Chapter 156: Close your eyes and stop looking.
' Somewhere we'd be safe huh.' Melinda smiled at the thought.
" If only it were that easy." Melinda's smile turned regretful.
She carried Mel in her arms before placing her back in bed. " Goodnight my dear..." Melinda kissed Mel goodnight on her forehead before getting into bed next to her, soon falling asleep as well.
The room turned silent once more, except for the gentle breathing of the three in the room. The 5 death knights didn't make a sound to disturb the peaceful atmosphere, instead they seemed more like statue's standing in place without a sound.
A gentle draft suddenly blew in from the window before vanishing the next moment. Su Ping who had entered the room, stood by the bed, silently watching the three who slept soundly, his expression hard to describe.
After awhile of silence, he went to the other side of the bed and sat at the edge. He then pulled out the book he had gotten from Ranger.
[Necromancy: Vol 2 by One eyed Lich King]
Su Ping stared intently at the book, before opening it to read. He needed to understand everything written within it if he wished to increase his strength further.
The night soon passed and the morning sun rose into the sky. The early morning rays entered the room through the window, slowly creeping towards the bed before climbing onto Melinda's skin.
Melinda's face creased a little, it looked like her body was unwilling to wake up but she eyelashes soon began to flutter then slowly opened to reveal her eyes.
She yawned before sitting up on the edge of the bed. Melinda turned behind her, seeing Su Ping sleeping comfortably next to Mel and Sal, she was relieved, at the same time, a warm feeling enveloped her.
' Looks like he came back last night.' Melinda smiled. ' He doesn't reek of alcohol so where could he have possibly gone, yesterday?' She pursed her lips while thinking
Her eyes then landed on the 5 figures within the room. The Death Knights, as always, were still immobile, simply collecting dust in silence without complaint.
' I'll ask him when he wakes up. I don't know if he ate anything yesterday but I still need to make breakfast, maybe I'll even surprise him with a meal before he wakes up.' Melinda giggled lightly.
She then got up before entering a side door in the room, where she saw the bathroom.
A wooden tub was already there as well as an in-built latrine. Melinda first filled the tub with water, she then gently took off her clothes, revealing her supple milky white skin beneath before entering the tub.
'Ahhh... This feels better than I expected.' Melinda unconsciously moaned after getting into the bath, strangely, the cold water didn't displease her but actually felt comfortable even though it had been left out all night in the freezing air.
A bar of soap and a washing cloth was placed next to her at the edge of the tub but, she wanted to enjoy this feeling a little bit more.
' Maybe for 1 more minutes...' she said to herself but her ear twitched when she heard footsteps coming towards the bathroom. It wasn't light nor was it as heavy as the death knights.
" Mommy" Melinda smiled helplessly when she saw Mel and Sal walk into the bathroom, to think she wanted to enjoy a moment of relaxation. Knowing that the both of them were awake, she knew he would be as well.
Like Melinda expected, Su Ping walked into the bathroom the next moment yawning.
" Morning honey."
" Morning darling." Melinda replied back, she didn't turn flustered nor did she try to her body from him. She simply patted Mel and Sal who were at the edge of the tub. " Did you two sleep well." She asked Mel and Sal.
" Yes, mommy." Mel nodded with a grin.
" I had a fun dream mommy." Sal said while giggling. Mel and Sal nodded, the both of them energetic as always.
Su Ping smiled at the scene before heading out of the bathroom.
" Darling, where are you going..." Melinda suddenly called out to him, forcing Su Ping to come to a stop.
" Since your bathing, why don't the three of you bath together. I'll go downstairs and get us some food."
' Also, I should hurry up and sell all that food materials we got from the village. I can't just keep leaving them in the cart, they might spoil soon if not properly taken care of.'
" Honey, why don't you wait in bed until I'm done so I can go get it." Melinda said but inwardly she seemed upset. She wanted to be the one to serve him breakfast, it was even supposed to be a surprise.
" No, it's ok, there's no reason for you to worry about this. I won't be gone for long so just wait for me, ok." Su Ping said.
Melinda lips parted before closing as if she wanted to say something. " Ok darling..." Melinda eventually said.
' ...?' Su Ping felt like he heard her voice sounding sad just now but seeing her face that was all smiles, he blinked before turning around and leaving the bathroom.
' Maybe I misheard?' Su Ping said to himself. He changed into a new set of clothes, these ones lighter than his usual dark style before he opened the door and went downstairs.
" Good morning mas–" Su Ping hurriedly covered Annabel's mouth before glancing around at the people dinning in the inn hall.
' Good, looks like no one noticed.' Su Ping sighed with relief. His brows furrowed the next moment as he stared at the receptionist.
" Whenever we're around others, you must never call me that." Su Ping said, looking annoyed.
' I completely forgot I warped her mind yesterday...' Su Ping let out a breath.
" Then what should I call you?" Annabel tilted her head slightly, curious as to what he wanted.
" Just call me Mr Su. Nothing more, nothing less."
" Ok, Mr Su." Annabel nodded her head, acting like a follower who'd received a revelation from their god.
Su Ping merely shook his head, sighing before placing something on the counter.
" Here, take it. I no longer have any use for it."
Annabel saw it was the spare key to the inn she had given him last night. She nodded before taking it, placing it in between her bossom.
'...Is that where she usually keeps it or is this because of the effects of the permanent illusion.' Su Ping looked at the girl with a strange expression.
" Is there anything else you would like, Mr Su." She asked with a smile, Su Ping retrieved a bronze coin from his pocket before placing it on the counter. " Have someone get me a full meal set fit for 5."
" Of course Mr Su, would you like it personally brought to your room." Annabel said, her eager eyes betraying her calm self.
" No... Just have them get it for me, I'll be waiting here so I'd like you to hurry." Su Ping said, dismissing her interests.
Annabel nodded before having one of the inn's staff to come and see to Su Pings order, soon he was handed a tray of food. Annabel asked if he needed anything else but he dismissed her, heading upstairs and back to his room.
The moment he entered, he saw Melinda, Mel and Sal all seated by the bed.
" Your back."
" Mommy, daddy brought food."
" It looks so yummy." Mel and Sal scampered over to Su Ping making the man chuckle.
" Hey, not so fast. There's no need to rush, daddy made sure to bring enough for everyone." Su Ping said before dropping the tray on the bed. The room didn't have that big of a space to house much furniture and the death knights were already taking a huge amount of space so the family of four ate with relish, atop the bed.
The extra portion of food was split amongst the three of them by Su Ping.
" Darling are you sure, I'm not hungry so why don't you eat it." Melinda said, clearly, she wanted him to have her extra portion.
" Stop being stubborn and just eat." Su Ping silenced her complaints with a kiss to the lip's.
Mel blinked at the sight, not expecting her parents to behave so intimately but. " Hey, what are you doing." Her brothers hands suddenly covered her eyes.
" Y-You shouldn't look." Sal said while also closing his eyes.
" But you're looking." Mel pouted but her brother didn't let her peak.
When they parted, he had already given her the extra portion. " You shouldn't worry about me, I had quite the serving last night." Su Ping said with a jolly laugh.
Melinda stared at him, still doubtful but seeing no traces of lies on his face, she then shifted her gaze towards the meal before quietly eating.
" Sal, you can let go of your sister now." Su Ping said, trying to stifle a laugh.
