Chapter 427: Demonic Roc
Damons eyes widened. "So many strays are able to use demon fire? This has to be my lucky day!"
The handful of survivors stood defiant, their bodies wreathed in the sinister glow of demon fire. The reddish flames licked their skin, protecting them from Damon's poison mist and burning away the venom before it could root itself inside. Their snarls deepened, eyes glowing hotter, and the ground beneath their feet cracked as their demonic energy surged.
One of the demons roared and charged, its entire body bursting into an inferno, claws dragging molten trails through the air. Damon didn't move until the very last moment, then snapped his fingers. A crimson spike burst from the ground, colliding with the demon mid-lunge.
The demon immediately tried to block it with a fire armor, but it was futile. The attack power was far greater than it could handle, and it was simply ripped apart.
The crimson spike drilled straight through the fire armor as though it were nothing more than paper, piercing the demon's chest and erupting from its back in a fountain of blood. The demon's roar turned into a strangled gurgle, the inferno around its body sputtering violently before snuffing out like a dying torch. Its corpse slumped forward, impaled on the blood spike.
Thick blood essence seeped out of it, shooting straight towards Damon. Blood essence from the other fallen demons as well shot towards Damon. The sight was magnificent and terrifying all at once.
The blood essence came like rivers of molten scarlet, twisting through the air, converging on Damon's body in streams that writhed like living serpents. Each thread sank into his skin, making his veins glow faintly crimson beneath the surface, his aura flaring to a new height with every drop.
The other demons froze mid-step, staring at Damon in absolute horror. The crimson eyes looked infinitely unfathomable, and the blood lust in them made even the bloodthirsty demons shiver. It was unclear who the real demon was. Why did such a monstrous vampire show up randomly on the outskirts?
While every single demon was staring in shock, Damon's form blurred. "I don't have all day to deal with you, small fries."
He reappeared all of a sudden in the center of the group without warning, and multiple blood spears shot forward in all directions. They pierced through demonic flesh before they even had a chance to react.
Flames flared as the demon fire tried to resist. Each impact spread venom through the cracks in their infernos, forcefully twisting the flames into sputtering embers before consuming the demons from the inside out.
As the last one fell, Damon exhaled, his grin widening. So much blood essence, and it was all for his taking. Stray or not, their bodies were pumped full of blood essence, and now all of it belonged to Damon.
Damon closed his eyes and absorbed the strong blood essence as fast as he could. After the bloodline purification, even this process had become a lot faster than before. In just a few seconds, he had licked clean every drop of blood essence from the area.
Several notifications continuously popped up, but Damon swiftly ignored them as he had one more important business to attend to. There was one more pesky little demon he had to take care of.
His figure blurred as he immediately dashed towards the west. Within a few moments, he arrived at a tall, barren mountain, atop which something big lay lazily.
[Ding! Level 200 Demonic Roc]
The Demonic Roc was gargantuan, its body cloaked in reddish-black feathers that shimmered like smoldering embers. Each slow breath it took released waves of blistering heat, warping the air around it. One wing alone looked large enough to blot out the sun if fully extended.
Its eyes were molten orbs of hate, glowing brighter as Damon approached. "What? You did not expect me to get here? Did you think that the horde of small fries would take care of me?"
The Roc's head tilted, and its hooked beak opened to release a piercing screech. The sound wasn't just noise. It was a shockwave of demonic energy, cracking the stone beneath Damon's feet. However, it couldn't touch the blood barrier that sprang up around Damon.
"Level 200, huh, and you also seem to be a special beast. No wonder Erin had some trouble dealing with you. But mind you, she will soon surpass you and leave you behind in the dust."
The roc seemed infuriated after hearing those words.
With a thunderous boom, it unfurled its wings, spanning wider than the mountain itself, and leapt skyward. Ash and boulders rained as it took flight, circling high above like a crimson sun. Then its wings snapped downward, and an Inferno Cyclone roared to life, a vortex of blazing wind spiraling down toward Damon.
Damon did not flinch. He only smiled. "You are really good. So good that I think I might make other plans for you."
The cyclone came and went, but Damon stood completely unaffected. [Bastion of the Condemned] sprang up in all its glory, and the roc's eyes widened like saucers, unable to believe what was happening.
It immediately screeched at the foul divine energy spilling out of Damon. Its hatred for the enemy skyrocketed.
The Roc shrieked again, beating its wings furiously, unleashing a storm of demonfire feathers that rained down like molten meteors. But suddenly Damon was nowhere to be found. The next second, he silently appeared right on the bird's back.
The Roc's molten eyes bulged in disbelief. "You have got quite the view up here." Damon smiled, his claw already digging into the crimson-black feathers beneath him.
The moment his claw pierced, blood hissed like acid against his skin, sizzling with demonic fire. The roc wasted no time in creating a demonic fire domain around it, showing its power and weight as a C-rank beast. A blazing sphere appeared around it that devoured the very air, turning the sky into a molten furnace
But instead of recoiling, Damon inhaled deeply, savoring it. "Mmm… spicy. But not nearly enough to burn me." Unfortunately for the roc, Damon's fire affinity and resistance was now high enough that something like this wasn't enough even to make him sweat.
