Spider-Man Mayhem

Chapter 246: Chapter 246: Fantastic Four (12)

[Third Person's PoV]

"Is this a bad time to mention something unusual is happening?" Aria suddenly interjected, drawing everyone's attention.

"Huh?" Peter turned to look at the Spider-bot. "What's wrong?"

Felicia jumped up from where she was sitting as everyone else turned their focus to Aria.

"I just detected unusual seismic movements and underground vibrations using the satellite," Aria reported. She projected a holographic map of New York City onto the wall. A sonar-like ripple was pulsing between the boroughs of Queens and Manhattan, growing in intensity.

"The pattern suggests someone is trying to create a man-made earthquake," she continued. "At this rate, it'll spread throughout all of New York City." Her voice was tense.

"Do you have any idea who might be behind it?" Gwen asked curiously.

"You guys have a satellite?" Johnny asked in astonishment.

"Not the time, Johnny…" Harry said with a sigh.

"The activity is escalating rapidly!" Aria suddenly exclaimed. The projected waves on the map sped up and expanded even further.

"We have to act fast!" Peter said, his expression serious. "If this keeps up, the destruction will be catastrophic. Countless lives are at risk."

Turning to the Fantastic Four, he asked, "Would you guys like masks?" Meanwhile, he motioned for the rest of the team to get moving. They wasted no time. Meanwhile the Ancient One was nowhere to be seen.

"I like keeping my identity public. How else am I gonna get famous?" Johnny said, puffing out his chest.

"A mask wouldn't do much for me, kiddo, so what's the point?" Ben grumbled.

Reed glanced between Peter and his teammates before closing his eyes thoughtfully. "You said we're our own team, right?"

"Yeah?" Peter answered, unsure where this was going.

Reed smiled. "Then I think New York has enough masked vigilantes. We'll stand out by doing things differently."

Peter nodded and turned to Sue, silently asking for her input. She blinked in surprise before sighing and smiling. "I don't think I have much choice in the matter, do I?"

Bruce folded his arms and spoke up. "Are you seriously letting them come along? This is a life-and-death situation. They don't have much experience."

"Hey!—" Johnny started to protest, but Peter held up a hand to stop him.

"I don't get to decide what they do. They're in control of their own lives," Peter explained. "The rest of my team is tied directly to me, but these guys aren't obligated to follow my orders. And let's be real—I know them well enough by now to say that if I told them to stay put, they wouldn't listen. Johnny, for instance, would definitely rush in to help no matter what I said."

Johnny rubbed the back of his head, looking embarrassed. "Aw, shucks…"

Peter smirked. "So, I'd rather bring them along, keep an eye on them, and correct any mistakes they might make due to inexperience."

Bruce still looked skeptical. "Are you sure you'll be able to do that? Won't you be too busy saving lives to micromanage them?"

Peter grinned. "Of course I'll be able to—" He raised his hand just as his utility belt flew into it, tossed by Ghost-Spider. In one fluid motion, he suited up. "—After all, I'm the Amazing Spider-Man!"

Bruce chuckled and nodded. "Alright then. Aria and I will provide intel from here. I'll be your guy in the chair."

"Much appreciated," Spider-Man nodded before slapping a hand on each of the Fantastic Four's backs. A brief electric pulse surged through the unstable molecules of their suits, causing them to shift. Their clothing transformed into bright blue uniforms, each adorned with a white circle and the number four on their chests.

"To the Weaver! We'll get there faster." With that, Spider-Man led the charge.

As they rushed toward the jet, Ghost-Spider suddenly shouted, "The Fantastic Four!!"

Spider-Man glanced back, startled. "What?"

"Felix mentioned them before when we were heading to our internship! He said we were going to meet the Fantastic Four!" Ghost-Spider exclaimed as she entered the jet.

"Who's Felix?" Reed asked curiously as they took their seats.

"Peter and Felicia's kid from the future who visited us. Johnny met him," Nightwing explained.

"FROM THE FUTURE?!" they all exclaimed in disbelief.

Johnny's face contorted as he tried to remember. His eyes widened in realization. "Wait… you mean that awkward kid who could barely remember his own name?"

"Yeah. He almost called you 'Uncle~'" Spider-Man teased as the jet roared to life and took off.

While the rest of the Fantastic Four sat in awe, Johnny puffed out his chest proudly. "Your kid calls me 'Uncle,' huh?" he said, rubbing his nose smugly.

Reed, still deep in thought, suddenly asked, "Wait… does this mean our name is a paradox? Did we come up with 'The Fantastic Four' because your son from the future mistakenly mentioned it?"

"I kinda like it!" Johnny declared with a grin. "I am Johnny Storm! An honorary member of the Fantastic Four! Hero name still pending!"

Spider-Man leaned forward in his seat, his tone turning serious. "Alright, enough joking around. Our first priority is civilian safety. After that, we find the source of these tremors…"

Aria's voice came through the comms. "Father, we're directly over the epicenter of the tremors."

