Chapter 681: Don't corrupt my innocent son
"Dad… are you jealous?" Damon stared at his father in disbelief. Of all the things to be worried about, this is your concern? But Damon's father was dead serious. He squinted at his wife like a rival competitor in a PVP arena.
"Jealous?!" His father scoffed loudly, then immediately lowered his voice when Damon's mother glanced over. "No. I'm concerned. Your mother is becoming… strong. Too strong."
Damon pinched the bridge of his nose. "If you want… I can help you tame some beasts later. They will be weird, but they will be strong." He only barely finished his words when suddenly Erin, Ellora, Mallana, and Sylvara rushed to his father.
"My Lord's father, please wait!" Erin bowed deeply. "If you wish to tame a beast, I will accompany you."
Ellora stepped forward immediately. "No. I will accompany the Lord's father. My skill set is better suited to escort him."
Mallana, the merwoman, had rushed forward, but it looked like she had lost her nerves after that and did not really say much. "I can… also… help." She finally managed to squeak.
Sylvara also seemed to hesitate to speak, which was very unusual for the Ice Queen. "I am Damon's friend… Sylvara. I can also help you, Father."
Damon's father froze like a deer in headlights. The four women looked at him, eyes gleaming with the utmost sincerity.
"Please allow us to assist you."
"Yes, Lord Father."
"We will secure you only the highest-quality beast."
"You will not suffer even a scratch."
"I… aha ha… maybe later…" Damon's father awkwardly smiled and excused himself from the circle of women.
Damon walked over to him, raising his brow. "What happened, Dad? Didn't you want some attention like Mom? See, my friends are willing to help you too. You can get your levels up fast if that's what you want."
Unexpectedly, Damon's father turned and glared daggers at him. Not gratitude. Not relief. Pure, twitching jealousy.
"Attention?!" he hissed, jabbing a thumb over his shoulder at the four stunningly beautiful women standing around.
"Son, tell me. How did you do it? How did you get them all to coexist? Son, how did you get these amazing women to accept each other? How are they allowing you to have a relationship like this? Tell me the truth. Are all the women here your wives or girlfriends or whatever?"
His father leaned in, voice cracking under the weight of curiosity, envy, and emotional damage.
"Because I must know, son! Tell me the truth. Are all these women…" he flailed an arm dramatically toward Aurora, Kate, Lirae, Sylvara, Erin, Ellora, Mallana, and even poor Arya, minding her own business… "your wives? Girlfriends? Lovers? Devotees? Cult members? What are they? How did you manage to achieve something like this?"
Every woman within earshot paused.
Damon choked on his own saliva. "Dad-"
"Son," his father continued gravely, "I barely survived a marriage with one strong woman. One. And half my hair turned white before its time." He jabbed a finger toward Damon's mother. "Your mother once chased me with a broom for four blocks because I forgot her birthday."
"Dad, please-"
"But you," his father continued, voice trembling with emotion, "you… have achieved a miracle. All these women look at you like you are their God!" He grabbed Damon's arm. "Tell me, how? Was it bribery? Did you give them a lot of gifts? Did you drug them? Did you find a pill or potion in the game with a special effect? I am not saying it's wrong. If you did, you can just share the details-"
"WHAT?! No!!" Damon sputtered.
"Then how?" his father demanded. "Look at them! They're slicing monsters and praising your mother in harmony! They're complimenting each other's knife skills! Do you know how rare that is? Your mother and your aunt once argued for three months over who made a better roast!"
Damon covered his face with both hands. "Dad, please stop talking."
His father leaned closer, voice dropping to a whisper thick with envy. "Son… tell me the truth… do you do something special in the bedroom department-"
Damon's expression flattened. "Alright. That's enough. I'm going to pretend I didn't hear any of that."
"I am not asking for me, son. I am asking for your brother. That poor guy is roaming around like some walking dead. Can't you help him out a little? Get him a girlfriend or two?"
"There! Look at him. He's fishing calmly, and there is still no smile on his face. How can a man look stressed while fishing?!"
Damon covered his ears again. "Dad, I can't… I really can't…"
Thankfully, before his father could cross any more lines, his mother walked over with a suspicious look on her face. "What are you badgering my son about, you old man?
Damon's father jolted like someone had thrown a lightning bolt at his spine. His entire bravado evaporated in an instant. "N-Nothing! Absolutely nothing!" he said, far too quickly, straightening his back like a soldier caught doing crimes. "Just… father and son bonding! Very normal! Nothing inappropriate!"
"Please stop talking," Damon muttered through his teeth.
His mother crossed her arms. "Old man, if I hear you corrupting my innocent son with nonsense, I will beat you with a ladle."
His father smiled bitterly. "Who is corrupting whom? Woman, are your eyes blind? Can't you see what your son is doing?"
Damon's mother, however, simply scoffed and ignored him. She then turned to Damon with a sweet smile.
"Oh, and Damon dear, lunch will be ready soon. The girls are learning very well. All three of them are adorable and very, very sweet. They're such hard workers. And polite! And talented! Honestly, Damon, I'm impressed. You brought home three perfect daughters. I'm so proud of you." She patted his cheek lovingly and walked away.
What the hell? She is fine with it? Just like that? Damon's father looked as if he was going to burst into tears from the emotional damage.
Damon could only smile in response. Even he did not expect this. At the end of the day, it didn't take much to please his mom. Just power-leveling cooking skills? Or whatever the three of them did!
Soon, the food was ready, and everyone gathered around to enjoy a meal together. So many dishes were laid out, and their aroma was tantalizing. "Everyone, eat before it cools down," Damon's mother said warmly.
Everyone dug in quickly. No one needed to be told twice. The food was amazing, and the platters quickly started to look emptier and emptier. Naturally, Aurora, Kate, and Lirae, all three sat around Damon and fed him one dish after another. Damon didn't even get the chance to lift his own hand and eat something.
Damon's mom smiled heartwarmingly at the scene and let out a sigh of happiness. "They are taking care of my son so well. My heart is full." Damon's dad shot him a nasty look after hearing this comment.
Third's face also looked constipated. Kaelthorn indifferently ate a little. Riven was too tired to even pretend to care and lay collapsed under a tree. Only Blood Wraith stared at Damon with twinkling eyes as if he were watching his hero in action.
The other girls, meanwhile, silently ate, stealing occasional awkward glances at the public display of affection that was running rampant.
On the other side, Damon's brother was in his own world. Lola was napping next to him. So was Nox, her stomach literally bulging after eating so many fish.
Georgina sat in another corner, not joining in anything, with a big scowl on her face. She seemed to be talking to someone on the system interface.
All in all, it was a good evening, and Damon did not mind the change in pace. He needed this after the back-to-back situations he had barged into.
After the food, Blood Wraith walked over to Damon with a big smile on his face. "Bro! I found a nice place nearby! It's a waterfall with a hidden grotto behind the curtain of water!"
Blood Wraith's eyes practically turned into stars. "The mana density there is off the charts, and the water is amazing. Bro, what do you say about heading out there together with all the guys and having some good old-fashioned bro-time! Just us guys, some cold drinks, and a soak in the mana pools to wash away the stress of our lives?"
