Chapter 533: The Third Party
Hua Muyun wanted to say something when there was a knock from outside. "Old man, I'm coming in." Secretary Luo hurried in after knocking. "Sorry, the situation is urgent."
"What's going on?" Although Hua Muyun knew Secretary Luo wouldn't enter without an emergency, as a superior, he had to keep his composure.
"Someone has broken into the central system." From Secretary Luo's agitated and disordered expression, Hua Muyun understood the severity of the situation.
"Wait for me." With that, he followed Secretary Luo out.
"When did this happen?" They walked out of the club and directly got into the waiting car heading for the City Committee Building.
"Half an hour ago."
"Nonsense!" Hua Muyun shouted.
"Initially, we thought it was some hackers accidentally breaking in, so we used the basic defense system, but didn't expect the other party to be formidable, breaking through several layers and entering the center, and…" Secretary Luo hesitated as he observed Hua Muyun's expression.
"And what? Speak up."
"The other party has planted a virus in the center, and now the entire central system is paralyzed. We just received a report and have activated the C-level preventive measures, which are currently under repair." After Secretary Luo reported the severity of the situation in one breath, he turned around, staring ahead, waiting for Hua Muyun's anger, but the latter responded in silence. "Secretary Hua, there's another piece of intelligence."
"Speak."
"According to the report from the information department, the account used to log into the system was Lin Zhifang's."
"Oh?" Hua Muyun opened his eyes, expressing doubt about the possibility of this name.
"In fact, after receiving the report, I went to the information department to confirm immediately, and it was indeed him." Secretary Luo cautiously handed the written report over to Hua Muyun. "Personally, I think there is something suspicious in this matter."
"Where is Lin Zhifang now?"
"We have already started a 24-hour surveillance on him. He has been at his residence with no sign of going out."
"Hmm, don't alert the enemy. Elevate it directly from C-level to A-level."
Secretary Luo was stunned, was this about to abandon the central system? "Secretary Hua, this…"
"Follow the order!" Hua Muyun quickly got out of the car and entered the City Committee Building. He didn't go to the information department but returned to his office directly. Through a video link, he connected with Xiao Zhenfeng, who was still at the club.
"We can't go back today, the central system has been breached, now entering A-level status."
"Hmm, I'll explain the situation on this side." Xiao Zhenfeng tacitly agreed with Hua Muyun's handling and abandoning the central system was no child's play. "Can you handle the aftermath?"
"About sixty percent."
"As long as you can assure over fifty percent, then abandon it."
"Additionally…" Secretary Luo suddenly came in, placing the latest report in front of Hua Muyun. "The target was Hong Lian. Moreover, this matter is related to Lin Zhifang. If there are any specific issues, I'll contact you again."
"Lin Zhifang is being used. Now arrange a safe passage for me, I'm coming over to your side." After Xiao Zhenfeng cut the video, he put on his coat and walked out of the club. Flame Swallow was standing by the car, wearing a mask that contrasted with his overall appearance. Xiao Zhenfeng had become accustomed to looking at his face. "If you're going to impersonate an old lady, at least make it believable. Anyone can see you're fake like this."
"Ah, got it. Next time, I'll come with the full set." He opened the car door, letting Xiao Zhenfeng get in first, and then sat right next to him.
"City Committee Building." The car quietly merged into the traffic, its lit taillights flickering like a beast.
The entire city was winding down; the lights on the buildings gradually dimmed, as more people entered sleep. A room with the lights off emitted a faint glow from somewhere, the screen's light alternated between blue and white, casting various colors on faces, and behind this cluster of blue and white lights was a red dot, also flickering along with the excitement.
"The other party is giving up." Fingers clattered on the keyboard, racing against time with the vanishing information. Sifting through each useless message, eyes scanned for even the smallest possibility like a radar.
"Give up?" The red dot echoed without a trace, a leathery sound emanating from beneath him, suggesting he was lying on a sofa.
"Yes! Very fast, and started to maneuver the firewall midway, with a new password combination being integrated." Another series of keystrokes followed.
"Oh, talented people." The red dot brightened a bit, and the smoke he exhaled became denser. The fingers tapping the keyboard picked up a cup on the side and took a sip. "Add some hot coffee for me."
"Hmm, it's right by your hand, pour it yourself." The person on the sofa lazily turned over, the hand holding the cigarette hanging down by the floor.
