Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Sparring
"Father, please don't bully me" Kyrell said while smiling bitterly. Even then, he still wielded his daggers, ready to fight at a moment's notice.
At this point, the hotbloodedness of Fraser showed. After receiving a reply from his son, he quickly moved and appeared in front of Kyrell, his daggers targeting the youth's side.
Even when facing a Spirit Nourisher Cultivator, Kyrell displayed calmness. This strong cultivator was his father, after all. With his father's personality, it would be impossible for Kyrell not to be injured but he definitely wouldn't be killed.
Clang!!
Sparks flew in the air as Kyrell used his own daggers to block his sides. The angle his arms moved was not something an ordinary human with their hard bones could do.
While it looks like he was only doing physical work, in reality, his mana was circulating inside him. Mana enhanced his physical strength even though it does not have flashy effects on the outside, it made it possible for him to bend his arms unnaturally while not breaking his bones.
"It felt like I blocked a truck's assault" Kyrell thought through gritted teeth as his father's physical strength although being suppressed was clearly not something he could match.
He blocked a dagger attack but it felt like what he blocked was a cannonball due to the force it exerted.
In a situation where the opponent is better in physical attributes and skills, one must maintain proper distance. As such, Kyrell jumped back but Fraser immediately pursued him.
This time, the dagger was targeting his shoulders. If it was any other newbie in cultivation, they definitely wouldn't be able to tell where Fraser was planning to attack.
However, Kyrell, with the help of Zero can see the daggers' trajectory path. With the powerful calculation skills of the A.I. just by analyzing the movements of Fraser's muscles made it easy to predict where he would attack.
It was like getting a foresight!
Clang! Clang!
Kyrell passively blocked again but he knew that he could not always be in a passive state. As such, while ignoring the heavy blow on his now shaking hands, he used his right foot to kick his father's side.
Without much effort, Fraser took back his left arm and used it to block the kick easily.
Without any delay, Kyrell threw his daggers forcing Fraser to block them, giving the former a chance to put some distance between them.
While backing and creating distance, Kyrell picked up some weapons from the small pouch on his sides and he threw them.
These weapons are small star-shaped blades called shuriken. They are one of the common weapons used by cultivators along with daggers and swords.
"Not enough!" Fraser said before throwing his own shurikens. Not only did he block Kyrell's shurikens, but he also attacked them in a way that the shurikens flew back to his son.
Seeing this, Kyrell's pupils dilated and he hurriedly retrieved daggers from his pouch and with high precision, blocked the incoming shurikens.
However, while he was distracted from the shurikens, he suddenly noticed that his father vanished from his vision and all the hair in his body stood up.
A sense of danger made him shudder and he turned his head above him while crossing his arms and dagger above him.
Bang!
Kyrell's body was thrown away as Fraser jumped in the air and kicked him. While the Fiendish Dagger Technique is a dagger technique, it does not only consist of dagger movements.
It was stupid to only rely on using daggers in a battle. The Fiendish Dagger Technique also incorporated other moves that one can rely on in battle just like what Fraser is doing now.
After his kick successfully landed, he threw his daggers towards Kyrell that was still in the air. Zero, with the nanobots' help was able to give its host a 360 degree vision when needed.
Of course, this was not always activated as Kyrell's brain was not able to endure such a vision. However, it was not impossible to use it in battles just like right now.
This was the reason why he was able to see Fraser attacking from the air and also the reason why he can see the daggers targeting him even though he was still in the air.
Without much choice, Kyrell forcefully moved his arms. Fortunately, the Fiendish Dagger Technique gives the user flexible movements. Even if the angle is tricky, the user can still make such a movement.
As such, Kyrell was ready to defend from the daggers but something took him off guard.
Zero already determined the path of the daggers and relayed it to Kyrell via a path that only he could see. He was ready to defend himself on the path he could see but to his surprise, his father threw a single shuriken.
This single shuriken altered the trajectory path of the daggers. Even though Zero relayed the new trajectory path of the daggers, Kyrell's speed and reflex even with the help of the nanobots is still not enough to defend.
As such, the daggers were able to hit him on his sides. If not for his father not intending to kill him, he would have died already.
"If this was a real battle, that's one death on your part" Fraser's words entered Kyrell's ears after he landed on the ground.
He can twist his body while in the air so that he can land properly but the pain from the wounds on his sides makes that impossible.
While he wasn't pierced by the dagger deeply, it still left wounds on his body and they were painful.
"Fiendish Dagger Technique... it really is a dirty technique!" Kyrell lamented. This technique will do and use anything to land a blow on the opponent even if it meant tricking them.
"Again!" Fraser said and despite the pain, Kyrell stood up, ready for another round.
This time, the way Kyrell moved changed. He is already injured and the Fiendish Dagger Technique also has a set of movements for such a scenario. This type of movement will prevent him from letting his wounds worsen and bleed to death.
His movements were clearly smaller than before and his and his father's daggers clashed. Their targets are mostly the side, shoulders, eyes, heart, lungs, neck, and stomach.
When their distance from each other was close enough, they would even try to stab their dagger on the other's back. Even if they can't attack the vital areas, they would try to create as long of a wound as possible.
Of course, it was only Kyrell that was being injured. Despite suppressing almost all of his strength, Fraser was still able to effortlessly deal with Kyrell's movements.
Suddenly, Fraser swiped his foot on Kyrell's causing the latter to lose his balance.
Without wasting any time, Fraser used his dagger to stab down, as if intending to pierce his son's heart when the latter moved his upper body in a way that made people feel like he didn't have bones.
This caused Fraser's attack to miss and he immediately jumped back. Even with the unnatural angle his body was in, Kyrell was still able to wield his dagger and attack Fraser on the side, causing the latter to dodge.
"How ruthless! You first moved in a way that the wounds on your side will not worsen to make me think that you are mindful of your injuries"
"Then, after getting a chance, you disregard how it would make your injuries worse and make such a large movement. Magnificent! You are satisfying me more and more!"
As a father, Fraser can't help but be proud the more cunning Kyrell showed himself to be. It was not enough in this world to be strong and intelligent, one must also be cunning if they want to survive and achieve a lot of things.
"You're talkative today, father" Kyrell said with a chuckle. He also jumped back while throwing shurikens in the air but his father seems to have unleashed even more of his physical prowess.
He moved like a shadow and in a blink of an eye, he was already behind Kyrell as if the man was a sneaky assassin.
Even with Zero's 360-degree vision, Kyrell was almost unable to block since his body was not yet powerful enough to match Zero's capabilities.
He hurriedly twisted his feet to turn his body so that he could use his daggers to block.
"Remarkable! More!" Fraser said with a grin but what met him was a shuriken aimed at his face.
This shuriken was not thrown by Kyrell from his hands. It actually came out from his mouth and he spat it out in a perfect timing.
While spitting a shuriken from one's mouth was ineffective if the target was too far, at this moment where the two are almost face to face, it was effective. However, it would only be effective if the opponent has the same level of physical prowess that Kyrell has.
Fraser definitely is far above his level and just like what Kyrell did before, the former moved his body in a way that would break a normal human's bones if they replicated it to dodge the shuriken.
