Stealing Hearts with Clairvoyant: The Village Doctor

Chapter 9: Chapter 9 Conditional

After walking for a while, the fragrance of medicinal herbs kept getting stronger and stronger. At this moment, Liu Mou was very excited because he knew that the medicinal herbs were not far from him.

Just as Liu Mou continued to advance, suddenly a giant python appeared not far from him. Liu Mou was taken aback, as he had never seen such a large python before, and immediately froze in place.

This python, with its body releasing a strong scent of herbs and possessing a pitch-black color, was as thick as a child and was coiled up, staring intently at Liu Mou.

Although Liu Mou possessed some martial arts prowess, he still felt a bit apprehensive facing such a terrifying creature. No matter what, the impact of such a hefty python was too much for Liu Mou to handle.

However, the thick fragrance of the herbs had already reached his nose. Liu Mou looked around for a while and finally noticed something unusual about this place. Behind the python, there was a clearing with some medicinal herbs growing on it. Clearly, this was the place that had attracted Liu Mou, the location of the herbs he was searching for.

To get these herbs, he would have to get past this python. From the smell emanating from the python, Liu Mou knew that this patch of herbs was the python's territory. If he wanted to take something from its territory, he would have to get its consent. But could he really fight this python? Although he had great strength, he had never considered fighting such a hefty python. And so, Liu Mou and the python entered a standoff.

Liu Mou, perhaps because the python hadn't attacked him, made a strange gesture and said to the python, "Brother, I know this is your territory, but I need these herbs to sell for money to get married. Could you please let me pick some?"

To Liu Mou's amazement, after he finished speaking, the python seemed to understand his words, swayed its body, and then simply left. Seeing the thick trail it left on the ground, Liu Mou snapped out of the bizarre moment he had just experienced.

"What's the situation here? The python actually understood what I said. Could it be that my aura was too powerful, and the python knew it was no match for me, so it wisely chose to leave?" Liu Mou was secretly proud of himself at this moment.

Liu Mou immediately went to the area with the medicinal herbs. The plot was vast, filled with herbs that he didn't even know the names of. Liu Mou crouched down to take a closer look at the herbs when suddenly, words popped into his mind.

Gastrodia elata, sweet in taste, mainly arrests convulsions and calms fright. It treats dizziness, black vision, headaches, limb numbness, paralysis, speech difficulties, and children's convulsions caused by terror.

As these words surfaced in his mind, Liu Mou was astonished to discover that he also possessed the ability to identify medicinal herbs; this was simply heaven-defying. From now on, there wouldn't be any medicinal substances he didn't know.

This must have been the mysterious event that happened that day. I might have received the true inheritance of the so-called Medicine King. Could it be that I can also heal illnesses? Since it is the Medicine King, the medical skills must be top-notch. Otherwise, how could one dare to assume such a title? With this realization, Liu Mou finally understood his own strength and value—this was a great opportunity given by the heavens.

After letting his thoughts run wild, he stuffed his prepared bag full of Tianma and left the place. He made a mark here, planning to come back later for more herbs.

Looking at the bag full of Tianma, his heart swelled with joy. This time, he was going to make a fortune. He absolutely had to earn money and then quickly marry Li Baixuan and make her his wife. Otherwise, if someone else got to her first, he would be at a huge loss.

Thinking of Li Baixuan, he hummed a tune while heading home. When he arrived, he saw that nobody was around and put the bag of Tianma into his room. He then decided to go to the fields to check on them. He had left the task of spraying pesticides to his father, Liu Laquan, as he was still the head of the household. It was best for him to deal with the villagers, both old and young.

While Liu Mou was feeling bored, suddenly, he saw a group of women from the village rushing in one direction. Out of curiosity, he quickly asked what was happening. Upon hearing their words, he became enraged because Sang Xiuli had actually been captured by that witch in the village, with claims that she was being taken for exorcism.

Liu Mou knew about this witch—she was just an old woman who fooled people and had no real skills, only knowing how to use crooked ways to confuse people's hearts. What puzzled him was that there were still some in the village who were blindly following this woman. He wondered if their brains had been kicked by a donkey.

At that moment, Liu Mou hurriedly followed them. He felt sympathy for Sang Xiuli, who had taken good care of him when he was a child. Now, with her husband likely to leave her, she was alone and pitiable. No matter what, he was determined to intervene in this matter and teach that witch and her followers a harsh lesson.

The commotion was not small, attracting even Liu Laquan and Chen Shuhua, who had been out in the fields spraying pesticides. Of course, Liu Mou didn't expect much from these onlookers, as they were mainly there to watch the excitement. This matter concerned him alone because he was there wholeheartedly for Sang Xiuli.

When he arrived at the center of the exorcism, Liu Mou saw the witch and Wang Gouzi standing on a high platform. Sang Xiuli was tied to a post, her face deathly pale, clearly in a bad state.

Seeing this scene, Liu Mou knew he couldn't delay any longer. With a leap, he easily jumped onto the high platform—a jump which caught everyone's attention, even startling the witch and Wang Gouzi.

"Damn, Liu Mou, look at you go! You can clear such a height; this isn't a place for you to hang around. Get the hell down from here," Wang Gouzi said, unaware that Liu Mou was there to cause trouble, but still clearly displeased.

Liu Mou looked at Wang Gouzi and said coldly, "Wang Gouzi, you and that witch better release Sister Sang Xiuli immediately. Can't you see how weak she is? If her treatment gets delayed, it could be fatal."

Only then did Wang Gouzi realize Liu Mou was here to disrupt things. He sneered and said, "Kid, you're looking for trouble today, aren't you? Do you know where this is? This is the sacred altar of exorcism. If you don't back off, today I'll have to give you a proper lesson." With that, Wang Gouzi revealed his thick arms, looking ruffianly as he faced Liu Mou.
