Starforce Warriors

Chapter 765: Destruction

The entity that had destroyed the cruise missile wasn't some kind of advanced weapon. They were five people from Great Xia. They wore black combat uniforms and tactical helmets, standing suspended in the void like deities from ancient mythology.

A man stood in the center, violet-black lightning coiling around his body. When he gestured, it was as if Zeus himself had swung his lightning scepter, as bolts of lightning surged out in all directions like silver vines spreading wildly across the sky.

Both the sky and the sea were instantly enveloped in lightning. The scene resembled a mythological sequence straight out of a Hollywood blockbuster. It was fantastical, magnificent, and absolutely something that should not exist in reality.

"Did the Great Xia develop some kind of new weapon?"

"A superhuman?"

"Is that one of their gods?"

All the high-ranking Yiggs officers inside the command center of the aircraft carrier stared in shock, unable to comprehend the footage relayed by their spy satellite.

Even Blaylon, the commander of the Special Superpower Task Force, was completely dumbfounded at the sight. He asked, "Is that... an Omega level Awakened?"

If this is truly an Awakened from Great Xia, then just what goddamn level have their supernatural capabilities evolved to?

In the Western world, Awakened were ranked from lowest to highest as Epsilon, Delta, Gamma, Beta, and Alpha. But there was one more rank above those five, the Omega level.

This classification also carried the meaning of 'ultimate.' It was the highest level of super powered individuals in Western theoretical frameworks. Up until now, this level had only existed in theory.

No Omega level Awakened had ever emerged in the West. Yet now, such a being had appeared in a nation often referred to as the homeland of Awakened. And not just one, five of them had emerged at once!

Blaylon's heart sank into an icy abyss. Omega level Awakened possessed world-ending power. In warfare, they represented a deterrent even more terrifying than nuclear weapons.

According to the most authoritative Western research lab on Awakened, the X-Laboratory, the ceiling of global Awakened power levels was determined by the upper limit of Earth's super-stellar energy.

That upper limit was slowly increasing over time. They had even recorded several strange fluctuations in recent years. Yet overall, the balance had remained stable. Based on current estimations of Earth's super-stellar energy cap, the emergence of even a single sub-Omega level Awakened in Great Xia was already considered an extremely low-probability event.

This had been one of the theoretical justifications for the Allied Forces' decision to launch a preemptive strike on Great Xia. They believed that the West would have no hope of maintaining dominance in the new era unless they seized the initiative before a true Omega level Awakened emerged in Great Xia. They had to uncover the secret behind the nation's sudden surge in Awakened.

But now... Blaylon could only hope that the five Great Xia Awakened before him weren't true Omega levels. He had to believe that they were merely faking Omega level energy through some kind of amplification method, and that Great Xia was using this illusion to bluff the Yiggs-led coalition into retreat.

In the brief silence that followed, the commander of the carrier fleet, Louis Fleur, resolutely issued the order to continue the assault. Five storm class cruise missiles were launched from submarines beneath the ocean at the distant figures of the Great Xia Awakened, hundreds of kilometers away in the sky.

In that instant, countless people around the world who were closely following the war held their breath as they waited to see what would happen next. Blaylon's heart nearly leapt into his throat.

According to the X-Laboratory's theories, Omega level Awakened possessed the ability to counter cruise missiles, even those whose abilities were least suited for combat. So, what was about to happen?

Louis Fleur, Blaylon, and the others stared at the real-time footage transmitted from the spy satellite.

Hundreds of kilometers away. Among the five Great Xia Awakened in the sky, the second from the left, a woman, suddenly raised her hands and pressed her palms together in front of her chest...

What is she doing? Praying?

This question arose simultaneously in the minds of countless observers. A moment later, a blazing white sphere of light appeared between her palms. She tilted her head slightly upward and her body arched backward gracefully. Her alluring figure was displayed in full, her curves seemingly sketched with divine precision.

