SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God

Chapter 679: I tried to follow your example

Meira looked around and gave a small smile. She originally planned to go with her supposed best friend, Aurora but it looked like that damned woman had completely forgotten all about her. She could only look in the direction helplessly and leave with Phoenix and Blood Wraith.

With everyone squared away, there was only Malia, his family members and Erin left. "Anyone else wants to leave?" Damon asked. "Erin, can help you do some power leveling if you want to compensate for the inconvenience." He especially looked at Georgina when he spoke.

But the woman simply scoffed and turned her face, walking away. On her behalf, John apologetically looked at Damon.

Damon just shrugged. He then shifted his attention to Erin who was indifferently standing there and waiting. "Erin, stay here as a guard. Spread your senses and see if anyone needs help."

His parents, and his brother's family were not hardcore players and they did not care about taking a few days off. Malia was an administrative assistant. Though she could fight a bit, it was not what she wanted to do. She was also very busy with guild management with more and more guild members popping into Blood Domain every minute.

Same with Arya. The little alchemist had already settled near Damon and started analyzing some flowers and plants from around them with a serious expression on her face. Mark was still out somewhere training and Ghost was also missing. The two were more than capable of handling themselves. That was that. With this, he was free to get to his work.

Damon then remembered that there was one other party. The assassin, the Third.

"Are you going to come out or what?" Damon asked the shady guy.

The assassin popped from his stealth with a sheepish smile on his face. "Greetings, Master."

"What are you doing here? I don't think you are in any danger. I am pretty sure a guy like you could manage to stay hidden as long as you want. So what are you doing here?"

The assassin scratched his head awkwardly. "Master… about that… I tried to follow your example but it did not work out well for me."

Malia who was sitting on the side and tapping away at her system interface rolled her eyes at this response. "My Lord… he is lying to you. He has been busy going around the Blood Hall and harrassing all the vampiresses. I heard that there were some people looking for him."

The Third immediately became flustered. "Hey! Hey! I was not lying. I did indeed follow my Master's path. Just like you, Master, I also wanted a family for myself and some good wholesome wives to warm my soul.

Damon stared at him.

Malia stared at him.

Even Erin, who rarely reacted to anything, blinked once.

"…Wholesome wives," Damon repeated slowly, like he was trying to confirm he heard correctly.

The Third nodded earnestly. "Yes, Master. You have so many. I thought… why shouldn't I also seek such warmth? Such companionship? Such.."

"-such stupidity," Malia cut in flatly. "You weren't seeking wives. You were catcalling elite vampiresses from noble families."

The Third froze like someone had turned him to stone. "T-That is slander."

"It's recorded," Malia replied. She flicked her wrist, and a floating hologram popped up. It showed The Third leaning over a balcony rail, whispering down at a group of armored vampire women:

"Ladies! Fear not the night, for I am the man who will accompany you through it!"

The vampire women threw knives at him. A lot of knives.

Damon pinched the bridge of his nose. "So you are basically hiding out here…"

"Training with you, Master…"

Damon looked at the shameless guy and let out a sigh before he waved him off. "Just… stay here. Guard the camp or fight or do whatever you want. Do not flirt with anything or anyone. Do not bother anyone."

The assassin nodded sincerely. "Yes, Master. The Third at your service. I will never let you down."

Damon gave him an even stare and then ignored him. Finally, the clearing was quiet, well quieter.

Georgina and his mother was arguing about things. His brother settled down near the pond to some fishing. His father sat next to his brother and yawned. Coincidentally, there was one more character settled comfortably next to the duo.

Nox curiously looked at the fishing rod and then at the pond. It looked as if the glutton was waiting for fish to turn up so that she could gets dibs on them first.

The other naughty character Lola was running around and messing with Erin's tail, trying to catch it. Erin didn't seem to mind and she was even flicking her tail here and there, making it difficult for the little girl to catch her.

Arya and Malia were in their own world and Third was nowhere to be found.

Damon took everything in and exhaled. This was his new family.

These were all people whom he loved and some he personally felt responsible for. It was on him to protect them no matter what and this group was growing bigger by the second. Unfortunately, so were his enemies.

While Georgina was rude and bitchy, she wasn't entirely wrong. His connection to them, and his presence in their lives had essentially put these people in far more danger than they ever would have faced on their own.

But on the other hand, their peace without him wouldn't be long lasting either. In his last life, for all three years there was no talks about gods or invasions or mana filling up earth. These so-called super guilds weren't exactly preparing their world for what was to come.

Even a dumb person could guess what their motives could be behind an action like this. These people had never meant for earth to become anything other than perhaps a slave world or something like that. Or perhaps people on earth would be forced into some sort of contract.

Not that anything changed now. They still had an uphill fight in front of them. But at least now they were fighting. That was a step forward in the right direction.

While Damon might have done everything related to Blood Domain in an impulsive manner, his future plans for the guild were nothing trivial. He already had a few ideas in his mind. All that was left was for him to implement them.

Of course, all of this came right after his own personal progress. Since he had dared to put on such a flamboyant show, it was now do or die time. He had to make progress. There was simply no other way.

And for that, this wilderness was the perfect place.

Once he consolidated everything he had gained so far, he could push himself again and again with the mutated, ridiculously strong abonimations in the wilderness until he pushed himself all the way to the other side of the bottleneck he was currently up against.

It was time to get to work and he was actually looking forward to it. The next two days he would be devoting himself completely to training without getting distracted by anything else.

"Damon! Did you have your breakfast today? Mom is going to cook up something nice for you, honey. You haven't eaten in my hands in a while."

Damon smiled helplessly. Well, somewhat without getting distracted.
