Chapter 11 - My Drive, a Gift from Dad – Envious?
“Well, I must apologize for making you wait here for so long. So, what’s the reason for your patience? Are you inviting me to dinner?” Qing Mu shrugged, trying to appear innocent.
There was no hint of the fierceness he had displayed towards Lin Qianqian yesterday.
Lin Qianqian almost burst into laughter at Qing Mu’s words.
“You hit me yesterday, and today you expect me to treat you to a meal? Just how thick-skinned can one be to say something like that so boldly? Do you want me to order a feast for you as well?”
“No, no need for a feast. What’s the use of a feast? It’s more practical to fill our stomachs. If you want to chat a bit more with me, then invite me to eat. If you don’t plan to treat me, I’ll take my leave. My stomach is growling, and I don’t have the energy for small talk.” Qing Mu patted his stomach, genuinely appearing hungry.
“You! You! You!” Lin Qianqian was infuriated, her face turning red.
Just yesterday, Qing Mu had beaten her, and today he was blackmailing her into a meal. Throughout her life, she had never experienced such humiliation. If it weren’t for the crowd and her inability to defeat Qing Mu, she would have transformed into Kamen Rider Zero-One and dealt with him right then and there.
Qing Mu seemed unfazed by Lin Qianqian’s anger. “So, have you made up your mind?”
“I’ll treat! I’ll treat!” Lin Qianqian gritted her teeth and agreed to Qing Mu’s demand. However, in her heart, she made another entry in her grudge book against Qing Mu. This debt would be settled sooner or later.
“Here’s the meal card. You can use it to pay for the food,” Lin Qianqian handed over her meal card to Qing Mu.
“So, this is what it feels like to be kept by a wealthy woman, huh? I finally understand now. Let’s go upstairs; it’s too crowded down here, and it’s hard to have a proper conversation with so many people around.” Qing Mu didn’t hesitate to accept the meal card and headed upstairs.
The first and second floors of the cafeteria offered relatively common and affordable food. There were many diners.
The upstairs section was slightly more expensive and usually frequented by well-off students. Naturally, there were fewer people there.
Qing Mu wasn’t trying to take advantage; he simply wanted a quieter place to talk.
Just wanting to find a quieter place to eat and see if he could learn more about the truth of this world from Lin Qianqian, the two of them crossed the ground floor lobby and headed upstairs.
Along the way, Lin Qianqian attracted countless glances.
“Isn’t that Lin Qianqian?”
“Who’s the guy walking in front of her? I don’t think I’ve seen him before.”
“Strange, Lin Qianqian is actually having lunch with someone; this is big news!”
“Lin Qianqian is so beautiful, she’s the number one beauty in our school, and she has countless admirers. But she’s never shown them any kindness. How come she’s having a meal in the school cafeteria with a guy today?”
“If Lin Qianqian’s admirers find out, they’ll probably be heartbroken.”
“By the way, does anyone know that guy? He looks decent; I wonder what he’s capable of to be so close to Miss Lin.”
“Don’t know him, probably a freshman.”
“A freshman who just started school can get close to Miss Lin, our role model! It’s worth learning from.”
“Hurry, spread this news! I have a feeling there’s going to be some excitement!”
“……”
Lin Qianqian came from a prominent family and was exceptionally beautiful, making her a prominent figure even at Yancheng University. Some even dubbed her one of the campus beauties.
There were many admirers pursuing Lin Qianqian within the school, but she had always been busy with monster extermination and missions. She dismissed these suitors with disdain. Ever since becoming a Kamen Rider, ordinary people no longer caught Lin Qianqian’s attention. She aspired to be with truly invincible heroes, those who could eliminate all monsters and save the world.
Qing Mu and Lin Qianqian made their way directly to the top floor of the cafeteria. Compared to the more common options on the first and second floors, this area was notably upscale, similar to some mid-range restaurants outside.
Qing Mu chose a hot pot restaurant without hesitation, swiping Lin Qianqian’s meal card with audacity and ordering a variety of dishes he enjoyed.
“Eating hot pot in the middle of the day, you really seem eager to bleed me dry,” Lin Qianqian remarked, watching as hundreds of yuan were deducted from her card. While her family was well-off, it was still discomforting to see her ‘enemy’ spending her money so freely, especially in such large quantities.
She almost felt like chopping Qing Mu into pieces and using him as an ingredient for the hot pot.
“Come on, cheer up, smile a bit. After all, I’m the one treating, so why wear a frown? Let’s eat together,” Qing Mu, despite using Lin Qianqian’s funds, behaved as if he were the host, extending an invitation to her.
“Hmph!” Lin Qianqian snorted, venting her dissatisfaction. She then opened her utensils and began preparing her condiments.
Money was spent and couldn’t be recovered, but at least she intended to enjoy the meal and get something in return. While the dishes hadn’t arrived yet, Lin Qianqian took the opportunity to inquire about Qing Mu.
“Who are you really? Why couldn’t I find any information about you in the student records? Aren’t you a student at Yancheng University?”
“Maybe it’s because I’m a freshman in my first year, and my records haven’t been entered into the system yet. It’s not my fault,” Qing Mu replied calmly.
The previous night, Lin Qianqian had searched tirelessly through Yancheng University’s student records to uncover Qing Mu’s background, but to no avail.
So, she resorted to a rather crude method: staking out Qing Mu in the cafeteria. She believed that with determination, she could eventually uncover Qing Mu’s true identity. Fortunately, luck was on her side, and on the very first day of her surveillance, she had a chance to confront Qing Mu.
“You know my name, but I still don’t know yours. What’s your name?” Lin Qianqian inquired.
“I’m Qing Mu, but of course, when there’s no one around, I prefer it if you call me Kamen Rider Decade,” Qing Mu replied with a hint of playfulness.
“Where did you get that Rider Drive you’re using? We don’t have that kind of Rider Drive anywhere in our country. Are you not from here?” Lin Qianqian questioned further.
“I’m a hundred percent a genuine citizen of this country. As for the origin of this Rider Drive, I don’t know much about it. It was something my dad left for me. All I know is it’s called the Decade Drive, or you can call it the Emperor Drive, but beyond that, I’m in the dark,” Qing Mu replied, carefully choosing what information to reveal. He steered the conversation towards his father, Qin Yu.
At the moment, his parents were missing, and their fate was uncertain. Qing Mu was eager to find them as soon as possible and knew he needed help. Lin Qianqian seemed well-connected and influential. If he could enlist her or her network’s assistance, there might be hope in locating his parents.
