SSR Waifu Summoner

Chapter 154: Gambling For Relics (Part 3)

'I WANT HIM.'

The dragon was dead set on Nero's figure.

Not only does he have monstrous potential but he also has something like this she has never seen before.

'He might be able to master "that".'

The dragon's ember eyes gleamed as she stared at Nero.

Meanwhile,

"..."

Nero grinned.

It's unknown if it's because he's aware of what the others were thinking or if it's because he earned end-game OP weapons that can be used in this upcoming 2nd Trial…

But regardless of that, Nero carefully sets the sword aside before reaching for the last floating third card.

The last golden shimmer.

His fingers touched the surface.

*Wooommm…*

It's a gentler energy this time.

Softer… perhaps a bit warmer.

The card dissolved into light that felt less like fire and more like summer afternoon sunshine, comfortable and soothing.

This time everything felt tamer and calmer.

A quiet pulse of energy resonated before it settled into his palm with weight so minimal he almost didn't feel it.

When the glow faded, he held a necklace.

Delicate thin chain made from gold so pure it almost glowed, links so fine they looked like they'd been woven from moonlight threads.

The pendant drew his attention immediately.

A teardrop crystal, perfectly crimson red but with something mysterious inside.

Nero didn't know what it was but it's definitely something…

[They are memories, Master.]

'Memories?'

What did Aria mean by that?

Is the owner's spirit trapped in there or something like that?

[Yes. This specific equipment is a single life work of a being who poured their entire will and emotions into making this piece of accessory into reality… With the intention of those who receive it having the utmost protection beyond mere physical and spiritual aspect.]

Emotions crystallized into visible form. They swirling in patterns that suggested consciousness without quite achieving it.

The crystal pulsed gently, synchronized with a rhythm that felt oddly familiar.

Like...

'A heartbeat?'

It's a bit confusing and the explanation felt a bit vague… but somehow, Nero could somewhat understand what Aria meant.

*Thump. Thump. Thump.*

The pendant beat in perfect time with his own heart, gentle and steady.

His interface displayed the final details.

===

Nero stared at the necklace for several seconds, processing the implications.

A support item.

Defensive, restorative, perfect for someone whose job was keeping everyone else alive.

'Yep, definitely made for Celis.'

There's no need to think any further.

He chuckled, turning the crystal to watch light refract through crystallized memories.

'Oddly enough, it's as if it was perfectly suited for them.'

[... Well, the relics are really made for the summons, Master.]

'You don't say.'

It made sense.

A skilled waifu needs a worthy equipment.

And these 3 SSR-tier relics are just that.

With each one practically screaming the name of who should wield it.

Verdalume for his research-obsessed mage, Luna.

Sollien for his upgraded divine blender Aury.

Hearttrace for the kind and gentle healer of their team, Celis.

All three weapons perfectly fit their class.

'The gacha system really is reading my mind at this point.'

… Not that he was complaining, of course.

Sure, he'd wanted the items for himself initially.

But seeing them now, understanding what they represented...

These weapons would reach their full potential in the hands of true masters with countless years of experience.

And with the Second Trial approaching in just a few days, every advantage that they would need, mattered.

Especially for the people he cared about.

"Alright," he said, carefully setting the necklace with the other two relics. "Let's distribute them now."

His hand then reached out for Verdalume first before casually handing it out towards Luna.

"Here."

He looked like he was giving a grocery bag rather than a very rare item..

"... Eh?"

"Hm?"

Meanwhile the two women were dumbfounded, they were unable to understand his action.

Was he asking for them to hold it?

'... I-I mean, there's no way he would give something so important away just like that, right?'

Luna thought with nervous suspicion.

She was just about to say something, when the words that followed from Nero's mouth shattered their previous thoughts.

"Hm? What are you spacing out for? It's yours now. Consider it as my apology gift, I guess?"

Nero casually shrugged.

And the two knowledgeable women, especially Luna who's supposed to receive it had her brain short circuit, her expression froze into a stupor with her mouth half open…

'A worthy reaction indeed.'

Nero almost laughed at the way she's looking at him as if he suddenly grew an additional arm or something.

"Well? Are you gonna take it or not?"

