Chapter 140: Preset Emptiness (End of Four Updates)
"That's not necessarily true," the man sped up a bit, his voice becoming more severe, "Stay honestly behind me."
The woman heard this and voluntarily slowed down a bit, but muttered rebelliously, "I'm just worried about your safety."
After running for a while, the man couldn't help but question, "Do I need your concern?"
A B-level Warrior naturally has the pride of a B-level Warrior, with a partner by his side; even knowing there might be traps, he's willing to charge through.
The four dashed rapidly like the wind, and soon reached a location over ten kilometers outside the city.
Qu Jianlei and Bentley rushed to a dirt slope, where there was a dense forest on the hill.
The two didn't enter the forest but stopped about five hundred meters outside it, turning to look at the two pursuing them.
The B-level man was the first to catch up, a stout middle-aged man, with an honest yet resolute face.
Following closely behind was a slightly chubby young woman, her chest slightly heaving, but a cold smile hanging at the corner of her mouth.
But Bentley's gaze immediately fixed on their wrists, his eyebrows slightly furrowing, "People from the Inspection Bureau?"
"You're familiar with us," the woman touched the Silver Ring on her wrist, sneering, "Report your name!"
"Wild ones, no name," Bentley replied lazily, "Want to make a move... then go ahead."
The woman raised her eyebrows, about to speak, but the B-level man let out a snort, "So confident?"
"What good thing comes from inspections knocking on the door?" Bentley's face showed no expression.
The man spoke in a low voice, "Identify yourself: Earth Room Patrol Chief Jamaari, did you kill Bobov?"
"That Water Attribute Warrior?" Bentley answered indifferently, "He wanted to kill us, shouldn't we resist?"
"I'm just confirming," Jamaari stated with a blank expression, "Which one of you killed him?"
"I did," Qu Jianlei and Bentley both spoke simultaneously.
"Heh," seeing the two eager to admit, Jamaari gave an unconcerned smile, "You both take responsibility."
Then he muttered to himself, "Bobov was injured, willingly transferred to become a Recruited Warrior."
Ultimate Warriors are commanded by Central City, and can transfer to become Recruited Warriors starting at seventy years old depending on their injury status.
Bobov was clearly under seventy, there must be something behind this early transfer.
Mostly, it's Ultimate Warriors unable to endure constraints, wanting a free life.
But the transfer only offers more freedom; during major events, the officials can still forcibly recruit.
It's actually civilian Ultimate Warriors, although this way, they enjoy limited resource subsidies.
Yet some are willing to forego official resources for freedom of action, which is no surprise.
The officials were very unhappy with this situation before, feeling they were ungrateful after training them.
But later they realized that forced things never go well.
Also, dispersed civilian Ultimate Warriors help with sudden malign incidents.
Another reason is that Ultimate Warriors consume many resources, transferring to civilian life saves resources effectively.
Generally, these are the reasons, and another criterion is: must have been injured for Central City,
but usually, the official still tries to retain them whenever possible.
Bentley casually smiled, "Seems advancement is hopeless."
Jamaari snorted, "Bobov's potential isn't bad; he's just a bit too clever."
"Then you have even less reason to find us," Bentley clearly understood this logic.
"Even official Ultimate Warriors aren't protected when killed in Gathering Areas, let alone Recruited Warriors?"
Jamaari nodded slightly, "True, and Bobov already missed a recruitment."
"Then he deserved it," Bentley replied without hesitation, but his eyes showed a hint of alertness.
Jamaari looked at him, spoke calmly, "But regrettably, you've provoked the Maintenance Association again."
Bentley answered with a dark expression, "I advise you to figure out clearly who provoked whom!"
"Stealing an Ultimate Warrior's draft, then framing... what do you take Ultimate Warriors for?"
"Otherwise, would I even be speaking to you two?" Jamaari sneered, "Would've already taken action long ago."
Indeed, someone had requested, hoping he'd take them down or capture these two Ultimate Warriors.
Jamaari castigated the messenger: Ultimate Warriors are naturally on the same side, dare he ask me to take action against kindred?
The messenger stated that the opposite also killed the Ultimate Warrior Bobov, which might not treat Ultimate Warriors as a family.
Jamaari had some impression of Bobov; in fact, he remembers nearly all Ultimate Warriors.
Bobov missed a recruitment; this will eventually be investigated, so it makes sense he personally investigates it.
Tanaka Yoshi was delighted upon hearing he'd come, offering fifty thousand Silver Notes as token appreciation.
However, upon investigating in Houjing, Jamaari found the situation different, Tanaka Yoshi completely twisting the truth.
Yet still, the four words—"since I'm here," so check out who took down Bobov, just completing verification.
After indicating his stance, his expression turned stern, coldly speaking to Bentley, "Still reluctant to tell your name?"
"Even if I said, you wouldn't know it," Bentley answered indifferently, "Why keep pestering?"
"Really wild?" Jamaari squinted slightly, "Reveal the source of your Cultivation Method... this is an order!"
"Stop talking nonsense," Bentley sneered, "I said it's wild, what right do you have to order me?"
