benefactor had given Zod this rune as well as the plan to get rid of Kai once and for all so that Zod could take over as the new husband of Bethsha, but even though the benefactor told Zod to go ahead and kill Kai at first, Zod had decided to just sell Kai instead since he was hesitant to kill a child.

But now, Zod knew that he had been a fool! He should have listened to this benefactor and done what he had to! If he had just listened, then he would have never gotten into this situation in the first place! But it was fine! The rune on Zod's chest was going to give him all the power that he needed to accomplish his mission. This rune was a third-grade rune known as the [Rikard's Covenant]. It was created by a mad runecrafter known as Uria Rikard during his reign of terror as a warrior in the Period of Lawlessness. Rikard was someone who desired power above all else, and he possessed an army of warriors that he knew could not compete against the powerhouses that existed in the Primordial Expanse. So in order to improve the strength of his army, he carved this rune into each of them to grant them great power. Once the rune was activated, it removed the restraints that existed in their minds and bodies and allowed them to unleash a power that was far greater than their potential!

But what Rikard didn't foresee was how this method of gaining power would affect the minds of his soldiers! When the rune was active, the restraints on the body were removed, but the part of the mind that allowed a person to retain their rational thought was also deactivated, and this meant that anyone under the influence of this rune would be turned into a rabid mad animal who only desired to destroy everything in their path! Rikard had unknowingly created the largest army of mad warriors in existence, and by doing so, he plunged his entire Primordial domain into one of the bloodiest decades in history! The rune was eventually outlawed by the Primordial Council of Nine and One, and they stated that anyone caught using it would serve any sentence from imprisonment to execution, depending on the severity of the crime!

Zod didn't know any of these facts about this rune, and the only thing that he knew was that the rune would allow him to reach a peak in his powers that he could have never reached with training alone! And in truth, even if Zod knew what this rune would do to him, Zod would've still used it! Because why should he care about losing his mind! Why should he care about anything anymore!? It was all over anyway! Betsha would never look at him the way he wanted her to, and he could never return to his life as a General in the army! At this moment, Zod had lost everything that defined him as a person, and he decided that if he was going down, then he would take everyone along with him!

"RARRRGGHHH!"

BOOOMMM!

Zod let out a roar as a massive surge of power suddenly erupted from his body! The power slammed into the walls of the hall, and large splinters grew across the structures as the room began to break apart! Betsha and all the other guards were immediately blown back by the shockwave, but Jaraht was able to ignore the shockwave as he dashed forward for a second attack! Jaraht sent a fist towards Zod, but Zod immediately brought his sword forward to deflect the attack, and then he sent out another slash towards Jaraht's neck, and Jaraht had to bring up a sloppy defence to block it! Jaraht was thrown back by the attack, and he flipped in the air and slid back while narrowing his eyes at Zod!

Zod was hunched over like a mindless beast preparing to launch an attack. There was an intense red aura surrounding his body, and his eyes were completely empty of all intelligence! But at the same time, it was obvious that his power had grown far greater than what he once had! Zod had only been an SS-Rank that was about to break into the SSS-Rank, and that was why Jaraht had been able to put up a good fight against him. But now that he used the Covenant Rune, his power had more than doubled, and he finally rose in rank and entered into the middle regions of the SSS-Rank! At this moment, Zod was more than powerful enough to kill every single person in this room!
