Starting With a Reef [Global Survival]

chapter 144 - The 28th Day of Summer 02

In the afternoon, Yun Luohe and the others returned to the reef.
Because it was a Lucky Day, everyone’s haul from the desert was abundant—they had dug up plenty of electronic parts, obsidian, and magnets while treasure-hunting.
Yun Luohe had even discovered a vein of Blue Crystal Ore with the help of a Blue Crystal Lizard. The group mined until the desert timer expired, unwilling to leave, before being transported back to the reef. The vein still held plenty, and they could continue digging the next day.
The first order of business after returning was organizing supplies.
This time, the biggest prize was more than a hundred pieces of Blue Crystal Ore.
Blue Crystal Ore was extremely valuable. At first, players had only known it could forge high-grade weapons and armor. But as exploration continued, more uses had been discovered.
For example, it could craft an electromagnetic harpoon—particularly deadly against sharks, making it an excellent shark-hunting tool.
It could also be used to make a refrigerator, able to preserve food and medicine for much longer.
She planned to ask Yang Mian for help forging two hunting knives from Blue Crystal Ore, then craft two sheaths herself to strap to her waist. Twin blades, easy to draw at any time—a perfect setup for close combat.
Once her loot was sorted, Yun Luohe ate a meal to fill her stomach, then got ready to open the shells.
That morning, Roubao had fished up three more.
Adding the six she had saved from the past two days, she now had nine shells to open in one go.
The anticipation was high.
Hopefully she would pull some new blueprints or other useful items.
Since it was a Lucky Day, at least one golden or black pearl should appear. Yun Luohe felt confident.
The first shell cracked open.
Inside was a white pearl.
On a Lucky Day, a white pearl was the guaranteed minimum.
The contents were all basic upgrade materials and ingredients:
[Magnet ×10, Copper Ore ×20, Iron Ore ×15, Cotton Thread ×5, Bamboo ×5, Flour ×2, Nougat ×1, Brown Sugar ×1, Rotten Potato ×1, Fermented Tofu ×1]
Nothing amazing, but not bad either.
Yun Luohe opened the second shell.
Another white pearl. This time, it was mostly broken blueprints—five in total, plus two sets of tableware ornaments.
Actually, Yun Luohe preferred these.
Once recycled in the Trash Bin and upgraded, they could become something valuable.
After two days stuck on the reef without drawing, she had been itching for this. Island expeditions were rewarding, but she had been longing for the lottery.
Tonight, she would draw no matter what!
Later, she would recycle Mu Zitang’s spare loot too, to maximize the pool.
The third shell finally revealed a golden pearl.
Yes!
[Opened Golden Pearl. Obtained: Compost Bin Blueprint ×1, Bread Oven Blueprint ×1, Drying Rack ×1, Pumpkin Seed ×1, Grape Seed ×1, Steam Cooker Set ×1, Incubator Blueprint ×1, Sap Collector ×1, Star Sand ×1, Brewing Barrel ×1, Carp ×2, Teaming Card ×1]
Yun Luohe’s eyes lit up.
Golden pearls really were packed with treasures!
[Compost Bin: Transforms animal manure, crop residue, and weeds into organic fertilizer, improving soil fertility and shortening crop growth cycles.]
[Materials: Plank ×5, Stone ×10, Rope ×5, Copper Ingot ×2]

