Chapter 140: Be Good~
Chapter 140: Be Good~
As a hero, Xiya obviously couldn’t be connected to demons—not at this point in the timeline, at least. He hadn’t pledged allegiance to any higher-dimensional demon yet, making it impossible for him to have ties to their kind.
The notion of being possessed by the "Lord of the Dead"? Just Lynn’s baseless sophistry.
Blessed by the gods, Xiya couldn’t possibly have his mind controlled by a mere Fifth-Rank Legendary Demon.
The intense hatred and killing intent Xiya felt toward Lynn likely stemmed from their identities.
The Witch of the End had once remarked that Lynn was an anomaly, a speck of dust rejected by the world itself. The invisible force of narrative correction was his greatest enemy.
His actions disrupted the destinies of key characters, steering their futures away from the original plotline.
In a sense, as the embodiment of the world’s will, Xiya Asolant naturally harbored intense hatred for Lynn.
After all, the entire novel had been written as Xiya’s personal showcase.
But now, Lynn was stealing the spotlight. The resulting conflict and animosity were inevitable.Perhaps this was why Lynn’s system had always failed to display Xiya’s personal profile.
The moment Lynn stepped out of the teleportation array, he had sensed Xiya’s presence.
Since their conflict was irreconcilable, why not strike first?
“Kill him.”
The casual tone of Yveste’s command left everyone stunned.
What? Kill an imperial war hero on the spot because of a single sentence?
Even for the Third Princess, this was an outrageous joke—though her subordinates knew better. Yveste never joked about orders.
The moment she spoke, three figures immediately lunged forward.
Morris used flowing shadows to seal Xiya’s movements, Afia’s hands—strengthened by the Power of Abundance—were wreathed in natural magic, and Rhine unleashed a gravity field that cracked the ground beneath their feet.
Three Third-Rank combatants.
To kill them? Xiya would only need one blow.
Anger burned faintly within Xiya.
Even a mudman had limits.
And everything today was because of this black-haired, blue-eyed lunatic stirring trouble.
All because of a single look, they wanted to kill him here?
Are you people insane?!
Not just Lynn, but this Third Princess too—they were maniacs of the highest order.
Xiya considered himself a reasonable person and couldn’t comprehend their twisted logic.
Still, as a follower of war, his nature was steeped in bloodlust and battle.
“Boom—”
Intense heat surged across the teleportation site as Xiya, standing calmly, raised his right hand and clenched the air.
An orange-red flaming lance materialized in his grasp, brimming with explosive power capable of leveling anything in sight with a single throw.
But in his fury, Xiya overlooked something crucial.
There was another monster present.
A true monster.
The instant Yveste’s languid gaze fell on him, Xiya felt as though a mountain had crushed him.
An overwhelming force exceeded his body’s limits, making every cell in his being scream in agony.
The fiery lance in his hand shattered, and he collapsed to one knee, his face flushed red and utterly immobilized.
As the three Third-Rank fighters closed in, for the first time, Xiya felt utterly powerless—like a lamb awaiting slaughter.
Just one strike could’ve wiped out those three fools, yet now he was being utterly subdued.
This... was the power of a Sixth-Rank Demigod.
Grinding his teeth, Xiya clenched his fists tightly. His blood boiled with rage as he glanced toward the source of all this madness.
There she was, flirting with the black-haired boy beside her, completely ignoring him.
D**n it!
As Afia’s clawed hand closed in on his throat, Xiya growled, ready to unleash his last-ditch trump card.
“Xiya!”
A desperate cry came from behind him.
The voice belonged to Tiya, the Silent Church’s Saintess. The elven girl’s icy gaze locked onto Lynn and the others.
Without hesitation, she raised her staff, its moonlit glow intensifying as tension reached its peak.
The confrontation teetered on the edge of chaos.
At that moment, the sharp click of high heels echoed through the air. Shirina strode forward and stepped in front of Xiya, clearly done with her younger sister’s antics.
Her pale, slender wrist bore a copper bell. She reached out a finger and flicked it lightly.
“Ding—”
The crisp chime reverberated, releasing a wave of law that swept over the teleportation site.
All Extraordinary abilities were nullified!
Instantly, everyone—including Morris—felt their powers erased, their skills dissipating into thin air. They stopped in shock.
Lynn sighed internally.
So, killing the protagonist here really wasn’t an option.
Not that he’d expected otherwise.
What surprised him, though, was that Shirina had stepped in to mediate.
It seemed her favorability toward Xiya was already quite high.
Shirina stood coldly in front of Xiya, her presence silencing the area.
The once-gentle and compassionate aura of the princess had transformed into something sharp and unyielding.
“Yveste, you’ve gone too far,” she said softly.
As Xiya’s superior, she couldn’t stand by and watch her subordinate be killed.
She’s bullying me again...
Yveste’s pitiful gaze landed on Lynn, causing cold sweat to break out on his back.
Come on, don’t look at me. I can’t fight her!
Lynn quickly averted his gaze, pretending to be invisible.
Yveste didn’t expect Lynn to confront her elder sister on her behalf. Seeing his noncommittal demeanor, she found it amusing but refrained from showing it. Instead, her expression turned neutral as she redirected her gaze.
“He’s a demon,” Yveste stated flatly, as though her words were an indisputable fact. “Shirina, are you planning to shield a demon?”
Even when facing her eldest sister, Yveste remained calm. She twirled a strand of her silky black hair around her finger, speaking in a leisurely tone.
“You know very well whether he’s a demon or not.”
Shirina remained silent for a moment before speaking softly. “I understand your point.”
In truth, when Lynn had begun questioning Xiya earlier, Shirina had already grasped his intentions.
As the First Princess, she was among the few privy to the details of the Orne City incident. If this matter were to be thoroughly investigated, Xiya might very well end up in the Inquisitorium for interrogation.
She was aware that her subordinate held several secrets. If those were exposed, it would ultimately harm her own standing.
With a soft sigh, Shirina relented. “I swear on my honor that nothing from today will reach the outside world.
“In exchange, drop this matter here and now.”
In other words, Yveste’s earlier declaration that Lynn was her future consort would be considered a mere outburst. Both sides would back down and move on.
Yveste didn’t agree immediately. Instead, she glanced up at Lynn. “What do you think?”
“Fine,” Lynn considered for a moment before taking the olive branch. “Let’s just treat everything that happened as a small misunderstanding.”
Hearing this, Yveste nodded slightly. “Alright, let’s do that.”
Shirina gave Lynn a long, meaningful look. She hadn’t expected this young man to hold such a significant position in her sister’s heart.
“I’ll remember you, Lynn Bartleon.”
With those words, Shirina pulled up her hood, muttered a few reassuring words to Xiya, and turned to leave. She had a celebration banquet to attend and many responsibilities to prepare for. She couldn’t waste any more time here.
However, Yveste frowned in displeasure. “You’re not allowed to remember him.”
Shirina’s steps faltered.
Behind her, Lynn’s righteous voice rang out. “Don’t worry, Your Highness. Whether she remembers me or not, I will never remember anyone less beautiful than you.”
“Good boy~”
Shirina stumbled slightly.
Calm down! she reminded herself. There’s no need to argue with a child!
As Shirina walked away, the image of the black-haired, blue-eyed youth lingered in her mind. For some reason, she felt a strange pressure in her chest.
Those two maniacs... they’re going to be the death of me.
