SSS-Knight in a Hero World

Chapter 47: knight Vs assassin

In an instant, she closed the distance.

A gunner would prefer to shoot from a distance, but in the case of Miss Evening, she preferred to handle things in a more personal way.

In that moment, Ferris knew that he wasn't having the speed advantage for this fight as he couldn't even react fast enough to her coming up right in front of him.

He froze as the cold touch of steel pressed beneath his chin. Evening had tilted her wrist just so, the barrel of her gun digging against his jawline.

He also saw Evening's bright smile and eyes, but strangely they were not similar to those degenerates that enjoy killing.

Rather, Evening's gaze was full of determination and purpose.

Miss Evening slightly squeezed the trigger and said her last words to Ferris, "Goodbye~"

Slap!

To both Evening's and Ferris' shock, Judas suddenly slapped Evening's face and squeezed it.

"Hu-hwah?" Evening's eyes went glassy, her stance began to waver.

Judas also mirrored the same instability, his gaze locked onto hers.

But he remained focused, whilst Evening was becoming more and more dazed.

She began to see herself in Judas' perspective, and likewise, Judas began to see himself in Evening's perspective.

To Ferris, however, the sight was far more strange, the two stood stiff, twitching every so often and their lips slipping nonsense as though their voices were tangled between two minds.

Ferris had a feeling that if he interrupted them, something bad would happen.

he could only watch as Miss Evening used all of her willpower to shove Judas's hand away.

Staggering backwards, she maniacally chuckled while she rubbed the spot on her cheek where Judas once touched her. "Haha... what did you do to me—

Ferris took his chance. Now's the time!

Before she could even finish her sentence, Ferris delivered a heavy frontal kick, causing her to shoot off into the many food trucks that surrounded Fixer's house.

There was only a trail of dust that was left behind by her trajectory.

For now, Evening should be out of the picture.

And just to make sure they were safe, Ferris grabbed the dazed Judas and took him behind one of the food trucks for cover.

"You alright?" Ferris lightly slapped his friend to see if he was still even alive.

"Uh- y-yeah, no... yes..." Judas groaned.

Ferris could see Judas' eyes twitching a bit, moving erratically in different directions.

He had another slight feeling that Judas hadn't really told him the full extent of his blessing ability.

But this wasn't the time to get caught up.

Ferris sighed internally. They were now the ones caught in a surprise attack.

For a second, Ferris imagined his 2nd old teacher, Alaric, materializing in some random corner, ready to scold him for every flaw in his character.

"Judas!" Ferris shouted. He was almost about to slap him harder if he didn't wake up properly.

Thankfully for Judas, his eyes cleared and he straightened with a jolt. "I'm awake!"

"What happened back there, what did you do to Evening?" Ferris quickly asked.

Judas straightened his back and tightly closed his eyes multiple times. "It's... rather complicated," he weakly answered.

Before Ferris could open his mouth to reply, he heard a loud bang from the distance.

Ferris took a sneak peek, and he saw that a small flare was shot up in the air, right where Miss Evening should've been.

She's signaling the other villains.

That's not good. Ferris stood up and grabbed Judas's wrist.

They weaved through the messy arrangement of food trucks and various carnival like attractions that weren't even related to the waterpark.

Despite that, Ferris found a place in his heart to appreciate the degraded creativity of the people behind this waterpark.

But unlike his heart, Ferris couldn't find the exit.

I'm lost... Ferris admitted that much. Running in a straight line was probably the only thing they could do.

"There's the exit!" Judas pointed at a large signage that read, 'Pool Party!'

Ferris widened his eyes, but quickly shut them back down as he realized that it wasn't the true exit he was looking for.

The pool party only led to a wide and open area. It wasn't an ideal arena to fight Evening in, and also...

A dark figure ran in front of the entrance to the pool party and shouted, "There they are!"

Another came through. "I see them, the heroes!" they shouted in anger.

"Gimme their fingers!" a weird one appeared also.

But it wasn't only three of them, there were dozens of villains that started piling up just beyond the gate.

"Already?" Ferris exclaimed. He thought about what to do next, but his instincts and senses suddenly kicked in at the right time.

Ferris grabbed his friend's collar and pulled him under to another cover. This time, a fountain.

After that happened, Ferris heard two whizzes that crackled the air above them as they found their mark on two of the many villains.

This caused the entire group to suddenly halt on their way to Ferris and Judas.

Now that was something that caught Ferris's attention.

He assumed the trajectory of those bullets to be their heads, but he wondered why Miss Evening cared so little about the safety of other villains.

You'd have to be a real villain to do that.

Is she just crazy? Ferris foolishly questioned as he stuck his hand out from the cover for a split second before retreating it back.

Surprisingly, a single shot was fired almost immediately at where his hand used to be.

But since Evening was a bit too late on her trigger, the bullet simply went over Ferris, causing it to hit the floor and ricochet off to an unfortunate villain's head.

The third villain that died to friendly fire was the last straw.

"Fuck! Stop shooting at us, you moron!" someone screamed at Miss Evening.

Another one soon agreed with the screaming villain. "I've always hated that cowgirl bitch, let's kill her!"

"She also stole my drink more than once!"

Ferris heard their cries and anger, for some reason it felt like music to his ears.

Suddenly, it seemed as if half of the villains were now hell-bent on murdering the team killer.

That was now one-third of Ferris's problem gone.

There was still the other half of the villains who, just like Evening, didn't give an ounce of pity to their own comrades, and of course Miss Evening herself.

Ferris was certain that most of the villains wouldn't even come close to killing Evening. At best, they'd only slow her down. But he was just as sure that it would take her at least a full minute to shoot through all of them.

That brief window was their only chance to slip away.

They're coming this way. Ferris saw that the dozens of villains were once again making their move towards them and Evening.

Tapping Judas's shoulder, Ferris told him what needed to be done. "We'll run away while Evening is distracted—

Slam!

Like a sudden rainstorm, Miss Evening appeared from above and landed on the rim of the fountain, right on top of Ferris and Judas.

She looked over the two heroes. Despite her shadowed face, they could see the glow in her green eyes.

"Howdy!"
