Chapter 536 Angel

Entering April marks the beginning of the rainy season. The sky over Yanjing rarely clears up, and most of the time a low, overcast pressure dominates. The gray sky always seems to show a faint glimmer of light, but it never breaks through the clouds to illuminate the earth.

After the rush hour, occasionally a few rays of light fall on the ground freshly washed by the rain, reflecting sparkling ripples, only to be trampled and shattered by hurried pedestrians. It's a bit of a pity, but also and understandably so.

Xia Xue stood by the floor-to-ceiling window holding a porcelain cup, the coffee in her hands still steaming and fogging the transparent, clean glass. Her fingers lightly glided, leaving behind her beloved name, only to be wiped away by her palm, covering the faint traces.

A passive mood can never spark any impulse during monotonous cycles. She suddenly realized she couldn't find herself — apart from the shared room, how much more did she know about him?

She shouldn't have been so confused and suspicious. Didn't he love her? Yet, in every self-affirmation, feelings of doubt followed. Who shattered her defenses? Xia Xue didn't want to delve into it, and even Lian had lost his track. Even on QQ, messages sent just vanished into the abyss.

She sighed at the glass. Returning to her desk, she tried to calm herself and immerse in work, to not think about the man occupying her thoughts. Qing Yi had promised he'd be fine, and even knowing who he was, he believed he would be okay.

As the sun rose higher, a special guest arrived at the gates of "Rhine." As she entered the hall, she became the center of everyone's attention. Her snow-white gauze dress was draped with black hair, and her makeup-free cheeks bore a pair of dark eyes, and her petite lips were alluringly radiant.

Touring the luxurious "Rhine," the girl took the escalator to a corner on the third floor. Those who followed closely behind her naturally halted several meters away as she stopped, not daring to approach.

Pure like a newborn baby, she possessed an unblemished innocence, and her captivating beauty was akin to an angel with wings descended to earth. She glanced back, her eyes flowing with a poignancy that evoked compassion.

She pushed open the dusky glass door and entered "Rhine's" most popular studio without a care.

"Hello, is there anything I can help you with?" The staff member who approached to greet her was momentarily surprised upon seeing her but maintained a professional demeanor, hiding the surprise behind a smile.

The girl just subtly shook her head, using her hands to indicate she didn't need service, just browsing casually. The staff member's face showed some regret — such a beautiful angel turned out to be mute. It is said that God is fair; He grants unique gifts but takes away something in return.

Seeing the staff had no intention of leaving, the girl directly furrowed her brows. Perhaps they couldn't understand each other, so she took a digital notepad from her bag, wrote she didn't need accompaniment, and handed it to the staff, who nodded awkwardly and swiftly left.

After reviewing the last draft, Xia Xue rubbed her tired eyes and gazed out the window again. The sun had completely hidden behind the clouds, refusing even those few strands of light. The cup of black coffee was finished, the cold and hard cup wall reminded her of Xiao Lin. Even such unrelated inanimate objects could be used for comparison.

Standing up from behind the desk, she organized the selected drafts into a folder. She hadn't equipped herself with any assistants or secretaries. Doing everything herself felt essential during the startup phase.

However, when it came to handling the entire "Rhine," Xia Yusheng did select an appropriate assistant for her. Although she was the nominal interim general manager, Xia Yusheng basically left everything to her and focused on political interactions, which he enjoyed. This again made her think of Xiao Lin's discerning ability.

Sigh, who knows how many times she's done this, yet it was buried under the rustling of discussions. Although she wouldn't expect every employee in her studio to strictly follow work ethics, advocating self-management of time, she still found it somewhat unpleasant to see groups whispering like this.

Xia Xue wasn't a good employee, but she was a good boss. So when she approached those people, she kept her kind smile. "Can you tell me what you're discussing?"

As friendly as she was, she was still the boss, an unchangeable fact. The people chatting appeared tense, like being caught lounging around, upon seeing Xia Xue. "I seldom see you like this. Did some big star visit our store, causing this much distraction?" she asked, following their gaze. Men like looking at beautiful women, and there's nothing wrong with that.

"Not a big star, but an angel." VAM was the first to cover his mouth and chuckle, pulling Xia Xue to a door. Through the dusky glass, Xia Xue witnessed the angel.

She was pure, very quiet, meticulously choosing each piece of clothing she liked. The seriousness looked less as if she planned to buy and more as if she purely admired.

"No wonder you've forgotten your work," Xia Xue teased, handing the organized drafts to VAM. "These are my picks, take a look." Staring at the girl walking towards them, their eyes inadvertently met for just a few seconds before the girl broke away and continued her earnestness.

The studio used a curved glass partition as dividers. The front was a ready-to-wear showroom and retail area. Through the glass, the rear studio, design room, and production room were visible. Some might think this layout could reveal business secrets, but Xia Xue believed only samples were exposed, not quality. "Rhine's" success lay in its quality.

"Beautiful eyes." Unconsciously, she had stepped out past the glass partition, and up close, the girl's ethereal beauty was even more striking.

"Hello!" Xia Xue naturally greeted the girl, wishing to invite such a pure individual to be her next season's fashion model.

"I don't need accompaniment services." It was the same line, the girl handed the notepad to Xia Xue.

"You've misunderstood, I just want to invite you to be my model for the next season." Xia Xue intended to leave her message on the notepad, but the girl wrote 'Talk to me, I can lip-read.'