He playfully urged her, causing Luna to break out of her dazed as she looked at him with a mix of a disbelieving and suspicious look.

"Y-You! What's your scheme this time? T-There's no way you would just suddenly give such a rare–!"

But before she could continue he playfully ruffled her hair as he spoke with a deadpan expression.

"Ouch– it's really a gift, and like I said, it's my thanks and apologies for all the things you've done and I've done so far. So just accept it."

"— Hey! Stop it!"

"Here. Just accept it, or else I'll throw this thing into a trash can."

"— Ah!"

Noticing the redness on her face, Nero stopped rubbing her hair as he tossed Verdalume towards her as if he was disposing of trash…

Of course, Luna who saw that such a precious relic was coming towards her immediately became flustered and instinctively caught it.

Seeing the smile on his face, Luna knew the man wasn't really joking.

"..."

Luna felt a sort of complicated emotions, but forcibly shut all those down as she lowered her gaze.

"... T-Thank you."

The pink-haired elf genius managed to mutter it… though, Nero had to admit,

"What a cute tsundere?"

"What?"

"Nothing. I just said the staff seems to like you."

"..."

Feeling suspicious, Luna doubted the true meaning of that word knowing this sly man… but for now she chose to ignore it as she could feel the natural crystalline object in her hands glow a subtle energy.

'Amazing…'

Letting go of her old wooden staff as it floated mid-air before vanishing into her space magic, Luna's eyes glowed as she felt mesmerized at the feeling and information her eyes and brain could process.

"..."

Meanwhile, Nero stood at the side as he smiled at Luna who's like a kid who's currently absorbed in her new toy.

It was truly a happy moment.

"Oi, human. Surely you haven't forgotten about me, right?"

… Until a certain dragon's voice whispered right next into his ears.

Feeling a sudden chill crept up his back, his danger alarms started going off.

'... When the hell did she get next to me?'

He didn't even sense or feel her presence at all…

'Looks like I still have lots to learn.'

"... Yes, I do have something for you."

… Even though he didn't have one.

The 3 SSR-tier is definitely his fluke in a lifetime.

God knows if he will ever get another SSR-tiers anymore.

Will SR-tier relic work?

'...'

He could already see himself getting tortured by his dragon teacher.

… Yeah, there's no way a lower quality would satisfy a dominant woman like her.

'... I'll probably pull another SSR-tier… right?'

For now, Nero could only hope as he decided to buy time by saying he's still preparing something for Velraeth.

But just as he was about to open his mouth,

"No, I do not care about those weapons of yours. I could make qualities surpassing those if I have the right materials."

"... Huh?"

Then what did this woman want?

And did she just say she could make weapons stronger than these OP SSR relics…?

[I told you she's one of the best… blacksmith even surpassing the eldest and the most skillful dwarf blacksmith, Master!]

'I mean, yeah… I figured she's one hell of a monster, but definitely not this much no?'

[Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! Master is still underestimating the rarities of his waifus!]

After that proclamation from Velraeth he can't comment about Aria's words.

It seems like there's still a lot more to know about how amazing and extraordinary each of his waifu summons are!

"Then… what do you want?"

Nero blinked as Velraeth stood in front him.

Her height was towering over him as the pressure around her started to become heavy.

Establishing an eye-to-eye contact with each other, Velraeth made cracked an eerie razor sharp grin as she loudly declared,

"I want you."

"... Huh?"

Did she mean as a partner? Or—

"To be exact, I want you by myself. After looking at you for quite some time now, I have decided that I'm going to fully teach your body and spirit all that I've learned and the techniques that I've once thought were not possible."

"... Oh."

Not going to lie, he was expecting something…

"In just a few days the 2nd Trial would start right?"

"Yeah…?"

Stepping closer to him, the tall dragon's hand rested on his shoulder and then,

*Boooom—!*

His body immediately hunched just from the pressure and strength of her hand!

*Crack!*

The ground beneath him visibly cracked from the excess weight.

'— It's so heavy!'

"Within those few days… I will turn you into a complete monster."

"Ah."

He was indeed expecting something.

'But definitely not this…'

It looks like the biggest hurdle and the greatest opportunity has been bestowed to him.

"I will make you my successor."
