Splitting the Heavens

Chapter 1926: Return Journey Pt.7

"Another Sage!"

The third star Sage who was currently trapped felt his heart sink. He realized that the Star Ship that was trapped in the spatial vortex likely carried the Sage native to the Heaven Observation Star Region.

Yet that was not what truly terrified him. What unsettled him most was that the newly arrived Sage, clearly not far from him and even having met his gaze just moments ago, had remained entirely undetectable. It was as if the person didn't even exist.

There were only two explanations for such a scenario. Either what he saw was an illusion, or the person's cultivation and strength were so far beyond his own that he could not perceive them at all.

Even without thinking too hard, the third star Sage knew which it was.

If it had merely been an illusion, there was no way it would have escaped his detection, so the only possibility was the latter.

"This person's strength surpasses mine, and not by a small margin either! His cultivation is overwhelmingly beyond me!"

The conclusion struck him in an instant, and immediately a wave of dread flooded his heart. He knew he was in deep shit this time.

The person before him was likely a mid-level Sage, possibly even one of the strongest among them!

This third star Sage was no stranger to mid-stage Seventh-Tier experts. But compared to the suffocating pressure he had just felt from a single glance, none of those he'd encountered before could compare.

Don't panic. I can't panic!

No matter what, the third star Sage was a sovereign of a Heavenly Field and had weathered countless storms. Upon sensing the grave danger he was in, he swiftly composed himself and began considering ways to escape, and quickly came up with a potential solution.

"I need help!"

He was well aware that if the newly arrived cultivator from the Heaven Observation Star Region truly had the power of a mid-level Sage, and he was still trapped by the strange battle formation, the odds of him falling were dangerously high.

To preserve a sliver of hope in such a desperate situation, he would need to rely on another Sage who had also descended.

The only issue was that the other Sage, who had arrived after him and likely intended to kill steal him anyway, was merely a second star Sage. He might not have the courage to confront a mid-level Sage.

But if that person didn't act, then once he was killed, could they really expect the mid-level Sage of the Heaven Observation Star Region to let them go?

"I can only hope that person understands what's really at stake here." The third star Sage knew there was no more time for second-guessing. He gathered his inner qi and erupted with full power, attempting to break free from the battle formation in one go.

Almost at the same moment, the second star Sage who had originally pursued the Ji Continent, but had paused upon encountering Shang Xia, finally came to a reluctant decision. Under the oppressive gaze of the mid-level Sage, he resumed his attack on the Ji Continent, forming a pincer move with the third star Sage trapped inside the formation.

The battle formation formed by the three large Star Ships was naturally incapable of withstanding a coordinated attack from two Sages.

At that moment, the Ji Continent that was caught between both Sages, promptly descended under Song Zhen's command. The other two Star Ships did not move far and remained aligned on the same horizontal plane.

Due to the Ji Continent's descent, the formation that had previously trapped the third star Sage transformed from an encirclement into a standoff, simultaneously relieving the Ji Continent from the pressure of being attacked from both sides.

However, the maneuver also meant the Ji Continent had effectively released the third star Sage from the battle formation.

The third star Sage was overjoyed and immediately moved to regroup with the second star Sage. With them joining forces, they felt that they would have the freedom to maneuver even if they had to face the mid-level Sage.

Yet the smile on his face quickly froze.

He suddenly realized that although the three Star Ships seemed to have withdrawn, the anchor chains from all three remained locked onto the void surrounding him. As a result, he still couldn't break free!

"Oh no!"

The third star Sage wasn't the only uneasy one. The void around had been completely sealed off, and the second star Sage, who had been charging ove,r halted abruptly.

Although the third star Sage currently had his back turned to the mid-level Sage, he could see from the sheer terror on the second star Sage's face that danger had arrived.

The third star Sage, ruthless and decisive by nature, acted without hesitation. Even without knowing exactly what was happening behind him, he gathered his inner qi and communicated with his divine soul he had placed in his home world. He attempted to forcefully draw on the power of his Heavenly Field, ignoring the turbulent void and the risks involved.

That was the last resort of any Sage who had entrusted their divine soul to their Heavenly Field.

Since it was the last resort, it shouldn't be used lightly. Only when they knew it was a test of life and death would they draw on its power even when separated from their Heavenly Field!

The technique was not only extremely dangerous, as it could be exploited by enemies during the transfer, but it also inflicted massive damage on their physical body and their origin world. It was damage that could take an extremely long time to recover from.

As the forced spatial passage cracked open, the third star Sage dove in. But almost immediately, he felt the void behind him tear apart.

His domain shattered like glass the next second.

Before he could do anything else, a horrifying force tore through his back. Every layer of skin, every fiber of muscle, his bones, his organs... Everything was pierced through until the force landed on his dantian.

Blood was spraying out of his lips at that point, and they even contained traces of his organs. The sheer vitality of a Sage allowed him to cling to life, and in a final struggle, he even managed to guide the destructive force that was about to obliterate his dantian away.

He saved his life at the very last second, but the redirected energy still exploded before it fully left his dantian.

That very moment, the Heavenly Star Continent that was protected by a Sage of the Essence Ji World of the Distant Star Region, the strongest expert of the Starry Pole Sect, crumbled without warning.
