SSR Waifu Summoner

Chapter 152: Traces of the First Valkyrie

'Three SSRs in one pull?! This is absurd!'

Even he could hardly believe it.

The odds were ridiculous.

He probably had a better chance of getting hit by an asteroid at this point.

In fact, Nero was sure he had already used up all his luck when pulling for Luna, only to end up getting her and Velraeth at the same time though…

But turns out he was wrong this time.

Because here they were, three legendary weapons waiting to be revealed.

His hand moved toward the first card, anticipation making his pulse rise.

"Alright... let's see what we got."

He reached out.

And the golden card pulsed once in response.

***

Legendor, Grand Hall of Round Tables

King Arthur sat across from Priestess Joanna in the strategy chamber, both feeling the weight of recent events pressing on them like stone.

Maps were spread across the table, covered in markings of corrupted dungeon sites and incident reports.

Every scribbled note and red circle made Arthur's jaw tighten.

"I heard the news about the recent attack… it seems that the sanctuaries weren't isolated incidents."

Joanna's voice carried a tired undertone she rarely let slip.

Her usually calm expression had faint cracks of weariness around the edges.

"17 coordinated attacks… Thousands transformed into corrupted beings…

Whatever the Obsidian Covenant is building, it involves the sacrifices of others."

Arthur nodded slowly.

His fingers tapped lightly against Excalibur's hilt, each tap a quiet sign of the calculations running in his head.

"The corrupted dungeons near Camelot show the same pattern. Dimensional distortions, leyline destabilization, synchronized signatures. It all looks like they've been planning this for…"

His voice faded. He didn't want to finish the thought.

Joanna leaned forward, her eyes reflecting thoughts moving faster than her words could keep up with.

"Pope Edris believes the First Saintess's escape triggered the acceleration. That her release served as the final catalyst for whatever darkness they're summoning."

"And you?"

Arthur's tone lowered as he asked.

"I think we're missing pieces of a puzzle far older than any of us realize."

Her hands folded together, knuckles turning white as she tightened her grip.

"The prophecy speaks of the Dark Catastrophe, but prophecies never tell the whole story. There's always context buried under legend."

Arthur just opened his mouth, about to respond.

When suddenly,

*Bang!*

The doors exploded inward.

Christoffel stumbled through, pale as if he'd seen death itself.

His breaths came sharp and uneven, like he'd sprinted all the way from the dungeon district.

Sweat dripped down the sides of his face despite the room's cool air.

Anybody could see that the man wasn't in his greatest shape…

In fact, he looked like someone who just escaped death.

"Christoffel?"

Arthur stood immediately, the concern slipping past his usual composed demeanor.

Joanna reached him even faster.

Her hands glowed with diagnostic magic as she hovered them over the trembling inspector.

Warm holy energy washed over him in steady waves as she checked for corruption or wounds.

"You're physically unharmed," she said, confusion slipping into her tone. "But your mana signature is rattled. What happened?"

Christoffel shook his head hard.

His hands trembled as he held onto the doorframe, trying to force the words out.

"... They found out I was tailing them, Your Majesty."

Arthur's expression sharpened with immediate focus.

"Nero Walker and his companions?"

During the time, Arthur investigated the background of the group who just recently arrived.

Thankfully, the man seems to have registered into the guild records in order to sell the monster materials he owns.

So it wasn't that much hard to find out about him, especially if the man himself isn't hiding himself deliberately.

'But for them to find out Christoffel who's specialized at hidden reconnaissance...'

... They're much more than what he thought they would be.

"Yes, but…"

Christoffel's voice cracked.

"Your Majesty, I don't know how to explain what I witnessed. That man… those women… they're really not normal. N-Not even close to what we assume…"

He sucked in a shaky breath, and the words came out in a rush.

"I watched them clear the Swamp Tower. An A-tier dungeon. The three of them walked through it like they were taking a casual stroll… Personally, I found them extremely skillful, but since ithe highest monster there is an A-tier I didn't think too much… until the anomalous SR-tier monsters appeared…!"

Christoffel lowered his gaze as he continued recounting,

"T-There were three corrupted monsters that appeared… it was supposed to be pure despair as even me couldn't handle the pressure emitted by those monsters… As an agility type I was ready to escape, and yet…"

Christoffel let out a hollow laugh. It sounded more like someone trying not to break down.

"That man alone killed them… All three. Solo. His companions just watched like it was a training session…!"

"..."

Joanna's brows lifted slightly, interest flickering through her expression.

Arthur exchanged a glance with her before looking back at Christoffel.

"Elaborate."

"The man… Nero Walker used a kind of magic I've never seen before. He blended elemental spells directly into his swordsmanship. It's not your normal weapon enhancements or runes, nor was it a support spell for weapons… The blade itself turned into a light that destroyed the strongest SR-monster into two in a single slash…!"

Christoffel's hands moved rapidly as if trying to physically demonstrate something his vocabulary couldn't describe.

"And his companions…! One's sure to be a dragon. I'm certain of it! That dominant aura… the presence.. the way she watched him fight like she was evaluating prey rather than a person! The other was a mysterious elf who's most likely a mage judging from her clothing and the extravagant amount of mana surrounding her."

"..."

A heavy silence hung in the chamber.

Clearly, all the information was beyond what they expected.

In fact, if he didn't know Christoffel for a long time he would've thought that the man had gone crazy instead.

