SSS-Knight in a Hero World

Chapter 51: I'm here

Giving up now would be a loser's way of thinking.

Assuming that Miss Evening's blessing allowed her to always hit her target, then so be it.

Ferris's right arm was rendered useless due to overcharging it with essence, so that was the perfect sacrifice.

At the last second, Ferris would dodge and intentionally take the hit with his right arm!

As the golden string curved back down, it began going through every single villain that Judas was controlling.

Expecting messy carnage to unfold before him, he was surprised when it only left a tiny hole in their bodies as if it simply phased through.

One by one, they dropped like flies as the bullet went through each and every one of them.

Its agility was also nothing to scoff at, although he only saw it curve gracefully, he could also imagine it changing directions in a flash, just like the bullet before which avoided his sword by going around it.

But that didn't matter in the end.

Now! Ferris weaved, placing his right arm in the direct path of the morning blast.

Flash!

Boom!

He flinched from the sudden light, one second he saw his right arm intact, then the next it was completely gone.

It happened so fast that his pain nerves didn't even reach his brain, let alone register.

It went through the villains and did nothing, but when it hit me... Ferris, even after losing his right arm, was still figuring out what Evening's blessing was.

He glanced at his wound, finding that it had a layer of burnt flesh.

A heat-based attack, maybe it's that?

It was no wonder that there wasn't a mess of Ferris's blood everywhere, his right arm practically evaporated like water.

At least my charred flesh acts like a bandage, I won't lose too much blood in a short period of time.

Ferris sighed inwardly, steadying himself, then shifted his gaze to Miss Evening who looked absolutely stunned by his actions.

Then, he instinctively squeezed his left hand as if he was holding a sword.

Thankfully I'm ambidextrous, but unfortunately I don't have a sword—

"F-fe-fe-ris" a broken voice called out to him.

Such a harsh speech shook him up, turning around he saw one of the villains twitching and foaming.

Is Judas controlling this one? Ferris made a concerned expression as the zombie-looking villain inched closer and closer.

After a while, the villain stopped walking.

Raising their hand, they activated their blessing, causing it to unfurl in a grotesque display.

The bones of their entire arm and the shoulder connected to that arm shifted, contorting themselves in odd shapes, extending, retracting, and twisting.

Until a crude blade similar to the previous one bloomed on their arm. Then they ripped the sword out with their other hand and handed it over to Ferris. "He… he… he… he…"

Is Judas... trying to say "here"? Ferris pinched the handle of the sword, fortunately it wasn't wet. It was as dry as a bone.

I guess it's a single-sided blade, but it's not curved... He inspected the quality, it wasn't better than his old sword, but neither was it a bad one.

Satisfied, Ferris flourished it with his left arm and faced Miss Evening.

"You're smart aren't ya? You gambled that my bullet won't stop until it hits you, so you sacrificed your arm," Evening praised the knight, walking closer.

. . .

With no reply, Miss Evening's smile dropped a little then shot back up again. "Second time's the charm, that's what they say, right?"

I doubt that, there's no way you have enough to charge another shot. Ferris sneered inside.

Not a single second was wasted, as Ferris dashed to her position.

Even if Miss Evening could fire another shot like that, Ferris would still do the same thing.

There was no way he could constantly dodge a flying and turning bullet that kept tracking him, the only thing he should do now was finish off the villain.

Miss Evening became surprised at his boldness, "Thought you'd believe me there," she said, before grabbing one of the villains that survived her attack and holding them as a hostage.

But that didn't deter Ferris one bit, rather he was more curious about the state of the villains.

The infighting had noticeably ceased, and the majority of the villains were simply standing still. As seen when Evening easily snatched one of them without any effort.

Knowing how Judas's blessing works, controlling that many people at once would take a severe toll on his mind.

I have to finish this quickly.

But...

Should I ignore that hostage, what would happen if I kill him?

Would I kill a part of Judas?

There was less than a second to decide what to do, and Ferris chose quickly.

If Judas had the courage to take two bullet shots for him, then this much would be fine.

Stab!

The bone blade went through the villain's head, and out the other.

This shocked Miss Evening, but she still dodged by a hair's breadth.

She shot some quick fires before retreating back.

But since they were her relatively normal shots, Ferris could dodge and block them. It was only the golden-colored bullets he had to worry about.

Before Evening could grab another hostage, Ferris was already in front of her.

He threw his sword in the air for a split second, distracting Evening's gaze when she looked at his sword in the air.

