Chapter 158: A Wicked Proposition.
This place could also be called the headquarters of his southern region gang.
The door suddenly opened and a random man with a solemn look quietly walked in. He could easily sense machetes displeasure which prompted him to pick his words wisely.
" Boss, I've informed them like you asked. They're on their way as we speak." said the man.
" Good!" Machete said. " They all better hurry here and explain to me how we were able to suffer such a huge loss in one night!" Machete yelled at the top of his lungs. He was simply overcome with rage because the warehouse Su Ping and the fat man destroyed, was used to stash valuable goods.
' Damnit! Those goods were very important. That idiot, Fredrick, was supposed to deliver them today. Now thanks to this incident, I have the enforcer knights crawling all over the place trying to trace it all back to me.'
' Bribing them won't work this time because the incident is too big to cover up. We need to come up with a way to wash our hands from this!' Machete thought to himself.
After waiting for some time, 3 people were standing in his office, each were gang members directly underneath him. Originally they were four but due to Fredrick's untimely demise, and the chaotic situation within the southern region, their numbers were reduced to 3.
Machete was seated behind his desk, his right fingers thrumming on his desk while he stared at the 3 of them. Nicholas, Lucas and Marcus.
Nicholas had dirty blonde hair and shifty eyes, and he was the gangs leading head in connections, business business matters and the like, basically, he was the brains behind the southern region gang.
Lucas was a man with unkept brunette hair, was the head of the gangs assassination unit, Incase some people refused to give in and need to be taken out.
And Marcus was a big bald headed man with bulging muscles. He was basically the front of the gang, in charge of leading most of the boys, training them and teaching them how to go about and "coerce" the commoner's within the city.
Fredrick before his passing used to be their leading escort group manager, in charge of transporting their "goods" in and out of the city and Machete was their boss and founder of the southern region gang.
" Can anyone of you, care to tell me how we're supposed to deal with this problem!"
" Boss, please calm down." Lucas said with a frown. " Fredrick was the one in charge of transporting those goods, not us. It's his fault this whole mess happened in the first place–"
Machete's office desk flew into Lucas before he could finish talking, sending him crashing through the wall and into the corridor.
" You bastard! You're telling me to calm down?! You bloody wanker! I don't care who's fault it is!" Machete gnashed his teeth, veins bulging on his forehead.
' This black bellied fool! I called him here to help think of a solution and he's here pointing fingers!' Machete couldn't believe his eyes, the people he called for help were turning out to be completely useless.
" One of you better fix this mess before I send you three to join that asshole! Fredrick!" Machete glared at the standing two, who were smart enough to shift from Lucas before hand.
" Boss, if I may, I think I have a suggestion that may be beneficial for us." Nicholas didn't seem flustered by the bosses outburst, his eyes calm as if he already expected much.
" Well then out with it! What is it you wanna say." Machete shouted yet his ear perked up, his heart hoping that this subordinate of his could actually solve the issue they had been facing.
" Did anyone of you recall that man from before who we discovered was trying to ruin our business just about yesterday?"
" Of course I remember that idiot, but how does this relate with what we're trying to cover up. Are you trying to say that he's the one behind all this." Machete's voice sounded irritated and impatient, he refused to believe that all that destruction could be caused by one man, after all, his minions had reported that the man came into the city with a woman and two children, not an entire battalion of mages.
Besides, he didn't think that just a few death knights would be capable of causing that level of devastation, it was simply unheard of. If not for that huge hole in the warehouse leading all the way down into the ground were they stored those goods, non of this would've happened.
" I'm not saying that he's responsible but, we might be able to use him to wash our hands off this incident." Nicholas revealed a cruel smile.
" Your saying we should blame the appearance on the goods on him?" Machete's eyes suddenly beamed.
" Hahaha, that's right boss, he's a necromancer, so it's possible for us to pin all those corpses below the warehouse, on him. Also, if I recall correctly. The same man tried using that unbelievable contract to steal our business."
" That makes it even easier, we can hire some people to spread gossip that he's been using that very contract to lure in unsuspecting victims from the city, to further his wicked studies hehehe." Nicholas chuckled lightly. Marcus who was next to him shook his head lightly.
" You forgot that he only arrived at the city yesterday, how are we supposed to pin this all on him when the proof is already at the city hall, the contracts date of creation will be there within their ledger's." Marcus said. Machete who heard him nodded his head lightly at the same time he felt disappointed.
" Boss, don't be down so soon. Who cares about the city hall, don't forget that we have some of our boys working amongst them. We can just have them change the ledger's and if some of the original workers prove difficult, who says we can't just grease up their hands a little to ease the transaction.
" There's no reason why they shouldn't accept, after all, a nobody from out of town no matter how wealthy he may seem, can't possibly do anything if he doesn't know about our deal. And even if he does know and seeks out the city hall, they won't be any concrete evidence to back his claim. No matter what anyone says, the enforcer knights won't be able to trace it back to us."
" And even if some people prove difficult, we can just increase rumours that this isn't his first time in town. From what I've heard, the bastard doesn't reveal his face so it's not Impossible to fabricate such a story."
" You blooming bastard hahahaha, Your're right! This could actually work!" Machete walked up to Nicholas and gave him a hardy pat on the back.
" Now this is what I wanted to see. Nicholas my boy, you've really done me proud." Machete chuckled.
" Hehehe, Thank you Boss." Nicholas laughed.
" But Boss, there's still one more incident we still haven't solved yet." Marcus suddenly spoke up, attracting Machete's interest.
' This walking wall of meat, must be always ruin my moment.' Nicholas's eyes flashed with displeasure.
" You're right Marcus... We still haven't found out who it was that attacked both camps last night." Machete furrowed his brows, his grey hair making his face look more gloomier.
" Boss, why not have Marcus go down with some boys to investigate. I'm sure he'd be the perfect man for the job." Nicholas suddenly spoke up with a smile.
" Oh?" Machete raised a brow perplexed before turning to glance at the muscular man. " Well Marcus, do you think you could do it? I know this isn't the type of work your used to but the gang really needs every able bodied person we can get during this chaotic situation."
" Boss there's no need to sugar coat it, I'm a gang member after all. Just leave it to me. I'll gather some boys and head down there soon enough."
" Good, I'm glad you understand." Machete smiled at Marcus. Out of all his direct subordinates, Marcus had been with him the longest, in a sense, he was Machete's right hand man who had built the gang with him from the very beginning, all the way to what it was now.
' This pesky pig doesn't know what he's getting himself into.' Nicholas's eyes squinted slightly, his lips creeping upwards ever do slightly.
' Before coming here, I already had some of my men check out the bar but they were all repelled... It was only after talking with the receptionist that I learned that the person behind these incidents had lay'd claim to the building...'
' You want to help the boss? Hahaha, I'm afraid you won't live to tell the tail. But in a way, your death will help me properly gauge the strength of this unknown person...so don't hold this against me Marcus, I'm just helping you fulfill your
role hahaha ' Nicholas laughed inwardly yet his face remained as calm as water on the outside.