But he knew the guy, after years of loyal service and clean record, he would never lie.

'... Nero Walker.'

Arthur's mind raced as he processed it.

A team capable of clearing destabilized dungeons alone.

Purging corruption.

Operating with power that defied conventional capability.

They could be potential allies, or a threat of catastrophic scale.

"How about my invitation?... Did he agree to come?" Arthur finally asked.

Christoffel nodded with visible relief.

"Yes. He accepted as soon as I said the invitation came from you."

"... Hm?"

Joanna tilted her head slightly, curiosity replacing her earlier tension.

"Forgive my intrusion, Your Majesty, but who exactly is this individual you've been tracking?"

Arthur gestured toward the map sprawled across the table, pointing at several cleared sites.

"... Over the past week, someone has been eliminating the dungeon anomalies plaguing Legendor. Not just defeating them. Completely purging the corruption. And doing so at speeds impossible for any knights or newbie heroes."

His finger traced a line connecting the cleared locations.

"Early reports mentioned a small, extraordinarily powerful group. A man with at least four women… The exact members vary depending on the witness."

"... Multiple women?"

Something in Joanna's expression flickered at that number, though she kept it subtle.

Clearly, the guy must be a womanizer…

'No! Bad Joanna! Stop judging other people based on words alone!'

The priestess rapidly shook her head.

"Yes. Two were confirmed during the Swamp Tower incident," Arthur said, not noticing the priestess just slightly behind him.

Arthur then nodded to Christoffel to continue based on the reports.

"One appeared to be an elf mage… Short pink hair, heterochromic eyes, and enough condensed mana to make experienced casters uncomfortable."

Christoffel paused, swallowed, then continued.

"The other… was an angel."

'...!'

Brunhilde's exclamation burst inside Joanna's mind with enough force to make her heart skip,

'An angel…? In Legendor…?!'

'Brunhilde, please. Let me hear the details first.'

Joanna kept her composure despite the chaotic mental shock.

She focused back on Christoffel, ignoring the frantic energy of the angel.

"... An angel," she repeated in a controlled tone. "That is unusual. Most of the angels remain in Häeven unless on sanctioned missions…"

'Joanna, ask about her appearance!'

'...'

Joanna resisted the urge to rub her forehead.

'I'll ask… Give me a moment.'

She turned slightly toward Arthur.

"Your Majesty, you mentioned this man travels with at least four companions. The angel is one… Can you please give a concrete description of her?"

Arthur flipped through compiled testimonies.

"Well… reports vary, but the most consistent mention a beautiful woman with long silver hair and golden eyes, and was dressed in what seems to be a full-divine armor when in the dungeon…"

"I see… as for the other companions?"

"A twintailed human girl... and another woman with draconic traits and overwhelming presence. Possibly more, but those two appear frequently than the angel and the elf."

He met her eyes again.

"Why? Is the angel someone you perhaps know, Ms. Joanna?"

"... Perhaps."

'Silver hair… golden eyes… divine armor…'

Brunhilde repeatedly whispered those descriptions as if she were hypnotized.

This time she's mostly sure about it…

Finally… she would meet her master again, after all the countless years they were apart.

The Celestial Cradle shall regain its prime glory once more.

Brunhilde is about 99% certain that the angel in question is indeed her master.

… But just to be sure.

'Joanna… I want you to ask this last.'

'What do you want me to ask?'

'The armor… Did it have distinctive markings around the shoulders and chest plate?'

Joanna inwardly nodded before calmly asking

"One more thing, your Majesty. Did the angel's armor have any specific markings? Around the shoulders or chest area?"

Upon receiving the question, Arthur looked at the man beside him.

"..."

Christoffel furrowed his brow before speaking,

"... Yes. From what I have heard from others is that there's what seems to be intricate patterns on the shoulder guards. And the chest plate carried a design like crystallized light shaped into constellations… I think?"

"..."

Silence.

For three full heartbeats, Brunhilde said nothing.

'It's her…'

And then,

'... Joanna, that's Master Aurelia! The First Star Valkyrie! The legendary First Captain of the Celestial Cradle! She's alive! She's actually alive! My master is alive!'

Joanna's eyes widened before she could stop herself. Arthur noticed instantly.

"Priestess? Is something wrong?"

She blinked, regaining control while still shaken.

"... No, Your Majesty. Forgive me. I was simply surprised. The armor markings sounded familiar."

Arthur's interest sharpened.

"You recognize them?"

"I may know someone who fits that description. If I'm correct, this could be significant."

'Significant?! That's an understatement!'

Brunhilde practically vibrated with excitement.

'Joanna, we need to go! We need to find her! I have to see her! I have to confirm!'

'Brunhilde, calm yourself. We need more information.'

'Calm myself?! My master, who I haven't met for eons, is finally here! Not only was she alive but she's also stronger than before! Master Aurelia must have missed us too!'

'...'

Joanna kept her expression steady, masking the internal chaos.

"... Mr. Christoffel," she said, "when did they say they would arrive?"

He glanced at Arthur, who gave permission with a nod.

"He didn't give an exact date, but I believe they'll attend the celebration for your arrival, Priestess. He seemed interested in meeting you there."

'The celebration is in three days!'

Brunhilde's excitement spiked again, buzzing wildly in Joanna's mind.

Seriously... At this point she's now the one who needs to calm this childish angel...

'... Wasn't the role now reversed at this point?'

Joanna inwardly poured with a deadpan look.
