Darui heaved a sigh of relief. "Thanks to you, Samui. Otherwise, I would have died from that blow just now."

"Now is not the time for thanks. This guy's attacks are relentless. We need to fight together and not face him alone," Samui said, looking at Hitani solemnly. "Just like we practiced with Lord Raikage before, you handle close combat, and I'll—"

"Hadō #63: Raikōhō (Thunder Roar Cannon)," Hitani interrupted, releasing a golden ball of light from his palm. It struck Samui's shoulder.

Boom!!

Samui's body was engulfed in smoke, flung more than ten meters away like a broken kite. She hit the ground with a thud and lay motionless.

Darui froze for a few seconds before shouting, "Samui!!"

Whoosh!

Before he could react, Hitani's Zanpakutō slashed across Darui's neck.

Darui felt the world spin as his head slid from his shoulders. His eyes widened, filled with disbelief and unwillingness to die.

Hitani looked at Darui's lifeless body and spoke coldly, "You discuss tactics in front of me as if I'd wait for you to finish. How naive."

Hitani, his Zanpakutō dripping with blood, walked over to Samui, who lay crumpled in the distance.

Samui's clothes were torn, and her body was covered in blood. Surprisingly, she wasn't unconscious, but her bones were shattered, leaving her unable to move.

Hitani raised an eyebrow. "You survived my Raikōhō. Your durability is impressive for a jōnin."

"Cough, cough…" Samui coughed up blood, glaring at Hitani with red eyes. "I lost. Kill me if you want! Don't think I'll betray the village!"

Hitani stared at her silently, as if contemplating something.

Samui grew uneasy under his gaze. "What are you looking at? Do it! Kumogakure ninja aren't afraid of death!"

Hitani said, "Earlier, a Konoha kunoichi named Uzuki Yugao came after me. I didn't kill her. I captured her instead." Samui remained silent, unsure why he was telling her this.

Hitani continued, "Killing you kunoichi gives me little in return. But capturing you? That's a continuous source of sin value. Keeping you alive is far more profitable."

Samui's eyes widened. "You… want to capture me?"

"Not as dumb as you look," Hitani nodded.

"I'll never let a traitor like you capture me!" Samui pulled out an explosive tag, ready to self-destruct.

"Bakudō #1: Sai (Restrain)," Hitani tapped her shoulder lightly.

Samui's arms were instantly bound behind her back by an invisible force, rendering her unable to move.

She struggled and shouted, "If you're a real ninja, kill me!"

"Who said I'm a ninja? I'm just a bastard who enjoys killing," Hitani said, slinging Samui over his shoulder and walking back toward Amegakure.

Samui yelled, "Let me go! I'll never surrender to you! Capturing me is pointless!"

Three days later.

Hitani returned to the Hidden Rain Base with Yugito Nii, Samui, and Uchiha Itachi.

In the base's main hall, Pain and Kisame were sitting on a sofa, drinking tea and chatting.

Seeing Hitani enter, Pain said, "Welcome back. Good work. Just toss the Jinchūriki on the ground; we'll handle her later."

Uchiha Itachi casually dropped the paralyzed Yugito onto the floor. "She's paralyzed from the waist down, courtesy of Mr. Hitani. She can't move below the neck. But Mr. Hitani also brought back a… trophy."

Pain and Kisame turned their attention to Hitani, who was carrying a golden-haired woman with an exaggerated figure over his shoulder.

Pain raised an eyebrow. "Who's this?"

"Samui, one of the Raikage's confidants," Hitani replied indifferently.

Pain was intrigued. "She's our enemy. Why bring her back?"

Hitani didn't bother explaining and carried Samui toward the second-floor bedrooms.

Kisame smirked. "Isn't it obvious? Mr. Hitani seems to have a thing for beautiful kunoichi. Remember Uzuki Yugao from Konoha? She's already in his room."

Pain nodded in realization. "Ah, I see. For someone as powerful as Mr. Hitani, the ninja taboos don't apply."

Then he frowned. "But two kunoichi… Can he handle that?"

"Ahem," Uchiha Itachi coughed, signaling they should drop the topic.

Pain straightened up. "Right. Itachi, I asked you to observe Mr. Hitani. Did you learn anything useful?"

Kisame also leaned in, curious.

Uchiha Itachi shook his head. "No."

"Nothing? You didn't see him fight?" Pain asked, puzzled.

Uchiha Itachi sighed. "I saw it, but I couldn't analyze it. My Sharingan couldn't see through or copy his techniques."

"Even your eyes can't copy his techniques?" Pain's curiosity deepened.

Uchiha Itachi continued, "Mr. Hitani told me to relay this: his fighting style is something we'll never understand. He said not to waste time analyzing him. He won't betray Akatsuki because his interests align with the organization. Betrayal offers him no benefit."

"...He's certainly confident," Pain said, feeling a rare sense of helplessness. "If that's the case, fine. For now, Mr. Hitani hasn't done anything against the organization. I have no reason to doubt him."

Uchiha Itachi nodded in agreement.

Pain changed the subject. "Let's prepare to seal the Jinchūriki. The others are waiting in the basement."

Without a word, Kisame hoisted Yugito over his shoulder and headed for the basement.

Yugito, paralyzed and helpless, could only shout, "Let me go! I demand to speak to your leader!"

Pain and the others ignored her, continuing their preparations.
