Chapter 1372 Escape Plan
Chapter 1372 Escape Plan
"This is where you'll be staying during your first year in the Academy."
Neron entered into his room and looked around in silence. The official who was in charge of directing him there had a rather timid smile on his face as he observed Neron's emotionless demeanor as he stepped in.
Perhaps he was waiting for the boy to say something, or express some kind of emotion, but his face was mostly stoic and his lips were tightly glued together.
His mind, however, was filled with several trains of thought.
"It's been a week since I passed my exams. I didn't expect us to be taken straight for Orientation after the results were announced, and now that it's over, I've been thrust into my permanent residence already.'
Apparently, he wouldn't even be able to return home until he was done with his first semester. That would take at least a few months.
'That sly old man! He intentionally left this out of everything, didn't he?' Neron gritted his teeth while also clenching his fist. How in the world was he supposed to aid Mordred if he had another episode if they weren't closeby. Sure, his father would need to overexert himself for such a thing to happen, and he had already promised he would never do such a thing again.
Still… Neron couldn't help but be worried.
'I'll run out of my mind like this if I don't see him and give him a piece of my mind!' "Would you like anything else? Perhaps a special order or delivery, or—?"
"No. I'm fine." Neron turned to his attendant and gave him a cold, insincere smile.
As soon as the man saw this, he gulped and nodded.
"U-understood!"
As the one who scored the highest in the exams, and also broke the record of a perfect score, Neron was pretty much treated like a god in his short time here. Ainzlark Academy was a merit-based institution, so for someone like him… he was instantly thrust to the top of the food chain.
'It has its perks, but I'm not interested in that at the moment.'
Neron sat on his massive bed, ignoring all the elaborate furniture within his room, as well as its pristine decor. The space and displayed wealth still didn't compare to his home, so he didn't particularly care.
The door shut tight, signaling the exit of his attendant, but Neron paid him no heed at all.
What was on his mind far trumped any action by such an insignificant staff.
'I need to find a way to return home! To do that… I'll need to break out.' Grinning widely as he began concocting a plan that would allow him to achieve these goals, he went over the process of entry into Ainzlark, realizing just how difficult it would be for him to achieve by himself.
'Good thing I won't be alone.' There was only one person on his mind as he thought of the most suitable partner for his plan.
She was currently in her Girls Only dormitory, but he reckoned that if he wanted to break out of the Academy, breaking into her dorm was a good way to practice.
'Hehehe! Alright then!' Jumping to his feet as he stretched his body, he began to get himself fired up for the adventure.
'First, I'll get Serah on board. Then… I'll leave this place.'
There were two major flaws associated with Neron's plan, but he considered them to be minute compared to the benefits.
'First is the fact that Serah is still salty that she lost to me by such a wide margin. I don't think that'll stop her from helping me, especially if I rile her up well.'
The second issue was the most problematic.
'Returning home will take a few days at the very least. There's no way the people in the Academy won't know of my escape.'
Still, Neron didn't think that would put him in too big of trouble.
'I'm the top student in the Academy. I doubt they'll expel me for leaving for just a few days. If they do, then it's even better for me, since I'll be able to return permanently to the Kaelid Estate with no further need to study here.'
He doubted they would be that extreme, though, since news of it would travel far and wide.
'I don't think the Academy would want people knowing that a 12 year old was able to get past their security and escape the fortified walls of the Academy.' Licking his lips and rubbing his hands, he smiled mischievously.
No matter how he sliced it, he was going to be the victor in the end.
'I just have to wait until it's dark before I make my move.' Neron had to be honest with himself; that this was the most excitement he felt since he entered into the Academy. Strange as it was, he felt more anticipation to break out than to get in.
'I could perhaps file for a leave of absence, but I have no idea how long that'll take. Plus, it's really not fun.'
He also knew there was a high possibility that Mordred would be made aware of his departure if he went by the official route, and Neron wanted to surprise him.
'That means I'll have to move fast after my escape too.' He returned to his bed and began to piece together the plan in his head, smiling broadly throughout the process.

[Later That Night]
"Looks like it's the prime time already…" Neron and Serah were huddled together in her room as he whispered those words to her.
"I still can't believe you're doing this!" Serah nearly raised her voice, but she settled for hisses as she looked at her partner with a flushed face.
"Aren't you meant to be the rebellious type? When did you start becoming so mellow and sensible?" "S-shut up! Daddy says I'm growing up to become a dignified young lady, so I should start acting my age!"
"Pfft!"
"Also… I'm always sensi—!"
"Now! Let's go!" Neron dragged Serah by her waist and flew out of her window, their bodies in a tight embrace as their silhouettes flickered in the moonlight.
"Ueeeehhh!"
