235: Irreverently Hilarious
RORY
Bitsy told me to wrap this book so she can get it sealed into the Ayela Arcana Sanctuary. Yeah, she's the president of Known Cosmos Earth Press now, so she makes all the decisions about our publication schedule.
In Bitsy's estimation, we've done exactly what we set out to do with this book: got you oriented to Five Spheres and the reality of family life on a sphere where it doesn't matter if you're telepathic or have other gifts. For our family, life in Nineton has been wonderful, and we've chosen to celebrate that fact by writing our story.
We've gotten the word out and done what my grandpa Peydran wanted when he and Ren started the Press decades ago. We told funny, sexy stories, letting people know that the Five Spheres exist, and there's a place for them if they'd like to come.
But it doesn't end with me and Slydar growing old. We couldn't tell you everything because it's still playing out, but at some point we've gotta close this book so it can get filed in its slot in the Sanctuary, and that is what I'm doing today.
We've heard the request for more stories, and Switch and Bitsy are working on it as hard as they can. You wanna know more about them, so they'll make sure you do.
But in the meantime, there's been a lot of new developments.
Now, Sly and I have been as honest as we can about our life together and our family, and that's truly what our typical days and weeks were full of.
We met on the telepathic plane, which is odd, I know, but once we were together, we had real-life situations to deal with. First it was Muller's cancer. Then moving the entire Joon family to Nineton, and me and my parents left Shurwinn to settle on Uno too. That's a heck of a lot of real-life change, isn't it?
And you know about our travels, friendships, kids, and the day-to-day stuff of life that happened. Mostly, Sly and I were pretty grounded in the every day: kids, work, family, friends.
But there were the unusual things too. We didn't slip into esoteric mysteries as much as you've read about in the other Known Cosmos books. That just wasn't our way.
Except, you know a little about Bitsy, and you've read Slydar's accounts of her son Pitch. Things started happening that we don't fully understand. And since we can't grasp the full impact of it yet, we don't wanna be the ones to tell you that part of the story.
Let's just say that it got to the point where we couldn't ignore the weird or the changes happening in the Known Cosmos, even if we didn't understand them.
That's where Bitsy comes in. She's decided to take up the role of story teller so I can end this book. So, yeah, Sly and I are done for now, but it doesn't end today. Book 4 is not the final chapter.
Bitsy wants to tell you more about that, and she'll clue you in on the bigger picture. I think you'll like what she's got to say, so give her a chance, okay?
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
As for me, I'm just really glad you've read about me and Sly 'cuz we had so much fun puttin' all this together. And, I think you'll be hearing more from us in the days to come.
Wink.
BITSY
Hello, hello. Yes, you know about my salamander Ori and my mirka Lola. And you've even gotten a brief intro to my son Pitch and his friend the Red Phoenix from my dad. You read the chapters about HC Maron, right?
Today, I wanna tell you a development that's taking this story somewhere you haven't been in a while. You've been reading all about Andromeda and the spheres we have here, but the Known Cosmos Earth Press isn't technically based in this galaxy, is it?
There's a reason my great-grandpa Peydran based the Press out of Earth, and I doubt he knew how deep that choice would go, but he trusted grandpa Ren's songs, and I'm not one to doubt that wisdom.
From time to time, my job as President of Known Cosmos Earth Press involves me in the goings on of that lovely sphere, and recently I was asked to judge an on-stream Poetry Contest there.
The stream site Purple Road is a web-serial platform on Earth where people read stories, and we publish a lot of content on that site. We also read a lot of their books because you never know what you'll stumble across, and this proved to be a very, very valuable resource through the years.
Back to the Poetry Contest. I agreed to be a judge, and what happened should've shocked me, but I know there's no such thing as coincidence, so I'm not surprised when serendipity raises its head and connections start coming out of the woodwork.
I read more poems than you would believe, and there was a particular author who stood out. Wanna know why? Here's her name: Ayela Scarsdale.
Was that the end of the pull I felt towards her? No way.
Her poems climbed the charts immediately. Some of them were irreverently hilarious. Some had a ring of grandpa Ren's songs to them, and that made me sit up and take notice.
Then I read her web serial Moons Dancing, and I knew that she was something special.
That author enters our story in 2859, one year before the opening of the Ayela Arcana Sanctuary, and you get to read the rest from her point of view.
Don't worry, Mom, Dad, Switch, and I aren't finished writing books. And Ryst, Nayth, Peydran, Ren, and the rest of your favorite people want to tell you what's been going on in the Unknown Cosmos. We're getting to that, so just be patient.
There's more to come, but you need Ayela's story first. Things are weaving together, and we've gotta tell you about Earth before we go any further with the Five Spheres story.
So, I'm wrapping Book 4, and introducing Ayela Scarsdale, knowing that you're gonna love her as much as I do.
Enjoy Discordant. We've gone through a lot to bring it to you.
Yes, I meant that to sound ominous. The next book in this series is the first non-romance, after all. It's a dramedy - psychological thriller, and it will not disappoint. Hold on folks, things are about to get interesting.
THE END.
Book 4 is over, but the story is not.
