Strongest Deliveryman In The Apocalypse

Chapter 33: Clearing Up All Misunderstandings

[A Few Days Later…]

In a vast and sophisticated meeting room, Sobin sat face-to-face with Sharon.

For the first few minutes or so, silence radiated in the room. Both sides had been briefed about the meeting, and they had been through a lot these past few days that had recontextualized their respective perspectives on each other.

As a result, the situation was rather awkward.

"Um… so about Bessie, erm, my truck… have you had any luck tracking her down yet?" Sobin finally broke the silence with a question. His tone was somber and respectful, with his features displaying a clear sign of worry.

Bessie meant a lot to him, and ever since their separation a few days ago, he hadn't stopped worrying about her.

"Ah… yes." Sharon quickly responded with a smile. "We found the truck. Our operatives are bringing it to us as we speak. Although, ah, nevermind…"

She was going to mention how the truck didn't seem to budge despite how hard they pushed, and even towing didn't work. It wasn't until the next day, when they were discussing Sobin that the truck suddenly roared to life on its own.

After that, towing it was a breeze.

It almost felt like the truck was alive, but Sharon had her limits on what she could believe, so she decided not to explore that possibility.

Speaking of unbelievable things, though… she had to accept the one right before her eyes.

"Mr Sobin… it seems my suspicions regarding you and your achievements were simply a misunderstanding on my part." Sharon sighed aloud. "I thought you were a shady character who was trying to spy on us. That's why I ordered for your arrest."

She bowed her head respectfully. "I'm truly sorry, Mr Sobin."

"Ah… it's no problem at all!" Sobin quickly raised his two hands in protest. "You were just doing what you had to do, so I understand. Plus, I sort of didn't act appropriately with you since I didn't realize you were the boss of this place… haha!"

Sharon was stunned by Sobin's kindheartedness and free spirit.

At first, she thought he was simply stupid, or perhaps an idiot. Then, she considered that he was pretending and using this 'go-lucky' persona as a camouflage.

But it turned out to be none of these things.

Sobin was actually just like this: a man who held no grudges and lived life however he pleased.

He took no offense and simply chose the path that seemed best to him.

Sharon couldn't help but admire him in a sense, but she also felt some relief on her end. After all, due to Sobin's personality, it wasn't likely that he would seek revenge on her for what she put him through.

Even at that, Sharon had no intention of taking advantage of someone like Sobin.

She wouldn't dare!

"Please tell me what you'd like as compensation. Of course, you taking down the A Rank Chaos Angel already has its benefits that will be dispensed to you. The compensation I'm referring to is for the inconvenience that came with the bounty we put on you and your arrest."

Whether or not Sobin took offense, Sharon still felt uneasy about the whole thing, so she wanted to repay him for her rash actions.

Back then, she was on edge regarding the possibility of an SS Rank Disaster.

Sobin had just showed up out of nowhere, so could one really blame her for freaking out on him like that? Besides, she had actually just wanted to tail him, but due to Bessie's speed, he vanished from their radar.

This caused her suspicions to rise explosively, forcing her hand to issue a warrant.

But all of that was now in the past.

What she desired now was a way to properly repay Sobin so they could move away from her embarassing mistake.

"W-well…" Sobin itched the back of his head as he spoke awkwardly. He clearly felt unsure about bringing up the matter.

Sharon noticed this, and she leaned forward, urging him to speak with her brilliant smile.

"No, please… tell me."

Sobin sighed.

He didn't know how to put this, especially with his personality, but after getting the green light from Sharon, he decided to speak.

"The thing is… I was unable to complete all those missions I took up for my Re-evaluation. I was just worried that I'm gonna fail it, and I don't want that." Sobin said with a mild frown. "I worked hard on my first and second mission. The third mission was interrupted because of my arrest, and then I lost Bessie, which made it sort of impossible to finish my tasks…"

In a way, it wasn't even Sobin's fault that he couldn't finish all five missions.

If he was left to his own devices, he would have completed all of them within a month, perhaps even in less time. Sobin explained this to Sharon as humbly as he could, but he also displayed enough assertiveness as expected of a professional.

"So, what I'm trying to say is this: I would like to be judged appropriately for the missions I did complete to show my competence."

Sharon smiled and nodded.

Sobin wasn't one to ask for shortcuts.

He was an honest working man, and it showed even in his current request.

He could have told Sharon to simply promote him anyway, but instead he told her to evaluate him based on the work done. This showed his meritocratic mindset, and it once again earned him her respect.

"Don't worry about it, Mr Sobin." Sharon smiled at him. "I actually already took care of it before you arrived here."

Sobin had flown to Zone E-46 using an aircraft, and it took some days before they arrived. It took another day for him to 'rest', and it was only after all this that Sharon met with him.

During this period, Sharon had been hard at work trying to fasttrack his Re-evaluation.

In the history of their entire Sector—and possibly the entire world—this had to be the fastest Re-evaluation.

"Here is your new Rider License. It reflects your current rank and status in the Rider Association" Sharon brought out a card and slid it on the table towards Sobin's direction.

Sobin took only one glance at it before his eyes widened.

They immediately turned bloodshot, nearly popping out of their sockets.

"T-this is… A RANK?!
