74: My Dreams Come True
RYST
"Methela, Methela." It was part groan, part sigh against my hair. Then there were words I didn't understand. My face was pushed into Nayth's neck, breath heaving as my body shook in his arms. I wasn't weeping, but there was so much emotion pouring out of me that it felt like I couldn't cry. It was too much emotion for tears.
I just trembled against his skin muttering "Ahtah, oh my Ahtah. Finally, I found you, beloved. My love, my love." I realized I was speaking Shurwinn and switched to Universal, "Nayth, Nayth, Nati, my Nayth. You're all mine. I found you. Beloved. My Ahtah, my only one."
Once I felt like the relief and madness were starting to ebb, my body relaxed a bit, and I became more aware of the man on whose lap I was sitting. My face softened, and I was filled with wonder. His skin. I could smell his skin. I could taste his skin. My hands were on the back of his neck, and my fingertips smoothed over the softness there.
My eyelashes opened and closed, kissing the smooth skin of his neck. My lips soon joined, and I felt fingers pressing into my hips. Then hands sliding around to my lower back, pulling me close against him. My lips traveled up, up that chocolate neck and over a smooth jaw and found lips that opened and a tongue that slid against mine. "Mmmmmm," we both groaned.
I pushed my chest against my Ahtah, and my fingers moved down to his collar. Down and around, and there was that stiff coat. It was buttoned up tight. I started flicking my fingers across buttons and Nayth had my right hip pulled tight against him. I could feel him. He wanted me.
Then his grip relaxed, and he pulled back from my lips, blinking. "Ryst! We're in my porter. We can't do this. I'm so sorry, love. We can't—"
He was right. First of all, it was illegal. Second of all, we couldn't have a tryst in public with every camera in the city pointing right at us. I nodded, sense returning to my brain.
"Methela, where are you staying? Do you want to get your things and come to LaGrange? Or, I can stay with you? What do you want to do?" Nayth asked.
Oh no, no, no. The giant tangle pushed down on me. I grabbed my head, feeling like pressure was pushing down on me from outside and like tension was squeezing my brain out my ears. "Stars, it's so big this time, Nayth—"
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"Ryst, are you okay? Should we go to the hospital? Methela, what's wrong?"
He sounded panicked. I shook my head, "No, Nayth. It's not medical; it's not my health. It's— it's this supernatural sense I have now. Like the dreams. Like how I found you. But there's something really big on the horizon. It's so big this time. So big I can't even see it. Something just tripped a switch, and I don't know how to turn it off."
I was rocking, holding my head, and it was only getting worse. I needed Peydran, no, Peydran was busy with Ren. Denten. Denten would work.
"Pad?"
Nayth pulled my pad out of my jacket, and I gave it a voice command to video Denten. I was sitting in Nayth's lap, rocking and holding my head.
An abrupt voice said in Shurwinn, "Lemda, are you hurt?"
I shook my head and replied, "Ahtah."
"Oh!" came a surprised response. Then Universal, "Sunshine, grandson, my name is Denten Moreland. I'm pleased to meet you."
Then the voice I loved most said, "Greetings Denten, I'm Nayth Carmidee. Ryst suddenly became distressed and says there's something really big on the horizon that she can't fully see. I'm afraid that I don't know how to help her right now. Can you help us?"
"Nayth, when this happens, she is seeing something that is coming, and usually it has a lot of moving parts, so it's difficult for her to focus. But asking her questions seems to help her find threads that she can pull to figure out what she needs to see right now. Ryst, what set this off?"
I shook my head. Not the right question.
"Well, I asked her if she wanted to come home with me or return to her lodgings. Do you think that did it?"
"Ask her."
"Ryst, do you want to come home with me?"
Wrong question. My breathing just became faster and more labored.
"Ryst, where are you staying?"
I whispered the address and heard fingers on the nav panel. "Do you want to stay in your rental tonight?"
I mashed my head into Nayth's shoulder. It wasn't about what I wanted, it was about details so giant I couldn't grasp them. Couldn't they see? It was so big.
"Lemda, should Nayth put you on a starliner to come back to Shurwinn?"
My head popped up, "No!" I shouted.
Chuckling from two men. I grabbed my head again. "It's not funny. You two are so mean. This is too big! It's too big!
"Ryst, if I park the porter on a private street, will you make love to me in it?"
My eyes popped open, and I looked at my Ahtah with surprise on my face. He was grinning. "Well, do you have condoms? I don't have any contraceptives."
Denten laughed. "Welcome back, Lemda. Are you okay?"
"I— I don't know. This is big, Denten. Bigger than ever before. Oh, by the way, I'm in love with Sturm's Galactic Minster of Hospitality— Nayth Carmidee. We met in our dreams four years ago when I first moved to Shurwinn. When I say this is something big, you should take me seriously. Because my dreams come true."
"Greetings, Denten Moreland," Nayth said, ending the video. He pulled me to him and kissed me long and deep. "I'll order condoms, Ryst. Your place or mine?"
I looked aside. "Mine to start, I think. How does that sound?"
"As long as I'm with you, we can be anywhere."
