Chapter 582: Me, me and only me
Damon couldn't help himself. His grin turned manic. His thoughts spun wildly, each one more exhilarating than the last.
If he dumped all of those points into Strength, he would become a walking apocalypse. If he invested in Intelligence and Vitality instead, he could probably tank the entire holy army and still have mana left to turn their cities into blood lakes.
If he balanced everything? He'd be a nightmare that couldn't be killed!
Damon then thought of something. This stupid game system has never done something amazing like this before. It would never help in creating a cheat like this. So why now? What changed?
Damon quickly sent a mental message to Blood Reign. "Little red, is this your work? Do you have something to do with the massive amount of stats sitting in my status screen?"
Immediately, a giggle sounded. A very tired giggle, but a giggle nevertheless. "Of course, my Lord. It's all me, me and only me. Why would you even doubt that? Who else would look after you like this?"
A red figure immediately appeared next to him. Even though her features were not clear, Damon could still see the playful pout she was sporting. He was once again speechless.
Blood Reign giggled again. "Thanks to devouring that weapon, I am now able to do small tricks like these for you. Are you surprised, my Lord? Did you like my little gift? Tell, my liege, which one of your wives would be able to do something amazing like this? If there were a competition, I would be the undisputed winner!"
Damon's face twitched. What the hell was this woman blabbering about? Does she have to be so dramatic all the time? Fuck it. Drama queen or not. She was indeed the best. "You are absolutely incredible." He chuckled and shook his head helplessly.
"Te he. You are making me blush, my liege. Little old me didn't want you to miss the amazing opportunity you had walked into, so I used all of my soul power to hold onto these for you. But I can't keep it up for much longer, my liege. Please hurry up and open up some meridians. Otherwise, these will all go into the drain."
Damon nodded. He already knew what she was talking about. This was probably why his current level was locked and his stats had some sort of barrier blocking them.
After forming a mana core and stepping into C rank, the next thing one had to do was make their body a better conduit for the mana core.
The entire C rank was about this. Linking the mana core to one's body fully and completely. The more the mana core and the body were refined and perfected, the better the foundation would be when a person ultimately breaks the threshold of the C rank and steps into the B rank.
However, forming meridians and achieving balance and circulating the mana through the body effortlessly were all the basic requirements for C rank. To truly break into the B rank, there was something else that was required. One had to link their mind and soul with the mana core as well.
Naturally, it was not as simple as that. Damon did not possess the exact knowledge about this stage and what to do to cross over into the B rank. In fact, very few people did, even among the NPCs. In his last life, this was a famous topic, but no one had answers to it.
Damon had postponed thinking about this to a later time, but he did not think that he would be here so soon. With a bitter smile, he closed his eyes and focused on the easiest Meridians to break open, the ones in his hands and legs.
Sure, this was not the best time to be doing this, but he wanted to grab at least some of those juicy stats right away!
He had no idea how long Blood Reign would be able to hold onto these, but he did not want to take his chances. The thought of losing some or all of those 200,000-plus stats made his balls sweat.
He also did not feel that this process would be very difficult, at least for the first few meridians. His body was a hungry reservoir, and all he needed to do was probably just give it a gentle nudge.
He was just about to do it when suddenly a figure flew past him and smashed onto the desert sands. It was none other than the woman who had just kicked him away earlier, and now she was getting her ass handed to her.
The impact was so fierce that the dunes split like water, sand exploding outward in a wide shockwave. The air rippled violently as her body skidded across the ground, leaving behind a deep trench before finally coming to a halt a few meters from Damon.
Her breathing was ragged, and she was trembling from head to toe. Poison seeped into every inch of her being, and she was only barely alive.
Damon chuckled. "Well… that was fast." He tossed a slave contract towards her and walked over to her to temporarily take out some of the poison running in her veins. "You have a good foundation to be able to survive fighting that thing. You also seem to have exceptional wind affinity. Want to become a follower?"
The woman's eyes slightly eased as the pain ravaging her body subsided, but the next instant, they once again burned with rage and fury, seeing Damon in front of her. Even though his words were flowery, he was, after all, throwing a slave contract in her face.
Seeing her reaction, Damon chuckled again. "I merely want you to serve under me. Don't overthink things. Sign the contract, and I can let you live. Otherwise, you die."
The woman still looked angry as hell. She even spat on the ground with a look of absolute hatred and contempt. But the next second, with a vicious glare that told many things, she unexpectedly ended up signing the contract.