"Alright, open the hatch!" Spider-Man ordered. The jet's back door lowered, revealing the city below. The deafening sound of screams filled the air as the ground shook violently.

The streets were a mess—cracks split through the roads, cars swerved out of control, and buildings groaned under the stress.

Spider-Man reached into his utility belt and handed out earpiece comms. He even used his webbing to secure one onto Ben's rocky exterior.

"They're flame-resistant, so don't worry. Johnny, keep your flames in check. You should be able to lower their temperature so they won't hurt anyone. Stick close to Firestar—your powers are similar, and she'll act as your mentor."

Then, he looked at the rest of the team. "I'd have preferred you guys to get more experience before throwing you into the fire, but it looks like you'll be learning the hard way. Stay close to one of us at all times. We'll guide you as best we can. Now, let's move! We've wasted enough time!"

Without hesitation, Spider-Man leapt from the jet.

Ghost-Spider used her Zero Point Energy to lighten Ben's weight and carried him down.

"FLAME ON!" Johnny shouted, bursting into flames before taking off. "WOOHOOO!!"

"You idiot! Wait for me!" Firestar snapped, turning into a streak of red light as she pursued him.

"Hold on tight!" Nightwing said as Reed wrapped himself around him. As they jumped, Reed accidentally stretched into a parachute-like shape.

Nightwing chuckled. "This could work."

Scarlet-Spider grabbed Susan and leapt down.

"I WASN'T READY! WHY DIDN'T YOU WARN ME?!" Susan screamed as they plummeted.

"Sorry!!" Scarlet-Spider yelled back, quickly forming a psionic platform beneath them to cushion their descent.

Spider-Kat pouted before jumping off. "I don't have anyone to carry…"

Meanwhile, Spider-Man tucked his limbs in and dove, shooting a web to swing himself forward. As he soared, he spotted a man teetering on a balcony railing, desperately clutching at thin air.

"AAAAAAAHHHHH!!" the man screamed, flailing—until Spider-Man caught him mid-air and held him close.

"Hold on tight!" Spider-Man warned before landing safely on the cracked pavement.

The man trembled with relief, tears in his eyes. "Thank you—"

Before he could finish, the tremors intensified. A woman's panicked scream cut through the chaos.

"MY BABY!!"

Spider-Man whipped around. The ground had begun to split apart, and a baby stroller was rolling directly toward the widening chasm.

Without hesitation, Spider-Man released the man and lunged forward, stretching out his hand just in time to grab the stroller before it tumbled into the abyss.

Spider-Man landed beside the woman, handing her the stroller before quickly advising, "I suggest you abandon the stroller and carry your baby. Head to the nearest safe location!"

"Where is it?!" the woman cried, her voice filled with panic.

The man Spider-Man had just rescued stepped forward, determination in his eyes. "I know where it is! I'll guide her—just focus on rescuing everyone else!"

"Follow me!" he shouted, and the woman wasted no time. She scooped up her baby from the stroller, clutching the child to her chest as she ran after the man, tears streaming down her face.

Satisfied that they were safe, Spider-Man webbed upward, turning into a streak of lightning as he zipped through the city. His webs shot out in rapid succession—snagging chunks of falling rubble before they could crush fleeing civilians, yanking a car back from the edge of a crumbling road, and redirecting debris away from the panicked crowd.

As he swung through the chaos, he caught glimpses of his team in action.

Ben had shielded a little girl with his massive body, letting a rain of rubble crash onto him—only for it to shatter harmlessly against his rocky skin.

Susan was struggling, her face contorted in concentration as she lifted a heavy slab of concrete from a woman's trapped leg using her force fields. Once the woman was free, Susan quickly helped her up, offering support as she guided her to safety.

"Firestar and I are going to locate the source of this!" Johnny's voice crackled through the comms. From below, Spider-Man could see two fiery streaks blazing across the sky. "You guys focus on keeping the people safe!"

Reed had stretched his legs to walk across rooftops, using the elevated vantage point to scan the disaster zone. Every few seconds, he would extend his arms impossibly far, stretching into collapsing buildings or broken streets to pluck people out of harm's way.

At an intersection, a series of out-of-control cars were seconds away from colliding. Thinking fast, Reed intertwined his fingers into a massive net, catching the vehicles before they could crash into one another.

For a moment, his stretched-out legs wobbled dangerously, his entire form losing cohesion from the strain.

"Whoa—!"

Just as he started to snap back into shape, Spider-Kat swung in from above, flipping through the air before expertly catching him.

"Gotcha!" she said with a smirk, balancing them both before they gracefully landed.

Reed let out a breath, giving her an appreciative nod. "That was… unexpected. But thanks."

"No problem!" Spider-Kat grinned before launching herself back into the fray.

From above, Spider-Man took it all in. His team was doing great, but the destruction was escalating. They needed to find the cause of these tremors—fast.
