SSS-Knight in a Hero World

Chapter 59: Pre-preparations

After finishing his meal, Ferris walked back to Fixer's house, aiming to retrieve his bone sword.

Lionheart told me to meet up at the entrance gate, I should hurry.

Knowing that, Ferris eased a bit of the restrictions of his body and allowed his essence to flow more freely.

Weaving through the busy crowd became extremely easy, and he arrived at his destination in no time.

As he opened the door to the interior, he was greeted by an unexpected visitor.

Judas, who looked to be well, was standing near Fixer as he held the bone sword he created.

I was about to look for him before meeting Lionheart, but it looks like I don't need to. Ferris smiled deeply and greeted.

Though, there was a lingering feeling he couldn't bottle down.

He knew what really happened to Judas.

A dead man.

A puppet.

Or just simply a corpse, whose body had been mutilated by two foreign souls.

. . .

Wait, doesn't that apply to my case as well?

Ferris closed his eyes and banished such thoughts from his head. What mattered to him now was that Judas was alive, as such Ferris fulfilled his vow to never let a comrade die again.

"I'm glad you're fine," Ferris said. "What are you doing?"

At the sight of him, Judas's face brightened. He handed the bone sword over with a sheepish smile.

"I was just looking at this," he admitted, scratching the back of his head with a weak laugh. "At first, I was aware of everything. But after gathering more people... I guess it felt like a dream. I don't even remember creating this sword."

He doesn't remember? Ferris thought but thinking further, it made sense.

So his mind must've really been fractured and yet...

Ferris felt something deep inside of him, a feeling that he lacked ever since entering this world.

Despite such a mental state, Judas was still able to utter Ferris's name and effectively use the target's blessing to create a new weapon for his comrade.

Such degree of loyalty could only be measured by shedded blood.

This is what Ferris considers as camaraderie!

"I didn't say thank you for this," Ferris said, holding the bone sword like a cherished heirloom.

"Don't mention it," Judas answered, a little confused but otherwise happy.

Ferris inspected the straight blade again and immediately caught something off.

The shape is much cleaner, the hilt has been reshaped and it's shinier as well.

At a glance, no one would even think this weapon had been forged from bone.

Not to mention, it's passively taking my essence and forming its own sword essence.

Ferris remembered the swords of his world.

There were the standard swords, simply forged and sharpened. Ready for use by anyone.

And then there was the next level.

Specialized swords for channeling the user's essence, making the formation of sword essence much more efficient and easy to use.

Although they didn't compare to the pure essence sword manifestation formed by low layer knights, or the dragon blade swords in his old world.

These specialized swords were the golden standard of any knight who could afford it.

Ferris was bewildered at his new weapon, that he almost forgot to thank a certain someone—

"Where's my thanks! Excuse me?" Fixer was flabbergasted at such ungratefulness.

Hearing this, Ferris snapped back to reality and immediately thanked her.

"Thank you Miss Fixer, but how did you make this?" Ferris asked. He knew that her blessing was related to fixing, but he didn't remember it being for upgrading as well.

Hearing his thanks, Fixer calmed herself down and began explaining the details of her blessing.

Fixer.

Blessing:

Fixing

As the name implied, her blessing "fixed."

But her methods were... morally questionable. The only way she could trigger it was through damage which acted as the switch.

Shooting a nail gun on someone's head to make them sober, sawing someone's wrist to seal a wound, etc.

Need help but they're too far away? Snipe the target in the head.Too many injured heroes at once? Make an explosion and fix them afterward.

Fortunately, the pain can be avoided if the target is under deep sleep or anesthesia.

As Fixer rambled about the mechanics of her blessing, Ferris couldn't decide whether to call her a saint or a bringer of death.

After the general explanation, Fixer went on to how she upgraded his sword.

This was the only time Fixer would use her essence to a large enough degree that it could drain her.

In order for the upgrade fix to occur, Fixer must do her usual routine of inflicting damage. However, this time another person must hold the material, and think.

How should Fixer upgrade this?