Then, she the Miss a mean hook, causing her to spit blood.

Indeed, after losing his right arm, Ferris's pride took a hit. So he had to get it back one way or another.

A knight's pride is not something to be trifled with.

That was the creed for anyone foolish enough to face off against a knight such as himself.

Ferris grabbed his falling sword and prepared to slice her head off while she was still looking away due to his punch.

Clap.

Slice!

"!!?" Ferris became shocked, as Evening suddenly disappeared from his sight before reappearing further away with a bulky man holding on to her. What the hell?

But he wasn't given a chance to think about what happened.

He noticed a large presence in the air.

A shadow in the sky.

A dragon?...

No. It lacked the characteristics of it.

It was similar to that of a wyvern, an animal instead of an intelligent being.

That wyvern seemingly shrunk midair, and the one big shadow became many, around a few shadows.

It wasn't clear what it was at first, but he soon realized that they were humans.

They somehow slowed their descent down with the use of a mysterious blessing. Eventually, they stood side by side with Miss Evening.

Great, she got backup...

"Huh? Who the heck are you folks?" Evening looked around, breaking off from the bulky man's clutches.

Never mind... But still.

Ferris readied his stance.

Most of them felt weaker than Evening, the only ones he couldn't really be sure of were...

Amongst the small group, there was a girl with some scales on her skin, a small horn, a tail, and a pair of wings. Then there was that bulky man that saved Miss Evening.

Those two looked to be the strongest. As for the rest, they didn't seem to stand out in front of his eyes.

These guys must be the elite amongst the newbies.

Ferris considered his options. Although he had a decent shot at each of them, there was no way he could solo them all.

Perhaps if Judas abandoned some of his vessels, he could regain better control and help Ferris using less villain vessels.

But that didn't seem to be the case, the other villains became motionless moments ago.

He worried that Judas might've pushed his blessing too much, and he had lost control, finding himself in a limbo where he couldn't disconnect from the vessel.

"We got sent here by Lilith to deal with the heroes, but it's just some guy?" the wyvern girl said, looking disappointed. "I will never understand the idea of bringing heroes to this city, it just makes this shitty place feel more shitty."

. . .

Should I book it? I have no idea where Judas is though... Ferris ignored the girl, focusing on his own mind.

Or should I fight?.. No, I'll just die.

I can't leave Judas behind.

I can't fight them either.

. . .

But I can buy just a bit more time...

Flash!

A light appeared above Ferris's head.

From that light, a translucent paper descended onto his hands.

The group of villains were thrown off by this, even Ferris.

{Sorry for replying to you like this, but I'm minutes away!}

Yes, finally! Ferris screamed inside.

He sighed and clapped his hands to summon the glowing quill. Then he smirked, "It was a big mistake coming within 5 meters around me!" he confidently announced to them.

"With this blessing of mine, I could write it so that you all die of heart attack." Ferris began writing some doodles, but that was enough for the villain group to back off and maintain their guard.

I can't believe they fell for that...

"What, wow no way! I didn't know you could do that!" Evening clasped her cheeks and screamed in an exaggerated way, solidifying his blessing's authenticity.

Is she serious, or is she helping me? Ferris was just as confused as the villains.

He began writing, "Any person that comes within 5 meters of me will black out and die." Ferris warned.

{Come quickly!}

Ferris did a stylish flourish and released the grip on the translucent paper.

As usual, it went up into the air and disappeared.

"Now, who dares to approach my field of death?" Ferris drew his sword towards them, acting as tough as possible.

Miss Evening slightly closed her eyes in suspicion before suddenly firing a shot at him.

Since it was a normal shot, Ferris blocked it with his sword. But it was noticeably more difficult because of his lack of an arm.

The wyvern girl looked at Evening and decided to follow her lead.

In an instant, she blew out a sharp stream of hellfire. There was no buildup to it, but despite that, it felt stronger than Miss Evening's special attack.

Perhaps he could dodge this one since it didn't have the unique tracking ability of Evening's projectiles, but it was simply too fast.

Desperate, Ferris hunched, reinforcing his skin with essence and keeping his head safe with his arms.

But the blast didn't hit him. Instead, it hit something else, causing a screech similar to two plates of metal rubbing against each other.

Ferris compared this feeling to the same one he felt when Prodigy Prince defended him from the aberrant's dragon breath like attack.

He looked to see who it was, unsurprisingly.

Queen Elizabeth was standing in front of him, defending him from that fire breath.
