Chapter 32 - Stir the Water Before Fishing
On the other side, the significant disturbance caused by Eternal Technology Inc. had come to the attention of the authorities. Due to the magnitude of the situation, it was clear that regular law enforcement couldn’t handle it. Therefore, it was handed over to the Yancheng Defense Base.
The Yancheng Defense Base took this matter extremely seriously. They immediately dispatched personnel to Eternal Technology Inc. to secure the scene. At the same time, Lin Zhendong made a phone call to contact the person in charge at Eternal Technology Inc. He wanted to gather information and find out what exactly had happened.
Ever since Qin Yu’s disappearance, Eternal Technology Inc.’s branch in Yancheng had been under the control of Lì huā, both openly and covertly. The person in charge, who had been responsible for maintaining appearances, was unceremoniously removed from their position by Lì huā.
That’s why Lin Zhendong’s call was directed to Lì huā.
“Lì huā, tonight Eternal Technology Inc. has caused a significant disturbance, resulting in the deaths of many people. I believe you should provide an explanation for this, don’t you think?” Lin Zhendong inquired.
“I apologize, Minister Lin. The incident occurred due to internal reasons within our organization. We had a traitor attempting to steal company secrets. In order to prevent their actions, conflicts broke out, leading to the unfortunate casualties. I deeply regret any trouble this has caused you,” Lì huā replied.
“Conflicts broke out? Lì huā, I believe you’re downplaying the situation. Nearly a hundred people are dead, and you can only describe it as conflicts? I wonder how you define a significant event. If this matter isn’t handled properly, there’s a possibility that all of Eternal Technology Inc.’s activities in Yancheng will be suspended. It’s in your best interest to cooperate and provide me with the details so that we can resolve this matter,” Lin Zhendong stated firmly.
Lin Zhendong wasn’t a fool. It was clear that Lì huā’s words were meant to conceal something. That something was probably not meant to see the light of day. If they didn’t get to the bottom of this, there could be more trouble in the future, and as the head of the defense base, Lin Zhendong couldn’t afford to take such risks.
“Minister Lin, look at how surprised you are. Since you’re so eager to know, I’ll tell you. It was a person called Kamen Rider Decade who intruded into our company. He attempted to steal our company’s confidential information. In order to protect our corporate secrets, we were forced to engage in a battle, which ultimately led to this situation. Rest assured, we will handle this matter ourselves, and there’s no need for your defense base to worry,” Lì huā replied.
“Kamen Rider Decade? Lì huā, are you absolutely sure that all of this was done by Kamen Rider Decade?” Lin Zhendong was taken aback by this revelation.
Lin Zhendong knew exactly who Kamen Rider Decade was. In fact, Yancheng Defense Base had been actively trying to investigate Kamen Rider Decade’s identity and background. Hearing that such a major incident had been caused by Kamen Rider Decade didn’t surprise Lin Zhendong at all.
“Minister Lin, based on what you just said, do you know Kamen Rider Decade? Is he an official representative of Dragon Country?” Lì huā’s heart skipped a beat. She feared the possibility that Kamen Rider Decade might be associated with Dragon Country’s government. If that were the case, it could mean the exposure of Eternal Technology Inc.’s secrets, which would be disastrous.
Both of them had their own hidden agendas, but they couldn’t guess each other’s true intentions.
Lin Zhendong didn’t want to be associated with Kamen Rider Decade’s actions and quickly distanced him from any official connection to Dragon Country.
“No, Kamen Rider Decade is not affiliated with our Dragon Country’s government. He has been causing some trouble recently, and we have been investigating him. We didn’t expect him to target Eternal Technology Inc. He’s quite audacious,” Lin Zhendong replied, trying to disassociate Kamen Rider Decade from the Dragon Country government.
“Minister Lin, does this mean that you know Kamen Rider Decade’s true identity? If possible, please inform me. He has caused significant damage to our company this time, and I must seek retribution,” Lì huā’s true intention was to eliminate Qing Mu before everything was exposed. She wanted to act preemptively and eliminate all witnesses.
Lin Zhendong, a shrewd individual, sensed that something was amiss, even though he didn’t know the full story. He started adopting an official tone.
“I’m sorry, Miss Lì huā, but Kamen Rider Decade’s identity is classified information, and I cannot disclose it to anyone. However, we will investigate this matter thoroughly. If it turns out that Kamen Rider Decade intentionally provoked and caused losses to your company, the Yancheng Defense Base will not tolerate it. Rest assured, we will ensure justice is served.”
“Minister Lin, is there no room for negotiation? If you are willing to reveal Kamen Rider Decade’s true identity, I am willing to sponsor one billion privately. Just say the word, and tomorrow, one billion worth of gold and jewels will be delivered to your home. You can convert these assets into cash at any location where Eternal Technology Inc. holds shares worldwide.”
“Miss Lì huā, please respect me. Your current words are quite dangerous. If others were to overhear, both of us might face legal consequences. Do you understand?” Lin Zhendong’s tone was stern and somewhat angry.
Unbeknownst to Qing Mu, this night had set in motion a flurry of activities involving Eternal Technology Inc. and Yancheng Defense Base, two major forces in the city.
Lin Zhendong, in particular, had to tread carefully. He didn’t want to jeopardize his reputation and position by accepting bribes, no matter how tempting they might be.
After hanging up the phone, Lin Zhendong muttered to himself, still slightly shaken by the situation.
“I had intended to gather information, but I almost got myself into trouble. Eternal Technology Inc. is causing quite a lot of harm.”
However, this incident only fueled Lin Zhendong’s curiosity even more. He wondered what was going on between Kamen Rider Decade and Eternal Technology Inc. that warranted such a hefty sum from Lì huā just to discover Kamen Rider Decade’s true identity.
He couldn’t easily believe it was just about revenge.
“It seems it’s time to confront this Kamen Rider Decade directly. We can’t keep beating around the bush. Sometimes, we need to get to the heart of the matter.”
Lin Zhendong proceeded to make calls and issue orders to his trusted subordinates, setting tasks in motion.
As for Qing Mu, he remained unaware of the turmoil he had incited in the usually peaceful city of Yancheng. Who would ultimately benefit or suffer from this turbulent situation remained an unknown factor for the time being.
