SSS Cosmic Policing System: Overpowered Cop's Odyssey

Chapter 103: Lux's Reinforcement

Ashley was the strongest Captain of the Cosmic Police Force.

When it came to raw stats and level, she surpassed everyone by far. As the bearer of the Order of Double, it was a given.

Honestly, if not for her order being of the second-class category, she should have been reaching god-level heights by now.

But unfortunately, her blessings on doubled levels and stats each had a limit.

So as of now, Ashley was one of, if not the only, level 99 hunter in Arcana.

She couldn't progress further, as she had reached a crucial juncture called End of Talent.

At this progression, all her stats stagnated at 999 and her level at 99.

And with such immense strength, never did she believe she would perceive such stifling premonitions.

Whoever those figures were that had just arrived — they were critically dangerous.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk… To think the great Lux would end up being trashed so badly as this." An amused voice rang out as the distant silhouettes grew clearer.

Two men and a lady…

Spearheading the three was a slender-looking lady, her face obscured by a dark purple veil, her robes clinging tight to her body, outlining her vase-like figure.

Each step she took was as silent as it was ominous. It was as though her figure was coated in a blurry haze — one couldn't really tell where she was or how fast she was moving.

She was the seclusive Lord, a fearsome figure whose territory was a dead man's zone. No one was allowed to enter, and those who did never exited. She was known as Alstera.

Then there were the men. On the left was a man with flowing deep green hair, a matching color to his eyes.

He was draped in a dark pulsing coat, dripping with sizzling corrosive liquid. Each step he took left a blackened footprint in his wake.

He was known as the Poison King, Lord Merkan — the man who brought a plague from Earth to Arcana, the man who brought back hard drugs to humanity in Arcana.

And on the right, a man with short, rough crimson hair, his eyes lightlessly dark, his presence sinister as the air around him was choked with the pungent stench of blood.

He was shirtless, the only clothing on him a leathery trouser. On his lips, a sinister smirk — he was the origin of the voice just now.

The sinister and most feared — not because of his power, but because of his order and what it made him. He was Haron, bearer of the Order of Slaughter.

These three were also prominent Lords who were part of Lux's circle.

Lux struggled to his feet, dusting his armor, his face warping into an ugly scowl.

"Are you guys the only ones that came?"

Merkan's brows raised disdainfully as he scoffed.

"Aren't we more than enough? It's just one Lord, right? How much of a threat can he be?"

Lana coughed from the side as she stood, supporting herself with her hammer.

"Just a Lord, you moron? You'd have to get past these guys to be able to claim that."

Haron's dead eyes scanned both captains and guards, his frown deepening.

"You guys were struggling against hunters?"

His nose scrunched up in disgust as he spat.

"You are all a disgrace to the image of Lords."

The veiled lady, Lord Alstera, turned her head toward Haron.

"Quiet! We all know how formidable these three are. We best not let down our guards."

She scolded the Lords' disdainful attitudes, and the other two forced a wry smile, nodding to her words. And just like that, the hierarchy was made clear.

Then Alstera straightened her gaze toward Ashley, her melodious voice ringing soothing and pleasant to the ears.

"Forgive us for the rudeness displayed so far, I apologize. Would it be possible for us to meet with your Lord?

I promise we have no ill intentions. We only come to propose an alliance."

Alstera's words caused Lux's expression to turn ugly. He had called them here to wage war and conquer this land.

He called them here because he foresaw he would be needing reinforcements — not for them to come and change his agenda.

His expression shifted erratically, but he decided to keep mute. Not out of fear or subservience, but because it was clear he and the other two wouldn't be enough to achieve his goals.

Not to mention his cavalry — calling them to attack would be the same as sentencing them all to their deaths.

Glancing at the humming machine turrets and laser systems on the protective dome, his eyes twitched as he could already foresee the outcome of a full-on assault.

Ashley's expression remained stoic, her amber pupils meeting the amethyst eyes of Alstera peeking from the slits of her veil.

Her voice was solid.

"I'm sorry, but that wouldn't be possible. But if you really are not here to antagonize us, we would give you all a chance to retreat."

All six Lords became stunned.

Was this for real? These guys were a bunch of hunters before prominent Lords, and they still dared act so haughty — even having the gall to use the term retreat.

They were all fearsome individuals that even some Lords would have to bow their heads before. And these hunters really dared tell them to retreat?

Alstera's gaze turned cold, the other two behind her wearing sinister smiles.

"The door to heaven was wide open, yet you decided to hop the fence to hell." Merkan chuckled sinisterly.

Alstera nodded.

"I see confrontation it is then. You see, we cannot let an unknown force like yours run unimpeded. Forgive us, but we will have to knock you all down a peg or two."

Ashley nodded.

"Likewise, we can't let a bunch of nobodies run rampant in our lands. Sorry, but we will have to be making an example out of you."

Ashley's fair arms raised. From behind her, all the soldiers stood upright, taking their arms and simultaneously taking aim.

Buzzing sounds rang out as the defense system of Aegis began charging.

"Hmph! Futile… Larry, do the honors." Alstera called.

Larry's eyes brightened as he laughed menacingly.

"My time to shine."

Ashley frowned but swerved her wrist forward, signaling the guards to unleash fire.

Rapid fire rang out as the turrets spat out reinforced plus-sized calibers, laser beams steaming with violent intensity.

They planted their feet firmly to the ground as rounds of fire were pumped out from myriad muzzles.

But… Ashley frowned, raising her hand back, commanding a halt.

Throughout the fire, the bullets swerved out of aim, going out of control, missing their targets. Even laser beams weren't exempt.

"Sigh… this would be a problem," Lionel commented as he saw the unscathed Lords.

Ashley was just about to speak when the void trembled and a figure appeared before her.

Her pupils constricted as she gazed at the naked back of the familiar figure.