The Compost Bin was simple to craft and a universal necessity. Yun Luohe didn’t have time to make many herself, but she could hand the blueprint to others in the association to mass-produce and trade for resources—maximizing profits.
[Bread Oven: Used to bake dough into bread. Requires flour, milk, and eggs.]
[Materials: Brick ×15, Iron Ingot ×8, Firebrick ×5]
[Drying Rack: Dries fish or meat into light provisions. Preserves food and reduces spoilage.]
[Steam Cooker Set: A multifunctional steamer that can process three ingredients at once.]
[Incubator: Speeds up egg hatching and allows rare bird eggs to be incubated.]
[Materials: Insulation Cotton ×10, Thermometer ×1, Copper Wire ×8]
[Sap Collector: Attach to a tree to slowly extract sap. Different trees yield different sap, usable in cooking or tool upgrades.]
[Materials: Iron Bucket ×1, Plastic Tube ×3, Resin ×5, Copper Ingot ×2]
Yun Luohe sorted the first three shells’ loot into categories, then kept going.
Three more shells opened—white pearls, full of common materials.
The seventh shell produced a gray pearl. Probably balance after the earlier bounty—inside was nothing but scrap metal, spoiled food, and broken furniture.
Yun Luohe didn’t mind.
It could all be recycled into something useful.
Onward!
[Opened White Pearl. Obtained: Bronze Gear ×2, Apple Vinegar ×1, Adventure Guidebook ×1, Beer ×12, Seaweed Face Mask ×1, Snail Noodles ×1, Mugwort ×1, Hemp Rope ×1, Advanced Sprinkler Blueprint ×1]
The most useful here was the Advanced Sprinkler Blueprint. It could automatically water eight farmland tiles at once.
But the crafting materials were heavy: 10 Obsidian, 5 Copper Ingots, plus pipes and bronze gears.
If she wanted several, she’d need more bronze gears.
That left the last shell.
Yun Luohe thought today’s luck had run its course—
But then Roubao trotted over with one more shell in its mouth. “Meow! Just fished up another!”
Somehow, Yun Luohe had a hunch this one was special.
Sure enough—when it opened, her eyes widened.
[Opened Black Pearl. Obtained: Starwish Tree Compendium ×1, Designated Island Entry Card ×1, Wicker Starry-Sky Sofa Blueprint ×1, Reef Teleportation Array Blueprint ×1, Mother-of-Pearl ×2, Pickling Workshop Blueprint ×1, Earthen Kiln Workshop Blueprint ×1, Cow Massage Brush ×1, Automatic Feeder ×1, Sharkskin ×1]
The Starwish Tree Compendium!
And the Reef Teleportation Array blueprint!
This Lucky Day was incredible. If only every day were like this.
Yun Luohe ignored the other items for now and pulled out the two big prizes to examine.
[Starwish Tree: Unique legendary tree species.
Planting Requirements:
Can only be planted in High-Grade Soil. All land within 1km radius must also be High-Grade Soil. Requires ≥2 hours of direct moonlight daily. During seed and sapling phases, must be watered daily with Golden Nutrient Solution.
Growth Stages: Seedling, Growth, Maturity.
Each stage requires different amounts of nutrient solution depending on its state.
Once mature, the Starwish Tree can grant wishes.
You may choose 1 of 5 wishes:
—Wish of Fortune: Guarantees a Golden Chest every two days.
—Wish of Harvest: All crop yield +50%.
—Wish of Defense: Protective barrier around reef, blocks 80% of incoming attacks.
—Wish of Health: Reef’s animals and plants +80% health, greatly reducing disease.
—Wish of Nature: Accelerates reef’s ecosystem, generating diverse wildlife.
Each wish requires a corresponding sacrificial offering.
Once the Starwish Tree matures, offerings for each wish will be revealed.
Only one wish may be active at a time. To change, another offering must be sacrificed.
Only one Starwish Tree can be planted per reef.]
The compendium also illustrated the three growth stages.
In the seedling phase, glowing young leaves sprouted. In the growth phase, runes of wish-making appeared on the trunk, marking the offerings required.
In maturity, starry fruits would grow in the crown. Then watering could cease, offerings could be sacrificed, and the star-fruits would fall—granting the chosen wish.
Yun Luohe was exhilarated.
She hadn’t decided which wish to pick yet, but planting the tree couldn’t wait. Maturity would take time, so the sooner the better.
She immediately contacted Du Ruan-tian, asking her to prioritize crafting Golden Nutrient Solution.
She also shared the materials list with Mu Zitang, asking him to keep collecting spares.
Her own stockpile wouldn’t be enough.
At the same time, she organized her Strawberry Island intel and sent it to Mu Zitang, urging him to visit too. A legendary tree species like the Starwish Tree would massively benefit any reef—early acquisition was crucial.
If needed, Starwish Tree intel could even be traded for vast resources. Obtaining the compendium itself already qualified as S-rank intel.
Yun Luohe then opened the Reef Teleportation Array blueprint.
She had seen blueprints for teleportation arrays before—six regions in total. She hadn’t expected there would also be one specifically for the reef.
But then she realized—of course.
Compared to the six regional arrays, the Reef Array was the most important.
Without it, she couldn’t teleport freely from her reef to other zones. And without it, even if she used an array in another region, she couldn’t instantly return to her reef.
The Reef Teleportation Array was effectively the central hub. All travel—outward and homeward—depended on it.
[Reef Teleportation Array: Enables cross-region fast travel. Each teleport consumes Crystal ×2.]
[Construction Materials: Ancient Civilization Slate ×1, Obsidian ×200, Mother-of-Pearl ×2, Advanced Mutant Resin ×10, Crystal ×200, Advanced Hardwood ×500]
The material requirements were ~Nоvеl𝕚ght~ staggering.
Especially the 200 crystals. She didn’t have nearly enough.
She would have to shelve the blueprint for now and focus on gathering crystals.
Already, the silo blueprint and mutant plant cultivation base blueprint demanded heavy crystal use.
Her reserves were running low. Hundreds more—where would she even get them?
In the early game, a single crystal had been precious. Now everything seemed to cost fifty, a hundred at a time.
She sighed and checked the other blueprints.
[Wicker Starry-Sky Sofa Blueprint: Set includes three-seater sofa + single chair. Warm in winter, cool in summer, extremely comfortable. Using the full Starry-Sky furniture set increases Meteor Shower Event probability by 30%.]
[Materials: Mutant Vine ×50, Firefly ×50, Advanced Hardwood ×100, Cotton ×10]
She had already obtained the Wicker Starry-Sky Bed. Now with the sofa blueprint, she wondered what other pieces completed the set.
She had to collect them all.
The Meteor Shower Event intrigued her greatly.
Perhaps falling stars could grant wishes. Or perhaps when the sky rained meteors, rare items would fall with them.
