Starting Out with an Infinite Skill Tree!

Ch. 8

Chapter 8. In the Name of 'Restia', there Shall Be No More Demon Lord in This World!

The rewriting of reality's rules succeeded.

In that moment, the laws governing all things in existence were redefined.

The Demon Lord exchanged the entirety of her mana and the immense “Truth” she had mastered for the opportunity to successfully reincarnate with all her power “sealed.”

For a girl capable of altering the orbit of celestial bodies with a single word, whose speech could interfere with reality itself…Reincarnation was nothing more than a trivial matter.

But if she wished to become an “ordinary person”, then the immense power and talent she carried could not be carried over into her next life. Otherwise, her life might just repeat the same tragedy all over again.

Countless layers of complex, mysterious magic circles unfolded before the Demon Lord's eyes—

The very next moment, beneath the countless fearful and bewildered gazes of the common folk, the girl took a single step forward!

And then, beyond that dazzling white light, the figure of the “Demon Lord” vanished completely from this world!

......

—The “Demon Lord” had vanished! She completely disappeared from this world!

Boom!

As though a massive boulder had been dropped into the still surface of a lake—

The moment this news spread across the surface world, all the great nations and churches were thrown into panic and turmoil.

That girl called the Demon Lord—in truth, the final "Divine Pillar" upholding the world.

She was the only one who could oppose, even annihilate, the other Demon Gods who were also "Pillars."

She was the final line of defense—the "last hope" of humanity.

And yet now, that "final defense line" had, right in her own domain, before the eyes of countless subjects—simply "disappeared"!

The nations boiled over!

Those rulers who knew of certain hidden truths about the world grew desperate!

That girl whom none had taken seriously before—It wasn't that the people of the world didn't understand her importance. Rather, they believed firmly that no one could harm or kill that girl.

What they never imagined... was that the girl would strike at herself!

Yes! Her power was unrivaled!

Her grasp of the "Principles of the World" was beyond anyone's reach!

She was like a spirit, a blessed child bestowed upon mortals by the heavens!

No one could defeat her, much less harm her!

Her power made her ageless, deathless.

Her beauty surpassed even the most radiant princesses of the continent—

Flowers themselves lost their brilliance before her.

She was the one and only, the strongest "Hero."

And at the same time, the "Demon Lord" who could singlehandedly suppress the Demon God Pillars and the world itself!

However—

Now that "strongest" had disappeared!

And only once she was truly gone did those who once shunned her, those who avoided her as though she were a plague, begin to feel terror... and regret.

They regretted not sending someone to properly remain by her side.

With the girl's departure, the world began to waver and grow uneasy.

On the surface, nothing seemed to have changed: Merchants and porters still rushed their goods.

Farmers and slaves still toiled in the fields and mines.

The nobles still reveled in their splendid palaces, singing, drinking, and drowning in luxury and indulgence.

But in places unseen—

In the shadows—the slain Demon God Pillars, and the Demon Gods lingering in the Abyss of Hell...began to stir, roused by the sudden disappearance of the Demon Lord's presence.

"Ji-ji... ji-ji-ji-ji-ji-ji!!"

From the very depths of the Abyss, within the suffocating, pitch-black fog where no light could reach, came a shrill, bone-chilling cry.

A long tendril, studded with crimson pupils and bulging eyes, rose upright like a towering pillar from the center of the thick mist.

"Ji-ji-ji—ji-ji-ji-ji-ji-ji-ji!!"

Then, from the far side of the Abyss, came another equally grating, ear-piercing voice.

The sounds overlapped, echoing—as though intelligent beings were conversing with each other.

And soon, it seemed they had confirmed something from one another's words...

The once-sealed, obscure auras of the Demon God Pillars began to stir with excitement and glee!

Signs of their impending unsealing faintly emerged!

Too long!

They had waited too long!

The aura of that girl, the Demon Lord, had finally vanished!

The surviving Demon God Pillars—and even those Demon Gods who had refused to revive for years, scarred by the immense psychological shadow left by the Demon Lord, clinging to existence in the Abyss as fragments of dark essence—If they had faces, by now they would be shedding tears in ecstasy at the Demon Lord's disappearance.

Rejoice! Celebrate!

That "monster" was finally gone!

From this day forward, the world would belong to the Demon Gods!

......

Ten days had passed since the disappearance of the Demon Lord.

Ten whole nights had also gone by since Yan had finished telling Giselle the story of the "Knight."

Reality proved that the world did not immediately fall into "chaos" or "collapse" just because the Demon Lord was gone.

And that girl—the Demon Lord who, upon reincarnation, longed to make friends—had now reappeared upon this land in a completely different form.

... In a village populated entirely by silver-haired, red-eyed people.

After her reincarnation, the Demon Lord's once light-golden hair had also turned silver-white.

Only her eyes, seemingly affected by her previous life, had fused ice-blue with crimson—

eventually becoming a deep wine-red, like violet gemstones.

The girl who was once the Demon Lord now brimmed with anticipation, ready to welcome her "new life."

It's worth noting that in order to fulfill the wishes of her "previous life," she carried her memories with her into reincarnation.

But those memories were far too heavy—something no ordinary human could possibly endure.

Because of this, the reincarnated girl began to experience strange abnormalities.

Each day, she would grow one year older.

This bizarre transformation continued until the ninth day—when at last it stopped.

By then, she had already grown into the appearance of a nine-year-old child.

This phenomenon nearly terrified her parents of this life.

Facing their panicked, helpless expressions, the girl herself felt a deep sense of grievance, a faint timidity—yet also one final flicker of hope toward her parents.

Though she had once been the "Demon Lord," in this new life she no longer had the overwhelming power to casually alter "reality."

She could do nothing about the changes her body was undergoing.

If her parents in this life could not accept her... the girl truly did not know what she should do.

She gazed at them blankly, wordless, her eyes hollow with despair.

But seeing the subtle change in her expression, her parents' hearts softened.

After all, this was their child.

She was not a monster—she was their daughter.

Fortunately—

In the girl's trembling, hopeful gaze, her parents, after days of sorrow, unease, and anxiety… finally chose to accept her.

They chose to accept the changes in her.

Both stepped forward, drawing close to the girl, and pulled her into a tight embrace.

"You are our child... No matter what has happened to you, the same blood runs through your veins as ours."

Her father muttered, face filled with shame yet steady with resolve.

That he had once feared his own child, that he had shown her such a look—he must have wounded her heart deeply.

What an unworthy father he was.

"Your father is right... You are our daughter. Don't be afraid, little “Restia.”

Father and Mother will never hurt you—never."

Restia—

In this new life, that lonely, expressionless girl was no longer to be called the "Demon Lord."

Now, she finally had a name of her own—Restia.

From this day forward, she was Restia.

Never again would she be that existence whose true name was forgotten, whom the world only knew and feared as the "Demon Lord."

Her face remained still, yet across her delicate, fair cheeks bloomed a faint blush. From her jewel-like eyes—clear and pure—fell crystal-like tears.

She wrapped her arms around her parents in return, and at last, nervously yet with longing, opened her mouth: "Papa... Mama..."