"Stingy." The eyes staring at the screen found a slight moment of rest when intercepting the automatic calibration of the password group. The sound of someone standing up made the person on the sofa open a slit of their eyes before closing them again. "Huh?"
"What's up?"
"There's a third party entry." A small window appeared on the screen, showing in English that someone was logging in, and judging by the entry method, it was a master. "Seems like we're not the only ones interested in the central system."
"Hurry up and find the person I'm looking for." The person on the sofa became a bit impatient, cigarette smoke billowing, messy hair drooping on the front bangs.
"First, I need to determine which category this third party belongs to. If it's an ally, we can join forces, which would speed things up, but if it's an enemy, we need to take care of them first." The impatience from the person behind didn't faze the young man tapping the keyboard. This third party was clearly outside his understanding, always causing chaos, left and right, impossible to discern their intention.
"We paid you to do this." The person on the sofa finally couldn't hold back and jumped up, taking two steps to the computer. The light from the screen cast on his face, his vague gaze drifting.
"Mu Rongyun, the money you paid isn't even enough for the first level." The speaker, angry, vented by pounding the keyboard, occasionally looking up to glare at the person beside them.
"Ah, I know, I know!" Mu Rongyun scratched his head, the other hand unapologetically hitting the back of the young man's head. "Who made you owe me a favor, Xiao Yu? You weren't this arrogant when you were a student. If you don't want to do it, give me back my money right now."
Hearing about repaying the money, the young man immediately shut up, already cursing Mu Rongyun's ancestors in his mind. "Look here." He pointed to a row of red text in the bottom right of the screen. "This person seems to be deliberately causing trouble, and the central system is undergoing fragmentation." Mu Rongyun watched as the 3D image covering the screen disintegrated layer by layer like wall plaster.
"Locate this person's position." Another frame was still scanning the secrets. "Can the new system be accessed?"
"The newly initiated system has a ten-level defense setup, and with just one mistake, we face attack and collapse."
"Oh." Mu Rongyun nodded. "Then keep going."
The computer beeped, a series of red characters inserted into the remaining central system, the young man immediately following, a new command dialogue and password input appeared on the screen, fingers once again tapping on the keyboard. "Your verification has been restricted, we can't get in now." The young man helplessly addressed Mu Rongyun.
"Oh, that's your problem to solve." An indifferent attitude aggravated the young man. "Come on, if you're a hacking expert, didn't you just push the opponent into a collapse state? You can handle this small problem."
Provocation works well for some young and hot-blooded individuals, and after taking a sip of coffee, the young man focused intently on the screen, ignoring the person behind him.
The red characters in the screen flitted around like dancing musical notes, frustratingly revealing a big laughing face to the young man amidst the chaos, jumping back and forth as if mocking.
With a lollipop in her mouth, Hong couldn't stop laughing as she saw the laughing face she sent out explode. Clutching a microphone under her neck, her fingers hit a few letters on the keyboard, the screen shifted, symbolically turning into a mouse tail hanging behind a string of flowing characters.
"Brother, the other side seems to be looking for someone, accessing files but not entering other confidential documents, though the central system is being replaced by a new system. Unlocking the password takes time. Right now, the other side is in a blocked state, and the previously seized passwords are no longer usable. Should we keep following?"
Xiao Lin, listening to Hong's report, lay on the bed. "They switched to a new system?"
"Yes!" Hong replied, having their tail discovered while following the opponent, who threw a bomb back. He calmly reentered commands like a snake, tightly coiling around the opponent.
"From what I see here, the new system's size is not large, about half of the original system, likely an emergency measure, but the defense system has reached over ten levels, and there should be an additional covert protection device inside." Hong removed the glasses from his nose and wiped with a cloth, putting them back on to zoom in on the minimized image, a schematic storage unit wrapped around by rows of locks, while crisscrossed by very fine clips difficult to notice upon cursory glance. "I want to pull out for now, the other side is impulsive and may negatively impact here." A black line appeared on the screen, directly attacking the layers of overlapping locks.
"Try to figure out the other side's target." After a brief consideration, Xiao Lin operated on the flat LCD screen, tasks on the assassin list emerged endlessly. Since entering this room, he seldom stepped outside this door.
"Okay." Hong wanted to give up, but with Xiao Lin's insistence, he had no choice but to hold on and endeavor not to get attacked.
"Hong, where are you now?"
"At home." (To be continued. If you like this work, visit Qidian (qidian.com) to vote for recommendation tickets, monthly tickets. Your support is my biggest motivation.)