Once the person envisioned the upgrade, Fixer would damage the material, and her blessing would respond by stripping away the unnecessary parts while shaping in the needed ones.

Just like her normal ability, this upgrade could be applied to both the animate and the inanimate.

What a terrifying blessing, is there a limit to it?

What if she could directly upgrade someone?

Or even change their physical states.

Ferris thought of a crazy theory, could she upgrade me all the way to the 1st layer?

. . .

No... Her upgrade fix only uses her essence, so there's no way she could turn someone into an actual god of war.

But regardless.

I'm sorry mister bartender, but she takes top place.

After dismissing his thoughts, Ferris returned to the present but thought of another thing.

'The person must think, how should fixer upgrade this?'

In this case, Ferris assumed the person was Judas.

A warm and cold feeling coursed through his heart.

Unbelievable... At this rate, can I really call myself a knight anymore?

The knight's creed.

A knight must accept all reasonable forms of rewards with gratitude.

Ferris kneeled on one of his legs, placing his fist on his chest and tapping the tip of his sword to the ground on the other.

"Both of you honor me with your generosity, I will repay it in the future."

. . .

Fixer and Judas froze at the sight, clearly shocked and disturbed.

After a while of silence, Fixer leaned to Judas.

"Hey, I think your friend's fucking insane..." she whispered.

Judas stayed silent throughout the entire kneeling of Ferris but it quickly broke when he heard Fixer's whispers.

Judas held it in, but he couldn't help but start laughing at the situation.

There's no turning back from this... isn't there... Ferris lampooned silently, not breaking his position for a full 5 seconds, since it was the required minimum time by the creed.

After finishing his showing of gratitude, Ferris said his last regards, and told Judas what he was about to do. But of course there was a heated reaction

"Are you crazy, going alone?" Judas yelled. "It was crazy enough for both of us to come to the water park, but alone in their main base?"

"Relax, us being snuffed out was a stroke of bad luck. It's not like it can happen a second time."

Seeing and hearing Ferris's nonchalance made Judas worry

.

"If that's the case then I'll come—

"Absolutely not," Ferris bluntly said to him.

"The characteristics of your blessing are too dangerous for you, so just stay here and rest."

After that, Ferris bowed slightly before turning around to the exit.

Judas was left speechless but it wasn't the case for Fixer.

"He lost an arm yesterday and he's telling you to rest?" She looked at Judas with a smug look. "If anything, he's an insane moron."

"If he comes back injured again, I'll just nail him on a cross."

Hearing what she said, Judas snapped back at Fixer with a hard look.

***

It didn't take Ferris long to reach the entrance. There, he spotted Lionheart, a few of the familiar bodyguards, and a strange person with equally strange clothes.

An official hero? Ferris thought, slowing his steps as he drew close enough to take a better look.

His eyes flicked around the area. Aside from them, the only thing that stood out was a mountain bike leaning nearby. Nothing else.

"You're here, I'll introduce you to this hero." Lionheart skipped the greetings and went straight to the briefing.

"This is the C-class hero, Tailoring Swift. Since the villains already know what you look like, he's going to give you a makeover."

A makeover? Ferris glanced at Tailoring Swift. The hero was wearing quite the colorful costume with an unnecessary amount of frills and curves.

The hero smiled at Ferris, "Hey handsome~ We can't keep the villains waiting, so don't resist~"

Tailoring Swift stepped closer to Ferris, arms spread wide as if the hero was about to pounce on him and do all sorts of things.

So creepy!

"Just think what you want to look like, I'll adjust~" the hero said, and in an instant, strings appeared on the tip of his fingertips.

They quickly latched onto Ferris, immobilizing him like an invisible net.

Resonance? Ferris felt it clearly, but he chose to embrace it.

He then thought of what he wanted to look like, then closed his eyes as the strings continued to wrap around him as if he was becoming a mummy.

Meanwhile, his mind went off to another topic.

When Lionheart froze me, I didn't feel any attempts of resonance, but for Zipper Man and Tailoring Swift, I felt it.

Could certain blessings have a sure-hit effect?

I should keep that in mind.