"Ultimate Daylight!" A clear and powerful cry rang out from the woman's lips.

Then, the impossible happened. The dazzling white light between her hands suddenly transformed into a single beam of searing brilliance that was hundreds of kilometers long. It seared through the void like a silver divine sword tearing through the heavens, erupting in a blinding flash with a thunderous boom!

The storm class cruise missiles, which hadn't even covered a tenth of the distance, were instantly obliterated by that radiant beam.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Terrifying explosions tore through the air. Yet that wasn't even the most frightening part. The very air had seemed to ignite along the trajectory of that scorching white beam, signs of spatial distortion appearing in its wake. The seawater below began to boil.

The amount of water vaporized in an instant carved a massive trench over a hundred meters wide and hundreds of kilometers long across the ocean surface. It exposed the seafloor and coral reefs in the shallows, and countless fish and shrimp were vaporized on the spot...

Two frigates and a cruiser, caught directly in the path of the beam, were instantly bisected by the blinding blast. Those steel warships were as fragile as sponge cake before the beam. The steel ships melted into molten metal and rained down onto the black ocean surface. The sight was beyond comprehension.

In that moment, no one knew how many military fanatics and world leaders around the globe stood frozen, as if turned to stone, their souls seemingly ripped from their bodies.

"Oh God..." A groan escaped from deep within Blaylon's throat.

His face had turned as pale as a sheet. It felt as though his heart had been maliciously licked by a demon. That was a true, genuine Omega level Awakened. And not just any Omega level but one with the extremely rare light-based combat attribute. She could annihilate an entire aircraft carrier battle group alone.

Judging by the woman's position among the five, she wasn't even the core member of the team. The worst-case scenario had finally come to pass. Great Xia didn't just possess Omega level Awakened. They had at least five of them.

Louis Fleur felt like he had fallen into an icy abyss. Even the seasoned and resolute officers behind him wore expressions of blank disbelief, unable to find any words. This wasn't the kind of battle they were trained to face.

The education they had received since childhood, the training they underwent in the military, the combat experience they had accumulated on the battlefield; all their knowledge and wisdom were meaningless in the face of such an enemy.

This was beyond their capability to understand, let alone resist. In the deathly silence that followed, Louis Fleur was the first to react, issuing a third command.

Retreat! All forces were to withdraw immediately.

The farther they got from Great Xia's territorial waters, the better. They didn't even have time to rescue the survivors aboard the sinking frigates and cruiser...

However—

"To receive and not return is impolite!" Hundreds of kilometers away, the man wreathed in crackling lightning finally spoke. His voice echoed clearly above the Yiggs carrier fleet like a rolling thunderstorm.

His words were accompanied by a terrifying surge of lightning. Violet-black lightning rained down from the heavens, piercing the ocean below and instantly transforming it into a domain of thunder and death.

The terrifying lightning coursed through the waves and struck the steel warships in an instant. A series of violent explosions, one after another, rang out from beneath the ocean surface, sending towering waves dozens of meters high into the air.

The submarines were the first to detonate as they were struck by the unleashed lightning. Then the rest of the warships, frigates, supply ships, even aircraft carriers...

All of them were engulfed in fireballs, burning and exploding madly. Nuclear reactors and munitions erupted with deafening roars, and crimson flames mixed with thick black smoke shot skyward.

In that moment, it was as if Satan himself had crawled out from the depths of hell, blanketing the region with his black, malevolent breath, bringing death, destruction, and a cruel mockery of life itself.

Whoosh!

A single figure shot into the sky. Blaylon, the Alpha level Awakened, had narrowly escaped death. He hovered in midair with the energy wings behind his back, his face filled with terror as he looked down upon the hellscape below...

He trembled uncontrollably. At that very moment, the live footage captured by spy satellites was broadcast to the upper echelons of nearly every major global power and faction. The world was shaken to its core. Human history was destined to be completely and irrevocably rewritten.
